Chapter 950: Flawless Arcanite Rifle

Hameya was only a level 50 minor Boss and was the type of monster that had no intelligence. He was just like a punching bag with a bit more health, so it was only a matter of time before Water Fairy took him down.
When Lu Li heard Water Fairy’s voice, she sounded like she was panicking.
“Someone’s coming; what do we do?”
“What are you worried about? They don’t know you have the treasure map. Just pretend you’re killing some quest monsters and scare them away.”
Lu Li found this a little funny; was Water Fairy feeling guilty?
“Right,” Water Fairy said, coming back to her senses.
It was a Mage, a Warlock and a Paladin who had approached her.
“You guys need something?”
The female Thief who was killing monsters turned her head and revealed her beautiful face. The three players were left stunned on the spot.
“No…no…” the Mage stuttered.
It wasn’t a rare thing for players to steal monsters and kill other players, but it was rare for people to steal from a girl, especially she was pretty. The three of them had only come over out of curiosity, but they never expected to see their goddess—Water Fairy.
That’s right – they immediately recognized Water Fairy.
“If you guys don’t need anything, then please don’t disrupt me from my quest,” Water Fairy said as she refocused her attention on the monster in front of her.
The three players didn’t get angry at all for Water Fairy’s arrogance. In fact, this was the image that Water Fairy had displayed to the public. She was cold, arrogant and wasn’t interested in talking to anyone.
“Do you need our help? I…” the Paladin mumbled, finally finding his voice.
“No, thanks,” Water Fairy declined. “I don’t like it when others watch me fight. If you guys don’t need anything, then please leave.”
“Alright, make sure to stay safe,” the three players said, leaving worried, as if they had some kind of relation to Water Fairy. They were all too busy fawning over her to even pay attention to what kind of monster she was killing.
“I got the keys. What next?” Water Fairy asked.
“Pass them to me, then I’ll refresh the map. Tell me your coordinates; I’ll go and find you. Make sure you stay hidden from others, since you have to go and open the treasure chest later,” Lu Li said.
“That was easy. It seems like the treasure chest system has some loopholes – you just need to ask someone else to help you obtain it,” Water Fairy said after reporting her coordinates.
“Not everyone flies, and these treasure bandits aren’t that stupid,” Lu Li disagreed.
However, what Water Fairy said wasn’t wrong either. After everyone figured out this method, life for treasure bandits wouldn’t be that easy anymore.
In opposition to the treasure bandits were the treasure hunters. They accepted the requests from the owner of the treasure map to help find the treasure, then take commission from it in return. These two parties often fought against each other and there was no way to resolve the conflict between them.
Lu Li didn’t even change back to his human form; he just landed on Water Fairy’s shoulder and requested for a trade.
Water Fairy carefully tilted her head to study the crow on her shoulder. On one hand she was curious as to how a human could transform into a crow, and on the other, there was greed. Of course, it wasn’t greed directed towards Lu Li – she just wanted to be able to transform like he could.
It was only when Lu Li obtained the key that he would then be able to activate the location on the treasure map for the chest. This was an unavoidable step.
“It’s a bit far from here – looks like Hameya hid the goods where he used to hunt. The coordinates are xxx; you should bring the keys with you to open the chest.”
After they traded, Lu Li flapped his wings and left Water Fairy.
He scanned the corpse on the floor; it was Hameya’s. He could imagine Hameya, who had lost his rationality, wandering amongst his fellow tribesmen as he attacked any players that passed by. By then, he wouldn’t have remembered the will that he left to the adventurers; he wouldn’t have remembered to go easy on those who had come to grant his final request.
A man who wished for death for the sake of others was definitely an honorable man…
In this land that was filled with the mania of the Scarlet Crusade and the coldness of the Scourge army, Lu Li sincerely apologized to the Troll who had passed away.
“Ah, right, he also dropped a recipe,” Water Fairy suddenly remembered.
“What recipe? You can take it; I can’t let you do things for free,” Lu Li offered, then thought to himself, “I’ll give you something now – that way, you won’t be able to bring yourself to ask for something from the treasure chest later.”
“I didn’t learn Engineering – this is a Recipe: Flawless Arcanite Rifle. It seems pretty good,” Water Fairy said, then frowned and realized that she barely had any high level Engineers in her guild.
“Wait, Flawless Arcanite Rifle? Are you sure?” Lu Li was caught by surprise and nearly flew into the tree ahead.
“Yep, is it a good item? This is the recipe. I can’t see its attributes yet, and there’s a five-time limit to it,” Water Fairy said. She didn’t think this was anything good. After all, this was a loot from a minor boss, and a weak one at that.
“It is a good item; pass me the recipe,” Lu Li said, going back on his words. “You can take something from the treasure chest later.”
“Don’t worry about what’s in the treasure chest; you can use this recipe five times. You might as well make one for me.” Water Fairy wasn’t dumb; she wasn’t going to give up on anything that Lu Li said was good.
“Alright, I promise that you won’t be disappointed.
The Arcanite Rifle was a common item – you could learn the recipe from an NPC, but the Flawless Arcanite Rifle was a different story.
Not only did the Attribute change, but they also came with another special effect.
Amongst all ranged weapons with a Snipe effect, the Flawless Arcanite Rifle was the one with the lowest level requirement. Any ranged weapon with this effect would be favored by close-combat players who weren’t Hunters, but could equip long-ranged weapons.
The biggest advantage to the Snipe effect was its set true damage.
With the same ranged weapon, a Hunter might be able to deal 300 points of damage, but a Thief or Warrior with the same mightn’t even be able to deal 30 points of damage. As such, the 200 extra points of set true damage from this Snipe effect became very precious.
At the same time, it also provided a bonus attack range. The usual attack range for Hunters was about 30 yards, but this Snipe effect provided a range of 45 yards.
This meant that players could pull monsters from a safe distance and have better ability to chase their targets in PVP situations.
