Chapter 2113: Mission II

Five minutes after I came, the door opened, and a beautiful woman in a purple dress walked in. She looked like she was going for a picnic rather than the very dangerous mission.

I am familiar with this woman, she is quite famous and has the same title as a champion. She was also the host of the championship; I had spoken to her a few times but did not know her well.

“Lord Whitman, when you informed me about a talented runesmith joining us for a mission, I did not expect it would be a Grandmaster of runes Micheal Zaar himself,” She said as she gave me her dainty hand to shake.

“Lady Marla, I am not a Grandmaster of runes,” I said as I shook her hand. She is Marla Clyde, the previous winner of the world championship before me and one of the youngest people with a high chance to reach the Grandmaster class.

“It is a given seeing your Inheritance and not that I am wrong with calling you a Grandmaster,” she said and looked at me mysteriously.

It seemed like she knows me getting a title which is a little surprising seeing it is only informed to the Grandmaster but also not surprising seeing the Lord of Glass had taken her under his wings, and that makes her privy to certain things even if she does not have required level to know those things.

“Still, I would prefer if you would call me Micheal, Lady Marla,” I said, “I will call you Micheal if you call drop lady from my name,” She said as she sat beside me, to that I nodded.

She and that old women share the name, but I could never imagine calling that women anything besides Lady Marla, no matter how powerful I became. I still feel a little scared whenever I think about the old woman.

Not even a minute had passed since Marla had come to the room when the door opened again, and a man walked inside.

The man was strange; he was clad in blacklight armor, which is a powerful artifact; this artifact gave off a quite strange feeling to me. The man is also wearing a black ceramic mask devoid of designs.

Looking at him, one could not tell whether this man, whether he is young or old or even his ethnicity seeing every part of him completely covered by the suit and the mask. The only thing I could tell about him is he is on the same level as Marla.

As he came inside, he gave an old fashion bow to Lord Whitman and nodded at us. “Marla, Micheal meet thirty-three,” Lord Whitman introduced us to the strange man whose name ‘thirty-three’ is clearly a code name.

He likely belongs to some hidden legion; there are some hidden forces of a pyramid that are even unknown to most Grandmasters.

“Now you all have gathered, I will tell you about your mission,” Lord Whitman said. “It is to destroy the ritual of Black Teeth Hyenamen Tribe, which they are performing in the Aldiu Ruin, inside a powerful palace which is filled with the dangerous formations,” He informed.

Marla and my eyes lit up recognization as we heard the Black Teeth Hyenamen Tribe. “Haven’t we killed their Grandmaster? They are barely any danger to us,” Marla said.

There are thousands of Tribes of Grimm Monsters, but only the tribe with Grandmaster leading them are important. As these are tribes that are allowed to live in their fortified enclave while the rest live outside in the central continent and other small continents depending on their standing.

The Grandmaster of Black Teeth Hyenamen Tribe is one of the first Grandmasters killed in the war; they have even released footage of it getting killed.

“Yes, we have, and doing that, we have destroyed their pillar, which had their sole shield against the Stone Horn Bull Tribe, their mortal enemies,”

“Seeing they will be reduced to slave tribe with oppression from their mortal enemies and we killing their numbers, these bastards are attempting a powerful ritual in which if they succeded, they would create a Grandmaster with great cost,” Lord Whitman said and sent us copies of the detailed record.

The society of Grimm Monsters is not perfect, there is extreme infighting, and each tribe is a mortal enemy with at least one tribe. If not for the coven strictly controlling the infighting and hierarchy among the tribes, the Grimm Monsters would have collapsed already.

“Fuck!”

Marla said, and yes fuck, these bastards of Black Teeth Hyenamen Tribe have crossed all the limits; they went above the cruelty the Grimm Monsters have for each other.

Just a few days ago, they had slaughtered 75% of their tribe and created the blood crystal from their essences which they would use along with other material, including the power of the faith of the whole tribe to call the will of their great progenitor and ask it bless their strongest members.

The coven does not tolerate these types of sacrificial rituals as their guarantee of success is not even 1%, but it had turned out the desperate batards had found something aldiu ruin that increases their chances, and the coven more than happy enough to lend them a hand secretly.

If these bastards had somehow got successful in producing a Grandmaster, then hundreds and thousands of tribes might follow; the value of the Grandmaster is too much that if they are able to hundreds of them, even thousands, then war will heavily tilt on their side.

If some of these Grandmasters were able to level up to become Grand Lord, then we could forget about winning the war. Hell, they would destroy us; their forces are already greater than us, and giving them further tilt is unacceptable.

“The mission you have is clear; you have to destroy the thing they have found; it is your most important objective, more important than killing any Grimm Monsters.” Lord Whitman said.

“You three will not be alone in this mission; there is our person in the ruin; she will meet you once you reach there,” He added, surprising us a little.
