Chapter 1453: Creating Divinity
Chapter 1453: Creating Divinity
The Cloak of Divine Fervor was the #4 Ghost Armament on the Seventy-two Ghost Armaments Ranking. The reason it was ranked this high was because of one attribute only: it reduced the wearer’s damage received by a whopping 50%. Everyone knew that Warsky, Farewell Song and more people had been collecting damage-reduction equipment to deal with SSS Rank Ancient Divine Skills, but individually, the items only gave at most 10% damage reduction. Moreover, this type of equipment usually had very poor stats, meaning that you would lose out on a lot of HP, Defense and Attack if you switched into them. Even so, equipment that reduced damage received by just 5% was almost too expensive to purchase in the current market, much less one that reduced the wearer’s damage received by 50%!
I would soon enter the Purgatory to find Xinran, and heaven only knows what kind of powerful opponents they would throw at me. That was why this 50% damage reduction was a must-have, not to mention that it also increased my max HP by 270k. With 50% damage reduction and 50% lifesteal, I was certain that I could survive the trials of the Purgatory alone. Trading the Wind Severing Sword for it was a win for me, and I was sure that neither He Yi nor Li Chengfeng would blame me for my decision. Even if they did, I could only bear it for Xinran’s sake.
……
I happily equipped the Cloak of Divine Fervor and gave the discarded Sunchaser Cloak to Chaos Moon. I immediately felt a tremendous energy surging into my body. My current stat screen showed—
ID: Broken Halberd Sinks Into Sand (The Frostblade of Death)
Class: Master Swordsman of Death
Level: 252
HP: 1,358,550
Attack: 53,150~72,670
Defense: 116,365
Magic Resist: 102,920
Reputation: 522,5400
Tactics: 2,565
Luck: 139
……
A base Attack over 70k was definitely a world record for this game, and my base HP had jumped to 1.35 million as well. I could buff it to almost 3 million with a card, which should be enough to deal with most Divine Rank bosses I might encounter in the Purgatory. Even if it wasn’t, my Asura God skills should help even the odds to the point where I could.
With the Xuanyuan Sword in my grip and the Cloak of Divine Fervor behind my back, I looked at the sky and sucked in a deep breath. Right now, my equipment was without a doubt top-tier—no, unrivaled—in the entire world. There literally couldn’t be anyone who had better equipment set than me. I had three of the Seventy-two Ghost Armaments—the Song of Freedom, the Flying Dragon Wristguards and the Cloak of Divine Fervor—the strongest weapon of the Twelve Divine Armaments, the Xuanyuan Sword, four Sacred Armaments—the Fire God Helmet, Cyan Dragon Shield, Guardian Dragon Armor and Ghost Spirit War Boots—and the Ancient Divine Armament, Pity of the Purgatory Gods. In the same vein, there literally couldn’t be anyone with better stats than me, so I shouldn't be one-shot when I entered the Purgatory, right?
"The system is going into maintenance for 60 minutes. Should we return to the main city for now?" He Yi asked.
Lin Yixin nodded. "Mn. It took a long time, but we finally managed to clear this event. It’s time to return to the city and log out… Heehee, the Wind Severing Sword looks so cool… I love it…"
My cute little girlfriend tried to stay serious, but her attention kept being drawn back to the handle of the Wind Severing Sword. Admittedly, it did have a pretty unique design. Its metal was engraved with exquisite patterns, and wind-type energy floated around it at all times. It was a weapon that automatically looked imposing without needing to try.
"Wait a second. I can’t teleport back to Sky City…" Li Chengfeng said after crushing his return scroll to no effect. "Holy shit, I just received a system notice saying that Sky City has fallen into the Purgatory Legion’s hands! Just how fast did Lin Na’s lackeys work? What do we do now?"
I said, "We return to Dark Moon City. Until the counterattack begins, we will use Dark Moon City as our main base. Speaking of which, do NOT increase our territory’s repair fee or anything else. A lot of guilds will be moving into Dark Moon City, and I don’t want to tarnish our reputation for the sake of short-term profit."
He Yi nodded. "Don’t worry, I know."
Gui Guzi crushed a guild return scroll, and he was able to teleport away without trouble.
Everyone quickly did the same thing. Soon, only Lin Yixin and I were left behind.
Rustle rustle…
Lin Yixin stood beside me and asked curiously, "What are you waiting for, Little Cheat?"
I answered, "Well, the Ancient Divine Dragon just entered the Divine Awakening stage…"
"Okay. So?"
"I would prefer to keep its new power a secret for now, so…"
"Hmm?"
I waved my hand once, and the Ancient Divine Dragon immediately canceled its armor form and rose into the air. Then, it assumed a smaller, cuddlier form and rubbed its head affectionately against my arm. On the surface, my mount didn’t look any different from before, but in reality a new, invisible sheen of divine energy was surrounding its scales. I had no doubt that its Defense had increased by leaps and bounds. I wasn’t wrong. When I opened its stat screen, I was delighted to find that all of its stats had increased massively. As expected of the Divine Awakening stage—

Unique Skill 1: Summon the Storm. Summons wind blades and ice rains to attack all enemy units within an incredibly wide area. Damage dealt is based on the owner’s Attack.
Unique Skill 2: Divinity Creation. When the requirements are met, create a unique Divinity for its master.
Introduction: The Ancient Divine Dragon is a holy existence that soars beyond the Nine Heavens. Even the Dragon Gods bow to the Ancient Divine Dragon in respect. It is said that the Ancient Divine Dragon is the spirit double of the Ancient Primordial God. It can summon the storm to strike its enemies.
Level Requirement: 250
Reputation Requirement: 2,500,000
……
I see! The reason the Ancient Divine Dragon had been stuck at Level 199 all this time wasn’t because it didn’t get enough experience, but because the Level Requirement was 250, meaning that it could never reach Level 200 and enter the Divine Awakening stage until its owner was Level 250.
I clicked my tongue unconsciously as I admired the Ancient Divine Dragon’s stats. Right now, the Ancient Divine Dragon was without a doubt a true Divine Rank mount in every sense of the word. Not only did it give 5,000 points to every base attribute, it even increased my max HP by 1 million, the single most important stat in my upcoming adventure. The more HP I got, the greater it was my chance to survive with my new 50% lifesteal and 50% damage reduction!
The other thing that caught my concern was this new skill my little dragon learned called "Divinity Creation”. Supposedly, it would create a Divinity for its master when the requirements were met.
I shuddered the moment I saw this skill. In fact, I could already envision myself becoming more OP than ever before. Could this "Divinity Creation" skill be the reason I wasn’t able to form a Divinity when I became an Asura God? Now that I met all the requirements, could it create my own unique Divinity?
Without hesitation, I tapped the skill right in front of Lin Yixin!
"Roar!"
My little dragon was still rubbing its head against my shoulder when I tapped the skill. It immediately let out a soft growl, left my side and started glowing to the point where the ground itself was shaking slightly. Its body bulged a little, and some sort of object seemed to be crawling up its neck. Finally, it opened its mouth and spat out a blood-red crystal that looked like a rhombus-shaped jade. It was a short distance away from me, but I could still sense the power it contained. It was a Divinity alright. It was my own Divinity of Death and the power both Sophie and Xinran had learned before!
"What… is that?" Lin Yixin’s attractive lips parted as she stared at me and the Ancient Divine Dragon.
The Divinity slowly floated to me before embedding itself into my forehead. It felt like a crystal that was both scorching hot yet impossibly cold was trying to enter my brain. I gritted my teeth and endured the exceedingly unpleasant sensation. This was the pain I must endure if I wished to ascend to become a god, enter the Purgatory, and find Xinran. Otherwise, my promise to her would be nothing but a hilarious declaration of a weakling.
……
A while later, the pain ravaging my body gradually disappeared. My mind soon returned to full clarity as well.
Ding!
System Notice: Congratulations, you have ascended to become an Asura God. You have gained a new attribute, "Flight", and mastery over the six primordial laws: Wind, Fire, Ice, Earth, Thunder and Light. The damage of all law-based skills are increased, and your three existing skills—Divine Deterrence, Unusual Physique and Murderous Intent—have been successfully activated!
……
Flight?
I felt a bit different, as if I had more control over my body. As I stared at the new attribute ub confusion, I thought of flight and soon found myself rising slowly until I was about half a meter above ground. I looked down at Lin Yixin. Normally, this was only possible with Heavenly River Transformation active. Obviously, that wasn’t the case.
Lin Yixin’s mouth fell open once more as she watched me. "Have you become a god, Little Cheat?"
I nodded. "Yep. I’m now an Asura God, I think."
"Heehee. That’s wonderful!"
She clapped her hands once before jumping into the air. Then, she hugged my neck and kissed me affectionately on the cheek, saying, "Bring me with you to grind after you return to the human realms, okay? The flight speed of a divine expert must be amazing…"
I said in half-exasperation and amusement, "Yes, but get down already. There are still a lot of people in the area, you know?"[1]
"Mn…"
……
I checked the time. There were only 47 minutes left before the system maintenance, which wasn’t really enough time to seek out Rinser and complete my next promotion. Oh well, I could do it after the system maintenance was over.
I wrapped an arm around Lin Yixin’s thin waist and asked her, "Yiyi, what is the best potion you can make right now?"
Lin Yixin blinked once before answering, "I’m grinding for Rank 14 Health Potions right now. I think I can make them with another day or two, but I can’t say for certain because the ingredients are super hard to get. Why are you asking?"
I thought for a moment before answering, "Please create as many Rank 14 Health Potions for me. I won’t have a place to resupply once I’ve entered the Purgatory, so I can only rely on your potions. I know this is very unfair toward you, but please help me this time, Yiyi!"
She punched me once in the chest before leaning against me, "Idiot. Of course I’ll help you. You shouldn’t even need to ask something this obvious…"
"Sorry, sorry. In that case, can you help me buy another 50 Magic Repair Oils? Again, there won’t be a place to repair my equipment after I enter the Purgatory. Actually, I think I’ll need more than 50…"
Lin Yixin gritted her teeth. "I give you an inch, and you take a mile? One Magic Repair Oil costs over 10,000 gold, you greedy bastard!"
I side-eyed her. "Can’t part ways with just 500k gold? Fine, I’ll ask Eve to buy them for me…"
"Noooo, I’ll buy them… it’s still 500k gold though. I won’t ask you to pay for them, but you've gotta treat me to lunch later…"[2]
"Sure. I’ll pay for 50 lunches over 50 Magic Repair Oils any day…"
"Despicable!"
……
We chatted a bit longer before logging out of the game. I could use the rest anyway. The next time I logged into the game, I might very well be entering the Purgatory and face off against the harshest trials of my gaming life!
1. T/N: oh, so you’re fine showing off your abilities to complete strangers, but not your actual friends and family? ☜
