“You know quite a lot.” Gu Yang praised Feng Jue.
Feng Jue smiled shyly, with a hint of pride in his eyes that he couldn’t hide. “Sister, you said if I memorized three hundred Tang poems, I could recite them even if I can’t write my own.”
Gu Yang nodded, her expression serious. “These poems are the gems of Chinese culture. We must pass them on and build cultural confidence.”
Gu Jin eyed Feng Jue skeptically. She didn’t expect this “puppy” to know something so refined.
She wasn’t fond of these elegant poems herself, but since her sister liked them, she’d make the effort!
...After seeing Gu Yang’s game name, Feng Jue secretly came up with his own: Wounded.
Shen Ran didn’t deserve her, but he did. The name felt right. He’d marry Sister Yang when he grew up!
Too lazy to think of her own name, Gu Jin turned to her sister. “Yangyang, give me a game name.”
Gu Yang thought for a moment. “How about ‘Whale Fall’?”
Gu Jin entered it without hesitation.
Curious, Shen Ran asked, “Yangyang, what does ‘Whale Fall’ mean?”
Before Gu Yang could answer, Feng Jue scoffed, “A dead whale.”
Gu Yang paused. “Technically true, but when a whale falls, new life is born. It’s actually pretty romantic.”
Gu Jin nodded. “Sister’s right.”
Feng Jue was just jealous.
What surprised him, though, was that Feng Jue didn’t ask Gu Yang for help with his name.
Gu Ying, following Gu Yang’s playful style, casually named his account “Double Image.” It was simple, straightforward—just Double Image.
Cao Cuo, who was up early, got stuck with the name “Poop Shopper” because Gu Yang often joked that he was Big Orange’s poop scooper.
Shen Ran suggested excitedly, “There are so many of us! We could start an eSports team in the future.”
Gu Yang, thinking of her less-than-stellar gaming skills, quickly declined. “I’m sitting this one out.”
Seeing Shen Ran’s disappointment, she added, “You guys play. I’ll watch. When you win the eSports championship, I’ll be the one collecting your trophies.”
At the mention of “eSports champion,” Shen Ran’s eyes lit up. “Yes, yes! We’ll definitely win the championship!”
Becoming an eSports champion had been his dream since he was young. His parents had supported him fully, even planning to send him to an eSports club. But after the accident that left him and his sister orphans, he thought that dream was lost forever—until Gu Yang reignited his hope.
The thought of one day becoming an eSports legend filled him with excitement. “The team needs a name! Yangyang, give us something epic and strong!”
Gu Yang said thoughtfully, “Something domineering… let me think. How about ‘Blue Whale’?”
As she spoke, she picked up a pen and paper and sketched a small whale.
Shen Ran frowned. “That’s too cute. It’s not fierce like a lion or a tiger.”
Gu Yang smiled. “Who says it’s not powerful? The blue whale is the largest animal in the world.”
Shen Ran, curious, asked, “How big is it?”
Gu Yang thought for a moment. “Bigger than this entire internet cafe. Its blood vessels are so large, a child could fit inside. Your lions and tigers wouldn’t even fill the gaps between its teeth.”
Shen Ran was stunned.
And just like that, Team Blue Whale was born in that small internet cafe.
Gu Yang noticed how much Feng Jue, Gu Jin, and the others enjoyed gaming, and with Shen Ran’s dream of becoming an eSports champion, she added forming an eSports team to their plans.
Even though she didn’t play herself, she kept up with eSports news and competitions online.
