Chapter 532 - I Don’t Like Ignorant Girls
Chapter 532: I Don’t Like Ignorant Girls
It was as if those overturned cars had never happened.
Tan Mo unconsciously stopped for a moment, but Wei Keli had already appeared in front of her.
“Momo,” Wei Keli called out to her as his eyes fell on Tan Mo’s face.
He was not hallucinating.
But strangely, Tan Mo’s face was still the same as before.
Why did it suddenly seem like she was so much prettier?
Her pale cheeks glowed with a red undertone, making her fair skin seem almost translucent.
“Ke…” As soon as Tan Mo opened her mouth to speak, she felt confused by their seniority.
She was now Wei Zhiqian’s girlfriend.
That meant she was the same seniority as her uncle.
Theoretically speaking, she was now a senior to Wei Keli.
Thus, she shouldn’t be calling him Brother Keli anymore.
Tan Mo decided not to call out his name. Instead, she just smiled. “What a coincidence.”
“Momo, why aren’t you calling me Brother Keli anymore?” Wei Keli was clearly unpleased. “Are you still mad at me for what happened at the Hot Spring Villa?”
Tan Mo kept quiet.
‘Here he goes. Wei Keli is going to start again.’
Just as she thought, she was right about him.
“Momo, I know you said that it was okay, but you were just pretending to be the bigger person because you were afraid that I’d be unhappy,” Wei Keli said. “If you like someone, it’s only normal that you’d feel upset seeing them hugging someone else. I completely understand.”
“I’m not,” Tan Mo said with a blank expression.
This was what she was dreading.
Wei Keli was an extremely narcissistic and arrogant man.
According to the Wei Keli she knew in the past, the more she showed that she didn’t mind about what happened at the Hot Spring Villa, the more he would think that she didn’t care about him.
And sure enough, Wei Keli hadn’t bothered her for a while.
If she showed even the slightest indifference toward Wei Keli, he would make up a big drama all by himself about hatred out of love.
Just like what he was doing now.
Tan Mo cursed herself for being careless in her heart.
She was too focused on their seniority that she totally forgot about his ridiculous sense of morality.
Wei Keli smirked and said confidently, “You must have been avoiding me all this while because you were too angry to see me. I was wondering why I couldn’t find you anywhere. Even if you were busy with school, there’s no way I couldn’t have seen you around at all.”
“Momo, if you’re angry with me you can just tell me. There’s no need to pretend to be cool about it.”
Tan Mo was speechless.
All she could feel right now was regret.
If she knew this would happen, she wouldn’t have bothered about their seniority.
Without Wei Keli pestering her, she had been going about her days a lot more comfortably lately.
She had been more relaxed, which was why she had let her guard down. Clearly, she was too careless.
“I’m really not angry about it.” Tan Mo didn’t want to call him Brother Keli anymore. She felt disgusted calling him that way. Besides, the term of endearment clashed with Wei Zhiqian’s seniority.
“Momo, if you’re mad just say so.” Wei Keli furrowed his brows, feeling a little impatient. “I hate it when there’s a miscommunication between us and we have to play guessing games. You act as if you’re all cool, but if I didn’t try to cheer you up, you would probably stay mad at me and avoid seeing me forever.”
“For a while, I haven’t contacted you because I believed you when you said you weren’t mad at me, but I know, in reality, you were actually pissed,” Wei Keli said. “Before this, I hadn’t realized, but seeing your attitude now, I get it. I explained to you before that I didn’t mean to hurt you on purpose. I hope you can understand that. I know that you’re always very understanding and considerate of me. Rest assured, I won’t let your feelings for me go unnoticed.”
Even for someone like Tan Mo, she found Wei Keli’s overconfidence unbearable.
“I really don’t mind. No matter who you are with, I don’t care.” Tan Mo wasn’t sure if Wei Keli would listen to what she was saying. “Before, I only regarded you as a brother, who was fun to hang out with when we were younger. I don’t think of you as anything more. About the engagement and getting married, it’s all just in your head. I, including my parents and brothers, have never wanted that from you.”
“They never thought about having me marry you.” The expression on Tan Mo’s face was so serious that it was almost cold. “I never wanted that either.”
“How come?” Wei Keli smiled, completely disregarding Tan Mo’s explanation. “At the time, you were much too young to remember, so you probably don’t know what it meant. But I remember. I remember it clearly that both your mother and mine agreed. They said it was good for us to start getting along as children so that we could foster a good relationship and get married one day.”
“Because our two families are close, and your parents watched me grow up since I was just a kid, they know me really well. I’m sure they feel at ease leaving you in my hands because they know that I will treat you well,” Wei Keli said.
Tan Mo thought, ‘It’s because they know you well, and that’s why they don’t trust you!’
“Really? I had no clue!” Tan Mo looked surprised.
Wei Keli thought Tan Mo believed him and changed her mind.
Before he had the chance to celebrate, he heard Tan Mo say, “But no one in my family has ever told me about this. I guess that means it was just our parents joking around, which means they weren’t serious about it. So, you shouldn’t take it seriously either and save yourself the unnecessary pressure. Just go after the girl you like. You can be with whoever you want. You don’t have to worry about me.”
Tan Mo smiled so cheerfully that her eyes became half-moons, but the smile did not reach the depths of her eyes.
It was a fake smile she had perfected for socializing purposes.
“Besides, a guy your age must’ve had your fair share of dating. Don’t let yourself miss out on all the opportunities just because of a little joke made by a couple of adults over ten years ago,” Tan Mo said with the same fake smile plastered on her face.
“Back when I didn’t remember a thing, our parents may have mentioned it. But ever since I was old enough to remember, they never brought it up again. That means it’s clearly nothing important, so don’t take it to heart,” Tan Mo said.
Wei Keli frowned. “Momo, there’s no point if you keep going on like this. Are you still mad at me and Yuan Keqing? There really is nothing going between me and her. I just pitied her because she had it rough. That was all. If you’re still angry about that, you might as well just say it. I can explain it to you. But if you’re angry while pretending to be understanding, how am I supposed to act?”
“You’ve been giving me the cold shoulder for so long, I get it. But if you keep this up, then it’ll be over between us.” Wei Keli pursed his lips slightly and spoke with much dismay. “I don’t like girls who act ignorant.”
Tan Mo was about to throw up.
The words coming out from Wei Keli’s mouth were awfully demeaning.
He pitied Yuan Keqing because she had it rough?
How was her life rough?
If she had it rough, then what about the rest of the people in the entire world?
Tan Mo pursed her lips impatiently. “Whoever you like is truthfully none of my concern. I told you from the start that I don’t like you, so stop making things up and reading too much into it.”
“Let me be very clear. First, my family has no intention of me marrying you. Second, my family doesn’t need me to build connections for them by going through any sort of arranged marriage, so they won’t force me to marry anyone at all.”
