Chapter 1623 The Return of the Gap in the Wall
Chapter 1623 1623. The Return of the Gap in the Wall
“You sound angry, old one,” Suzaki greeted back. “You have always called me lady. It’s very unlike you.”
ƈοm “You no longer deserve to be called that,” Broidrireg returned. He was ready to fight Suzaki, but he was experienced enough to pay attention to the surroundings. What he saw down there caused his eyes to narrow and his heart to sink. He saw Uddroth and Eurdrasill down there. Both were undead. He had known about Uddroth’s demise, but this was the first time he learned about Eurdrasill’s.
A deep growl was heard from Broidrireg’s throat. “Who killed Eurdrasill…?” He asked.
Suzaki answered calmly, “… He was turned into an undead by the Necronomicon. The Necronomicon can only resurrect natives who are killed by the wielder or the force commanded by the wielder. Does that answer your question?”
“… Why do you help such a person?” Broidrireg asked. “You should have seen what he has done. Evil being like him will only bring pain and suffering to the world if he is given power.”
“You have lived a long life, old one,” Suzaki said. “Are you still so naïve to believe in the concept of good and evil? The world revolves around its inhabitants’ wishes. I want something. You also want something. What if what I want causes you to lose what you want? Then conflicts arise. How to solve it? Power! That’s as simple as it goes. Everything else is just a pretense.”
“Hmph!” Broidrireg sneered. “What you call is lawlessness. The whole point of civilization is to combat this anarchy.”
“Civilization is for weaker beings, old one. We don’t need to be civilized. We are among the pinnacle beings of this world. We take what we want. We make our own rules!”
“Despite knowing you for ages, I realize now that I don’t truly know you enough,” Broidrireg said. “So, what do you want so badly that you do all this?”
“… Something I have longed for… Something that he said he could give me…”
“He…?” Broidrireg glanced at Master down there. “Is that why you help him? What is this thing he promised you?”
Suzaki was silent.
“Mighty one! A hand, please? I didn’t call you here so you can chat…!” Jack called. He had been doing his best to halt the earth titan’s advance but with Master’s interference, his effort only slowed the titan by a little.
“I will deal with you later…,” Broidrireg said to Suzaki.
“Unfortunately, I can’t allow that,” Suzaki was about to lunge, but he noticed Brodrireg was casting two spells while moving away. Those spell formations were completed at almost the same time when Suzaki noticed the casting.
The air around Suzaki turned dense. She had been hit by the same spell before. Being locked by the dense air, she had difficulty moving. The second spell hit then. A giant bubble of water encased Suzaki. As a being of fire, she felt extremely uncomfortable inside water. Flames burst from her body, trying to evaporate the water around her, but the water persisted.
The second spell was similar to John’s Living Water Prison, only much more powerful. It was called Oppressive Water Prison.
Suzaki was again impressed by Broidrireg’s spell-casting ability. The speed and precision of his spell-casting were out of the world. While Suzaki was incapacitated by the two spells, Broidrireg flew down. He was already in the process of casting more spells.
The next spell was Air Lock. A ring of twisting wind appeared on the earth titan’s legs which were in the process of stepping forward. This ring caused its movement to halt. It lost its balance and almost toppled over. With its sheer strength, it stomped downward. The Air Lock was forcefully broken by the stomp.
Broidrireg’s next spell hit. The ground under the earth titan’s feet became watery. The earth titan sunk until the ground was almost to its knees. Several tentacles made of water lashed out and coiled around the titan, pulling it further down. This spell was called Watery Grave.
Master looked at the approaching Broidrireg. The old dragon was already preparing another spell. Master’s Wind God Incarnation was also almost over. Mana was gathering within him as his body was prepared to unleash the divine skill’s finishing attack.
Like Jack, Master’s mana manipulation was advanced enough for him to focus the divine energy into a singular attack rather than letting it do an AOE burst. He originally planned to aim this finishing attack at Jack, but he now changed his target after seeing the earth titan getting hindered by Broidrireg’s spell.
Master channeled the accumulated mana into his hand and pointed at the incoming Broidrireg. A massive torrent of twisting wind burst from his hand. This wind formed a large column that shot at the blue dragon. The column was very fast. Broidrireg didn’t have time to cast any high-level defensive spells, so he erected a magic shield.
“Crap, he can shape his finishing attack into a ranged version,” Jack uttered. He fired Mana Beam at Master, but Master just ignored it. Before the finishing attack ended, Master still had the damage reduction effect from the divine skill.
Broidrireg’s magic shield lasted one second but it shattered afterward. The raging wind column slammed into him. He cried in pain as his elongated body tumbled backward. He didn’t lose much damage from the hit, but that divine strike still caused him enough pain.
The pain made him lose hold of the Watery Grave, which was a sustained spell. The water that was trapping the earth titan’s legs turned back into solid ground. The water tentacles broke into water droplets.
The earth titan heaved its legs and broke the ground that was trapping its legs, creating a huge hole. It climbed out from that hole.
Jack dashed toward Master. He still had the Strength of Hope. He should be much stronger than Master who had turned back to normal form, but Master didn’t stay normal for long. His body enlarged and his head grew horns. Master used Demonization.
Jack’s swords were stopped by Master’s magic shield. Master then cast Telekinesis and threw Jack far away.
The earth golem again lifted its arm. This time, no one managed to stop it. It ignored all the ranged attacks from the defender on the wall. Its hand turned into a giant wrecking ball that gleaned a bright yellow light. Like a falling meteor, it smashed into the wall.
The wall caved in from the strike. Cracks started to spread. These cracks also shone a bright yellow. With a loud thump, the wall broke. There was again a huge gap in Messephyria’s defensive wall.
