The two men continued their discussion—-
“Oh god, Fu Qinglun is an adopted child? Then who exactly are his biological parents?”
“I’m not sure about that, perhaps, he doesn’t have any. He was an abandoned baby and rumor has it that President Fu had brought him back from the orphanage.”
“I simply can’t believe that the most respected man in Karghalik, the one who exudes a dignified, noble aura is actually a counterfeit!”
“I can’t believe it either, but Madam Fu’s biological daughter has appeared. Since her appearance, Madam Fu has been on an emotional rollercoaster and the Fu family is in a total mess right now, including their company.”
“I see, the Fu Corporation’s second biggest shareholder, Zhao Quan has a sly personality. Moreover, he has set his ambitions on gaining control over the Fu Corporation. Now that it’s been proven that Fu Qinglun isn’t their biological heir, Zhao Quan is not going to miss such a good opportunity to take power.”
“Aiii, Fu Qinglun is caught between two fires and things aren’t favorable for him right now. We can only watch as he tries to get himself out of this mess.”…
The elevator had arrived and the two men stepped foot into it. After noticing that Lin Shiyu was standing outside, they asked, “Miss, are you coming in?”
Lin Shiyu was in a daze after listening to them. She turned around and walked back to her room.
“What’s wrong with that woman, why is she standing there all dazed? I think I’ve seen her somewhere before…”
…
In the room.
Lin Shiyu quickly switched on her laptop and refreshed her web browser. As expected, there was widespread discussion on the internet about Fu Qinglun.
Fu Qinglun wasn’t Mrs Fu’s biological son, but rather, an orphan who was adopted.
The Fu family was an established family that held absolute power over the entire Karghalik for more than a century, they modeled the way for the high society. It came as a shock that the young master of the Fu family, one that was supposed to have noble blood… was actually a counterfeit.
It was simply unacceptable for the wealthy and influential families in town, where bloodline was of utmost importance to them.
Fu Qinglun was the eldest successor in line and now that he didn’t have any biological ties to the Fu family, what was going to happen to him?
Lin Shiyu sat on her bed while she was in a daze.
A melodious ringtone sounded, she had an incoming phone call.
Her assistant, Bao Zi was calling.
“Hello, Bao Zi.” She answered the phone call.
“Lion, I have a piece of good news for you. The court has ruled for your divorce with President Fu.” Bao Zi sounded happy for Lin Shiyu on the other end of the phone call.
The court had ruled, she was granted a divorce with Fu Qinglun.
It wasn’t out of her expectations.
“Lion, you’ll just have to prepare some documents and head to the court in two week’s time to be able to obtain your divorce decree. Young Master Fu can’t do anything about it even if he doesn’t agree with it.”
She lowered her eyelashes, looking solemn. “Okay.”
She hung up the phone call.
Finally, she was able to get divorced with Fu Qinglun.
Their three year marriage was finally coming to an end.
Lin Shiyu lay on her bed, not knowing what to do next. Was it because her divorce had gone too smoothly? She didn’t feel as relieved as she had expected that she would be…
…
Lin Shiyu took a nap before the doorbell chimed.
She opened her eyes, noticing that the skies were already dark. It was already midnight.
Who was still knocking on her door at this hour?
She got down her bed and walked over to answer the door.
There was a tall figure standing in front of the door, it was… Fu Qinglun.
Fu Qinglun was in formal wear, a tailored white shirt with a tie. He put on a black blazer and overcoat outside, with his handsomely features, he seemed to be headed for an important business meeting.
Lin Shiyu met his cold eyes, he didn’t have much of an expression on his face but his eyes were bloodshot.
Two days and one night had passed, he probably hadn’t had much sleep.
Fu Qinglun looked at the ethereal beauty standing in front of him, his lips moved and he spoke with a deep voice that was calm and magnetic at the same time. “I’ll be returning to Karghalik in my private jet shortly.”
So he was there to say goodbye to her.
He would be leaving the Capital and returning to Karghalik.
There were many people and matters awaiting for him in Karghalik.
Lin Shiyu responded with a mere ‘Hm’.
There was a short moment of awkwardness.
Both of them didn’t speak, or rather, they seemed to have nothing else to say.
But at the same time, they seemed to have unresolved matters and a lot they needed to discuss.
“There’s something else.” Fu Qinglun said. He continued peering at her. “Lu Qi’er was spouting nonsense. I didn’t buy her a house, ever since you’ve left, she continued pestering me on multiple occasions but I haven’t even agree to meet her even once. Today was the only exception.”
He didn’t buy a house for Lu Qi’er. It was Lu Qi’er who chased after him all the way from Karghalik to the Capital. She was like a clingy, soul-sucking leech that continued to pester him.
“Oh,” Lin Shiyu acknowledged his words with nonchalance.
It wasn’t clear whether she believed him or not.
There was dead silence, one stood inside the apartment while the other stood outside.
His secretary, Bei Chuan, then came forward, reminding him in a soft voice, “President, it’s time for us to leave.”
Fu Qinglun took an extra glimpse of her face again, before muttering, “I’ll leave then.”
She lowered her eyes and nodded, not looking at him. “Oh.”
Fu Qinglun then stretched his legs out, preparing to leave.
Lin Shiyu was dazed for a few seconds before she closed the door.
But before she could even do so, a large palm had moved faster than she could even react and stopped her from closing the door. It was Fu Qinglun, he had returned.
Lin Shiyu lifted her eyes and looked at him in bewilderment. He pushed open the door and entered the room.
With his arms around her waist, he pulled her into his warm embrace while his other hand held onto the back of her head. He hugged her as tightly as he could.
His clean, masculine scent had drowned her senses. Lin Shiyu placed her hands on his chest, attempting to push him away.
His lips were on her silken hair, murmuring in her ear, “Shi’shi, let me hug you for a while… just awhile will do.”
Shi’shi, let me hug you…
Just awhile will do…
He had returned and lowered his stance, pleading her. Lin Shiyu felt a twinge in her chest.
It was a futile attempt of hers to try to push him away since he refused to let go. He hugged her tightly in his arms domineeringly, taking in the fragrance she emanated.
He just wanted to hug her for awhile.
Just a while would do.
Lin Shiyu’s hands were by her side, not knowing what to do while he hugged her.
The faint yellow lights had elongated their shadows. Their bodies were close together and they seemed rather intimate.
“Shi’shi, can we not get a divorce. Please? The one and only thing I wanted most from the very start was you, and only you. It was always you. I never needed anyone else.
“I’m sorry, I’ve expressed my love for you in the wrong ways. Every single time that I’ve hurt you and caused you pain, I’ll feel three times the pain myself. I understand that I’ve hurt you all over in the course of our marriage but I’m not any less in pain. I don’t know what other ways I could use to continue showing my love, but I swear that I only have you in my heart.
“Shi’shi, I love you.”
