The Invincible Dragon Emperor

Forty miles under the Pond of Dragons was an underground palace which was completely sealed off where a golden headless corpse was stored.

Lu Li and Patriarch of Law Enforcement wondered for a long time about such a strange thing. Due to the horrible pressure coming from the immortal’s corpse, neither Lu Li nor Patriarch of Law Enforcement had the courage to check further or to have extravagant hopes of controlling the corpse.

At the current moment though, Lu Li was in a dead-end. He had to take the risk. After he went into the tunnel, his entire body was tightening up, and he was afraid to go too fast.

It had been a long time. Lu Li had recovered, and he had another Quasi Relic armor. That being said… at the moment, he would not feel safe even if he wore 10 Quasi Relic armors.

As he descended slowly, his nervousness grew. His palms were sweating, and his back was soaked with sweat. However, his eyes showed determination. There was no going back for Lu Li now.

He was four miles in. He could no longer see the light coming from above. It was like he was in the Transcendent State where he was surrounded by darkness. His heart was pounding faster, and his breathes were getting heavier. He had a feeling that the dirt was crushing on him to rip him apart.

Twenty miles!

His heart was pounding more violently as if it were going to leap out from his mouth. He took a deep breath, made up his mind and sped up.

Forty miles.

This was close to the end. Last time when he dug the tunnel down, this was how far he reached. Lu Li stopped. At the moment, he was less nervous.

This was how he had always been. He was surprisingly calm at the critical juncture of life and death. He had nothing to lose other than his life if it came to the worst.

He did not use psychic power to check and just flew straight down. At the bottom, he still refrained from using psychic power.

He knew that once he did, he would be enveloped by a horrifying energy that could immobilize him. Last time, when he and Patriarch of Law Enforcement came to check the headless corpse, this was what happened.

Without his psychic power, he did not have a strong sense of his surroundings. But he could feel the chilliness which was making Lu Li’s descend to the underground palace uncomfortable.

“Buzzing!”

The fire-red mark between his eyebrows lit up. Just like the last time, the Dragon Demon was sending him a message for him to leave immediately. The Dragon Demon had felt fatal danger.

Lu Li ignored the Dragon Demon. He took out the Cold Blade saber and began to dig further down. He remembered last time he stood there, he extended his psychic power to its furthest reach and could only have a faint sense of the underground palace. His psychic power could cover a distance of 20 miles, which meant that the underground palace and the headless corpse were at least 20 miles further down.

Lu Li was fast. The saber swirled around, turning the dirt and rocks into dust. He had let the threat of the headless corpse slide from his mind and continued to go down.

Two miles, six miles, 10 miles!

Lu Li realized that if he was not using his psychic power, the spooky and chilly energy from the headless corpse did not spread across. Though he was feeling increasingly uncomfortable, he could still move and thereby could run away at any time.

“Keep digging!”

Lu Li swung the saber to speed up his digging and tried his best to dig further down. Digging a tunnel in such a mountain could be fast. In the time for dozens of breaths, Lu Li dug another few miles.

Lu Li was merely a couple of miles away from that underground palace. He was slowing down. It was not because he was nervous again but… the air was incredibly gloomy and cold there. He felt as if he was in an ice cellar. His body was numb, and he had lost agility.

As a matter of fact, it was not coldness that was presented here but a feeling in a person’s heart. Just like when a person was going across a graveyard in the dead of the night. The temperature might not be low, but the person would feel chills down their spine and have goosebumps with a shudder of horror.

“There are a couple more miles. I don’t think I can discharge the Dead Soul Charms that far.”

Lu Li murmured to himself. He kept digging but slowly. The Dragon Armor and Quasi Relic armor had both come out. However, he was well aware that if the headless corpse wished him dead, not even a Relic armor could protect him…

Lu Li spent the time for one incense stick to burn to go down for another two miles. He could not help but stop.

He was enveloped by a gloomy and cold feeling. He was trembling. and his teeth were chattering. He looked pale. His white hair was let down and covered in dust. He did not appear to be different from a ghost.

“I cannot go down further! I cannot go closer!”

Those were the things reoccurring in Lu Li’s mind. He felt feeble and fear in his soul. This feeling made his flesh creep.

“I am less than two miles away from the underground palace, I suppose.”

Lu Li thought himself. He could make the Dead Soul Charms flew down from there, but he was not confident. What if the Dead Soul Charms were no longer effective after traveling a certain distance?

“Another mile!”

Lu Li made up his mind. A glint of red glow rose in his eyes. He swung the saber and exerted great effort to go further down. He was going faster as a matter of fact.

He swung his saber at full strength. The rocks were crushed into dust. He kept falling. Nothing was on his mind other than swinging his saber forcefully.

One thousand feet, three thousand feet, a mile, a mile and a half!

At this moment, Lu Li suddenly startled back to his senses. He had dug for a mile and a half. It was lucky that he had come back to his senses. Otherwise, if he went deeper, he might have dug into that underground palace and fall directly onto that headless corpse.

This idea made him shiver. He took a deep breath and rubbed his face. He told himself to calm down and to pull himself together. He had no other option. Either he took control of that immortal’s body down there or stay underground with the corpse forever.

At this point, Lu Li did not rush into anything. He sat on the ground for the time for one incense stick to burn to recover to his peak state. He expanded the tunnel with his saber and then dug out a hole nearby.

“This is about it!”

His Interspatial Ring glowed as he took out many blood-red wooden charms with strange patterns and words on it. They were very intricate-looking.

“Go!”

Lu Li took one Dead Soul Charm and discharged it to his front left. For all this time, he did not use psychic power to check and only relied on his memory to find the headless corpse’s location.

He exerted great strength. The Dead Soul Charm was like a dagger. It pierced into the ground and flew down.

Since Lu Li used spiritual energy to make the Dead Soul Charms, there was a trace of spiritual imprint in them. He could sense the location of the Dead Soul Charms.

He closed his eyes and focused his mind on the Dead Soul Charms which was moving down, slower and slower.

“Bang!”

Lu Li sensed the Dead Soul Charm suddenly sped up and then smashed into a “wall”. Lu Li trembled. He knew the Dead Soul Charm had bumped into the headless corpse.

“Explode!”

He shouted. Deep down, the Dead Soul Charm exploded. At the same time, Lu Li sensed intimidating energy spread out from down below as if a horrible beast had been alerted, and it had opened its eyes and showed its tusks…
