Chapter 1171: Section 1172: Competing for the Primeval Flame

“`

Primeval Flame! This is the Primeval Flame!

The majority of those present had never seen the Primeval Flame before, but the moment they saw this flame, without any doubt, they immediately recognized it as the Primeval Flame!

“Indeed, it is the Primeval Flame!” a voice, somewhat immature and youthful, suddenly cried out loudly, “I can feel it, there’s no mistake! This is the Primeval Flame!”

All eyes followed the sound, and the speaker was a young fire demon standing beside Aoluxiya, who at that moment was pointing excitedly at the small flame on the tavern master’s forearm, bouncing up and down with excitement.

For Greerwu, it had experienced its ancestors’ Primeval Flame, but that kind of Primeval Flame was dusky and somber, always reminding it of the Death Lord’s Tomb of Ashes and Gloom. As a young and lively fire demon, Greerwu didn’t like that type of Primeval Flame, although the implications it contained were still vast and deep.

On the other hand, the small tuft of white Primeval Flame on the tavern master’s arm was completely different. It was vibrant, bursting with life, full of vitality. Feeling the breath of this Primeval Flame, Greerwu felt as if it saw hope… The hope of transforming from a young fire demon into a Patterned Flame Demon.

Perhaps Greerwu was the most familiar with the Primeval Flame among those present. Thus, when Greerwu confirmed that it was indeed the Primeval Flame, all the fire demons’ eyes turned red, their gazes scorching as they stared at the tiny flame.

The wizards on the other side, upon seeing the Primeval Flame, also had eyes filled with greed and longing. After all, unlike demons, nearly every wizard practiced some fire Spell Technique, and the Primeval Flame’s effect on the growth of fire was absolutely top-notch!

Even Monty was initially attracted by the Primeval Flame, but Monty had his own obsessions. The Primeval Flame was indeed precious, but as a frost wizard, the allure of the Primeval Flame was in fact limited for him; Aoluxiya was his true goal!

However, as Monty’s gaze was locked on Aoluxiya, Aoluxiya was not looking at Monty but was instead focusing all his attention on the Primeval Flame. Just as Monty had his obsessions, Aoluxiya had his too, but his obsession was the distant future. And the key to unlocking that future needed the Primeval Flame to be activated!

A sudden whooshing of wind sliced through the silence.

It was a small handfire demon, unable to resist the pull of the Primeval Flame, rushing over.

Angel also noticed this small handfire demon and thought someone would stop it, but oddly, no demon moved to prevent the small demon’s action. Even as it passed by Komodo’s side, Komodo merely glanced at it and did nothing.

While Angel was puzzled, the small handfire demon had already sprinted to the top of the tower, in front of the painting.

However, just as the small demon extended its thin hand, greedily trying to seize the tuft of flame, the hand emerging from the vortex, which belonged to the night tavern master, suddenly moved—

It took a twist and grabbed the small handfire demon by the neck.

Instantly, the small handfire demon rolled its eyes back.

At the same time, Komodo and Aoluxiya both sprang into action, charging directly towards the flame.

Seeing this, Angel began to understand why Komodo and Aoluxiya had not stopped the handfire demon—they had used the small demon as bait…

Aoluxiya, who was closest to the Primeval Flame, twisted and turned with care not to touch the night tavern master and snatched the glimmering white Primeval Flame into his hands.

But Aoluxiya had barely time to feel elated when Komodo charged over. Like a rolling meatball battle chariot, accompanied by thunderous rumblings, Komodo turned into a blur of motion and rammed into Aoluxiya’s back.

The colossal boom upon impact even rippled through the Void!

Aoluxiya, caught off guard, was struck dumb, and the tuft of Primeval Flame in his hand was tossed into the air.

Aoluxiya quickly regained his bearings and reached out to snatch the Primeval Flame, but Komodo showed no sign of weakness, lunging to seize it while launching attacks to hinder Aoluxiya.

A demon and a descendant of a Demon God turned into blurs of afterimages, fighting fiercely with one another.

There were actually some fire wizards among the humans who were extremely envious of the tossed Primeval Flame, but when their gaze fell upon the hand amidst the vortex, they stopped in their tracks.

The might of the Demon Lord deterred them from acting impulsively.

Moreover, the energy unleashed in the fight between Aoluxiya and Komodo was enough to keep everyone at bay, fearful of accidental wounds.

Aoluxiya and Komodo fought evenly matched, but the tossed Primeval Flame was bound to settle.

The white Primeval Flame floated through the air as if choosing its destination, and eventually… it selected a young fire demon nearby, falling into Greerwu’s hands.

Greerwu, holding the Primeval Flame, looked utterly bewildered.

A sound of something tearing through the air came from afar, as attendant fire demon Tandin immediately pulled Greerwu around in a circle, hiding behind the painting.

Seeing the exploding shards of stone next to him, Greerwu realized that someone had tried to ambush him!

“Quick, pocket the Primeval Flame!” the attendant fire demon shouted as he saw Greerwu’s stunned face.

Greerwu hastily thought of storing the Primeval Flame within his own Demon Storage, but after a moment of panic, Greerwu exclaimed, “No, it’s no good. The Primeval Flame can’t be put into the space; I can feel it. If forced in, the Primeval Flame will extinguish immediately!”

Like Spatial Artifacts, Demon Storage is a stable, artificially created space for storing items.

As the “fire of origin,” the Primeval Flame relied on vast and complex rules; therefore, it was impossible to be contained within a storage space with incredibly weak rules. Even spaces like the Witchcraft Garden, which were almost akin to a small world, couldn’t hold the Primeval Flame.

In a moment of urgency for Greerwu, Aoluxiya suddenly appeared next to him.

“Give me the Primeval Flame.”

Greerwu did not hesitate to hand over the Primeval Flame to Aoluxiya. Although it greatly desired the Primeval Flame, it understood that keeping it would be like holding a hot potato.

At that moment, a dark shadow fell from the sky; it was Komodo rushing down.

Aoluxiya pinched the Primeval Flame in one hand while extending the other, murmuring strange Demon God incantations. A terrifying burst of impact erupted from the palm, sending Komodo tumbling hundreds of meters away!

After a series of rolls, Komodo managed to stop its fall. By then, Aoluxiya had already seized the Primeval Flame.

Aoluxiya returned to the side of the painting, lifting its head to no longer meet the gazes of Monty and Komodo, but rather numerous covetous eyes.

“Ah—” A scream suddenly rang out.

The little demon with flame control, whose throat had been grasped by the night master, had finally been decapitated under the ferocious force.

Everyone’s attention shifted back to the vortex on the painting when the night master stretched out his other hand. After both hands emerged, the night master’s first action was not to pull his body through but to grip the edges of the vortex with bulging veins, tearing at it directly.

The vortex grew larger under the night master’s tugging.

Measured against the night master’s hands now, his size was absolutely comparable to a giant’s. The vortex had been too small before, only wide enough for two hands to squeeze through, but now he could enlarge it to accommodate his massive physique.

When the vortex had stretched to its limit, the night master’s head finally began to slowly emerge.

At first, only the top of his head was visible, where one could see that the night master’s hair was no more, replaced by blazing orange flames.

However, within those orange flames, there was a small tuft of purple flame, exceedingly special.

It radiated the same vibrations as the previous white Primeval Flame. Only, something carried by the flame seemed to have changed.

“Is that also Primeval Flame?!” someone asked.

The covetous looks of Aoluxiya and Komodo explained everything—

That purple flame was still Primeval Flame!

“You still want to compete with me?” Komodo glared fiercely at Aoluxiya, or rather, at the white Primeval Flame in Aoluxiya’s hands.

Aoluxiya did not respond, only looking at Komodo with indifferent eyes.

Neither Komodo nor Aoluxiya intended to let go, but neither made a move—at this moment, the purple Primeval Flame was atop the night master’s head.

Elsewhere, Angel looked at Fafnir, “Lord Fafnir, aren’t you going to fight for it?”

“What does it matter to me?”

Angel pointed to the Flame Mark on his earlobe.

Seeing that, Fafnir responded indifferently, “If Odeclass requires Primeval Flame, he will never subcontract it to others, he would step into that world himself.”

While Fafnir spoke, the night master’s head had completely emerged.

Moreover, with incredible speed, his upper body was freed from the other end of the vortex. However, the flames scorching the night master’s features and upper body made them hard to discern.

Until the night master’s tightly shut eyes opened. Amidst the roaring flames, a bright light shone forth.

As that light flickered, the fire engulfing the night master’s upper body, including his head, gradually dimmed. However, these flames did not vanish but transformed into a suit of armor covered in strange patterns.

Including his features, the night master’s face was now masked by this peculiarly textured face armor, reflecting a faint cold light.

The eyes on the face armor were covered by a thin, black layer. Although one couldn’t see the night master’s eyes through it, one could sense his cold and primitive gaze.

As the night master’s upper body all but emerged from the vortex, the humans led by Monty kept retreating.

Though the night master emitted no pressure, everyone understood that he had certainly reached that step.

Monty had already retired from his frost giant appearance, and hidden beneath his robe, his hand gripped a Mysterious Object radiating mystical vibrations. This object was his confidence for daring to come to Lassudral, and also the trump card for the Frostmoon Alliance.

Even though Angel had said that the night master seemed to hold no prejudice against humans or demons, Monty didn’t dare gamble on it.

If the night master truly made a move, Monty would have to abandon Aoluxiya and flee Lassudral for the time being.

At this thought, Monty’s gaze involuntarily shifted towards Angel on the other side.

At that moment, the night master slowly lifted his head, his eyes leisurely scanning the crowd outside. When his gaze passed over the demon and human factions, he made no pause.

It wasn’t until he saw Angel that the night master’s gaze hesitated. Then, his eyes moved on, sweeping past the burning gaze of Komodo before finally resting on Aoluxiya.
