Chapter 2671  A Scream That Would Impress Opera Singers

Whatever pattern the double eclipse followed, it was far longer than just ten times, and they might have to experience it multiple times before they would be able to confirm it. But it was certainly not something they wanted to experience again.

'The shortest duration it happened in was just a few thousand years… that is certainly short. They might not have even had the needed time to fully recover,' Lin Mu thought.

It was certainly an interesting bit of information, but it was not something Lin Mu wished to experience either.

'I guess this is simply a natural calamity the Jui World is fated to experience over and over again,' Lin Mu reckoned.

Lin Mu engrossed himself in reading while Meng Bai was busy with his writing.

The two men were deep in work, and time continued to pass. In the blink of an eye, several hours had passed, and the two moons were now at their apex.

The white and brown moons were now on top of each other, with the crescent white moon looking like a halo that adorned the brown moon.

"HAAAAAAH!" Meng Bai put down his brush and got up from the chair, stretching his body.

"Man, writing this much is harder than I thought," Meng Bai groaned as he looked at his work.

He could see no change from his first sheet of paper to the last.

"Why can't I write well?" he wondered. "I've gone through nearly two hundred sheets of paper, and yet there's no change. How am I so bad at it?" he couldn't help but complain.

Deciding to take a break and rest his sore hands, he decided to take a walk.

CREAK

Opening the door, he walked outside, noticing the door's sound.

"This needs to be oiled a bit… Guess solid metal rods as hinges aren't really the best option," Meng Bai muttered.

Lin Mu had simply hammered one of the iron rods to act as a hinge for the rooms. It was simple but rather noisy.

"At least the area is lit up," Meng Bai said as he glanced at the small illumination formations Lin Mu had engraved on the rooms and hall.

They cast light in three hundred and sixty degrees and illuminated the area well. After all, it was not the most convenient to keep things in the dark.

"How did he make them so small, though?" Meng Bai wondered as he took a closer look at them.

"How did he make them so small, though?" Meng Bai wondered as he took a closer look at them.

The runes were carved in less than five square centimeters. While formations could certainly be made that small, one must know that even though the illumination formation was rather simple, it still required around seventy runes. Fitting all those runes into such a tiny area was not easy and needed great precision.

One could not overlap the runes, or the formation would not work. And if the runes touched, the formation would simply fail, perhaps even explode.

Meng Bai had a hard time taking a proper look since the light blinded his eyes from close up. As such, he used his Spirit Sense to observe them and saw that the runes were very tiny, being just a millimeter in size.

'Damn, he carved runes this size with just a sword? Just how good is his skill?' Meng Bai was thoroughly impressed. 'Every rune is neat and proper, too.' He couldn't help but compare them to his own chicken-scratch-like runes that sometimes looked like tadpoles swimming around in a pond.

But while he stood there with his eyes closed, a being approached from the dark. It was silent, and yet its form could be made out from the tree line with how large it was.

Meng Bai was wholly unaware of it and didn't realize the presence growing closer and closer.

He felt a faint breeze on his face that carried a hint of a fishy stench.

'What's that smell?' Meng Bai wrinkled his nose, wondering where it was coming from.

And when he opened his eyes, the large being was right in front of him.

His pupils contracted rapidly as he saw two yellow-green eyes stare back at him. They held vertical pupils that carried a ferocious might within them, while sharp fangs that were as long as daggers could be seen in the maw below them.

Meng Bai felt all the hair on his body stand up as a soul-chilling fear like nothing before filled his body.

He stumbled back and got a full look at the massive behemoth standing in front of him. It looked to be over five meters tall and had red fur with black stripes. A luxurious mane adorned its neck, while two furry ears stood atop its head. Its legs, as tall as some trees, were strong and muscular, with long, sharp claws that could cut a bull in half jutting from its paws.

The Qi fluctuations coming from it were so strong that Meng Bai couldn't even estimate its cultivation base. But from what he saw, he was sure it was an immortal beast. The aura that emanated from it was strong enough to prevent him from breathing. He had no idea how many creatures the beast had killed to have gained such a ferocious aura.

Meng Bai watched as the beast lowered its head, getting closer to him while he was frozen in fear.

"Boo," the beast let out.

But all Meng Bai heard was a deep growl.

Then, with the one breath that was left in him, he cried out.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

It was the longest scream Meng Bai had ever let out, and he drained his breath in one go.

If some opera singers were to hear it, they would pay their respects to him, seeing how long he could sustain it.

Meng Bai gained a strength from who knew where and began to run.

"BEAST! A BEASTTTTTTT!" he shouted at the top of his lungs, drawing in a short breath.

His voice echoed across the forest, dwarfing the sounds of the other beasts and startling several bird beasts.
