Chapter 391 - Cross Swords
Chapter 391: Cross Swords
An arc of lightning followed Cao Zheng’s sword as it whizzed through the air straight at Ye Mo.
Whoosh!
Ye Mo stared at Cao Zheng with a sneer. He wasn’t as weak as the last time he’d fought Cao Zheng. He didn’t bother dodging, and instead formed his Dragon Spear. With one swipe, spear light charged out like a furious dragon, filling with air with a thunderous roar.
Bang!
Their attacks collided and the lightning bolt exploded, sending a shower of electrical sparks everywhere.
“Three Thousand Phantom Lightnings!” Cao Zheng yelled and launched a new attack. An intense current of electricity coiled around his sword as he swung it once again, filling the air with sword lights. Each of the sword lights rumbled with the sound of thunder.
Instantly, an area of several kilometers was covered by countless sword lights. The Wushuang League members and Lei Xiao were all shocked at the force of the attack. They couldn’t understand why Cao Zheng would suddenly attack Ye Mo without restraint.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Each attack was aimed straight at Ye Mo, and each sword light carried with it a lightning bolt capable of leveling a mountain with a single strike.
The force of his attack was proof showed that Cao Zheng offered no quarter, he meant to completely overwhelm Ye Mo. One misstep, and it would all be over.
Despite the sword lights around him, Ye Mo stood still, unmoving, expression serene.
Numerous sword lights reached him, Ye Mo left afterimages behind as he pushed his Technique of Interchangeability to its limit. His body moved like a shadow, a frosty look appeared in his eyes.
“Sky Blood Cycle!” He unleashed the first martial technique he comprehended from the Sky Blood Spear. A terrifying Blood Qi erupted and whizzed out, shattering the sword lights around him.
Kill!
Ye Mo jumped and started clashing with the Violet Lightning Sword with his Dragon Spear repeatedly. Each time they collided, sparks flew and the sound of the collisions echoed around them.
Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!
They clashed at high speed, quickly reaching the point where the naked eye couldn’t see the martial techniques they used. They battled for only the span of a few breaths before the ice around them shattered. The participants from Wushuang League and the kingdom started to retreat from the area.
Bang!
After another collision, the two separated. Wings unfurled, they stabilized themselves and hovered in the air.
“How did he get so strong?” Cao Zheng wiped the corner of his lips and glared at Ye Mo with a sinister glint in his eyes.
“That Ye Mo really is powerful,” Zhao Huan said in astonishment. “He’s fought Cao Zheng to a standstill. Although Cao Zheng has yet to reveal his full strength, he’s still a Heaven’s Gate Realm powerhouse with a Violet Lightning Sword.”
Cao Zheng was the number one genius of Cao Clan from Heaven’s Wall City. He had already entered the Heaven’s Gate Realm by the time he was 20 years old. He was appointed as the successor to Cao Zhengchun, commander of the imperial guards. He was one of the geniuses most likely to enter the Transcendence Realm one day.
But Ye Mo was even scarier than him. Only in the early-stage True Energy Realm, he still managed to fight Cao Zheng to a standstill.
“Interesting,” Chen Yihan said from the VIP seats. “Truly interesting. I’ve been underestimating him, it seems. I wonder if you can survive this round. If you’re eliminated in the first round, it doesn’t matter how strong you are individually.”
“Mo’er, hang on! You can’t lose!” Xuan Ji grew anxious. “As long as you survive the first round, I believe you can defeat Cao Zheng with your strength.”
“Cao Zheng, with your current strength, defeating me won’t be easy,” Ye Mo said before wagin his spear again. “But this isn’t the time for us to have our final battle. I’ll see you in the second round!” He shot away, towards Lei Xiao, and dragged Lei Xiao in his wake as he sped off into the distance.
“Trying to run? You won’t get away from me that easily!” The sky darkened and Ye Mo and Lei Xiao were surrounded by darkness.
Both Ye Mo, Lei Xiao, and Ye Mo’s clone who was protecting Lei Xiao had all sank into Luo Feng’s will.
“Protect Ye Mo and Lei Xiao!” Zhao Huan howled and appeared before them.
“Sister Zhao Huan, that Cao Zheng is very powerful. Should we really offend him just to protect Ye Mo?” a Wushuang League member asked.
“We need to honor our alliance,” Zhao Huan said. “How long before this round ends?”
“One minute!”
“One minute?” she said. “Ok. You guys deal with his teammates, I’ll deal with Cao Zheng. As long as we survive this minute, all of us will advance to the next round,” Zhao Huan said.
“One minute?” Cao Zheng looked at Zhao Huan coldly and said with disdain, “Do you think you can last a full minute against me? Ye Mo and his companion have both sank into someone else’s will. You don’t know if they can survive or not. You’re just looking for trouble trying to protect them. If you leave now, you might be able to advance to the next round on your own.”
“Cao Zheng, I’ve been wanting to fight you for a long time.” Zhao Huan didn’t listen to a word Cao Zheng said. “Let’s see if the people from the kingdom are as good as they say.” She charged Cao Zheng with her Firedragon Saber.
“You’re courting death!” When Cao Zheng saw that Zhao Huan dared reject his offer, a dazzling violet lightning erupted from his sword, causing the ice around them to start shaking.
Bang!
The violet lightning turned into a huge qilin that stood before Cao Zheng. With a wave of his sword, the lightning qilin whizzed through the air and crashed onto Zhao Huan.
The lightning qilin was incomparably forceful. Zhao Huan’s face fell. She held her saber before her and blocked the attack. She was forced several steps backward while her body was invaded by the electrical currents, senses.
Cao Zheng howled with laughter as he waved his sword again, sending another lightning qilin in Zhao Huan’s direction.
Bang!
A thin figure flew out and vanished after turning into a clump of light.
The dark space vanished and Ye Mo shot out of it. He opened his palm and huge Bright Dragon formed in midair and restrained the lighting qilin. The dragon opened its mouth and bit down, causing the qilin to whine miserably before vanishing in a rain of lightning.
It all happened in the blink of an eye, everyone looked on in shock.
Ye Mo had fallen into Luo Feng’s will, but he survived and was able to defeat Luo Feng.
Within and without the Heaven Origin Mirror, nobody knew what had happened in that dark space, but this was enough proof that, even with just the strength of True Energy Realm, Ye Mo was powerful enough to defeat a Heaven’s Gate Realm powerhouse.
Lei Xiao stood in place, staring blankly for a long time. He was the only one who had seen how terrifying Ye Mo actually was.
“The first round of the league war is now over!”
