Chapter 928: Villains Talk Too Much

The Old Knight was not one to be underestimated.
During a war that involved the Brotherhood of the Horse, the members of the Brotherhood lost their minds after the death of Lothar on the battlefield. They were all suicidal, charging into the enemies, which led to their demise. This resulted in the annihilation of the strongest knighthood in Stormwind.
However, the Old Knight survived without losing any limbs. His luck aside, he was already an extremely formidable Paladin.
As soon as the Faceless One was exposed to the Holy Light, he instantly screamed in agony.
Although the damage was not significant, the Faceless One hated the Holy Light. Samuelson was then absolutely enraged, and began to fight back in his Faceless One form.
The Old Knight was bounced around the battlefield like a rubber ball.
“What are you waiting for? Aren’t you going to come and help?” he asked, despite not believing that Lu Li’s puny strength was going to do much.
“Alright then. Your wish is my command,” Lu Li said as he prepared himself, then rushed forward.
This Boss’ level seemed to be fairly high and furthermore, this was a transformation. Lu Li doubted his abilities to be able to tank a round of hits from the Faceless One. After all, the evidence of the Faceless One’s strength was already on display.
These royal guards were all stronger than Lu Li individually.
However, his transformation into the Faceless One seemed to be deteriorating. Lu Li used Cheap Shot on him, which led to no immediate effect, but the Sinister Strikes after that caused a fair bit of damage.
Many villains were said to suffer under their own carelessness.
Perhaps it was because it was difficult being an undercover agent. It was finally time for the harvest – to kill the King.
Samuelson was an ambitious man. He had joined Twilight Hammer not because of the fear of being eradicated during the end times, but because he thought that the liberation of the people from the aristocracy had been stopped.
He had done this selflessly, for his people and his kingdom.
As such, his goal was not to only kill the King, but to destroy the King’s mental fortitude. He believed that once this was complete, his own belief would be strengthened.
However, one could not fail to mention that Samuelson was a prodigy – a prodigy who had flown under the radar.
He was inaugurated as a member of the Twilight Hammer while in Silithus, becoming one of the few who could transform into a Faceless One.
As his belief in the Twilight Hammer grew, his determination to become a representative and prophet of the Old God grew as well.
The doctrine of Twilight Hammer taught that, “The true disciples of the Old God will be reborn in the new world, and they will be remade with new bodies which will possess a power that exceeds the limits of flesh, as well as the limits of life and death.”
Unfortunately, all of this was going to be interrupted by two puny insects.
“Samuelson, give it up,” King Varian boomed as he sat upon the throne. “If you leave now, I can guarantee your survival.”
Lu Li began to frown in confusion, not understanding as to why the King had said that. After all, how could he not be worried about letting loose a person who could transform into a Faceless One? He had not met King Varian before, but he had heard that he ruled with an iron fist.
Lu Li did not think that it was right in making a promise like that. Samuelson could go on a killing rampage in the area if Varian let him go.
Where was the dignity and integrity of the King?
Whether Samuelson was let go or not was completely unrelated to Lu Li. He was only worried that if Varian had let Samuelson go free, he might fail the quest.
“You bunch of deceptive nobles. One day, you will all face the fires that burn on Judgment day and beg for mercy. I will watch as I am reborn into a new body and am granted an everlasting life and glory.”
Clearly, Lu Li’s worry was unnecessary. Samuelson was extremely zealous and passionate for Twilight Hammer, so he would not have retreated at this time.
He exchanged a blow with the Old Knight, who wearily deflected him.
Both of them were not at the peak of their powers, which meant that Lu Li’s existence in the fight was extremely important.
As Samuelson grew weaker and the fight was prolonged, Lu Li managed to stun him for a mere 0.5 seconds. The Old Knight then used these 0.5 seconds as a window of opportunity.
The Old Knight swung his blade and sliced off one of the Faceless One’s tentacles.
The Faceless One was clearly in excruciating pain as he let out a deafening roar. After all, these tentacles would have originated from Samuelson’s original body. Perhaps they would find out after the battle.
The Old Knight and Lu Li saw this and decided to use the most of this opportunity to finish him off.. Unfortunately, Lu Li could not use the Book of Ur since he had already used it earlier in an Instance Dungeon.
Samuelson’s Faceless One form had clearly begun to deteriorate. The first sign was that his defence was dropping. After killing so many guards, then fighting the King, he had emerged from the battle seemingly without any injuries. Despite all that, he was now taking a lot of damage from Lu Li and the Old Knight.
It was always better with someone there tanking the hits. Lu Li then consumed a health potion as he had lost some from the AoE hits from Samuelson.
Lu Li loved this method of fighting Bosses. Alongside the thrill of the hunt, he was also extremely keen for the items that would drop.
“Leave the rest to me. Go and tend to the King,” he said. At this point in time, Samuelson was already extremely weak.
He was extremely keen on finishing the battle as he had already poured out his blood and sweat for this fight.
After hearing the King mutter a few words, the patriotic Old Knight instantly left the Faceless One and went to the side of the King. Varian closed his eyes to meditate and regain his composure.
The Old Knight saw that the King was still bleeding from his injuries, so he desperately retrieved his antidotes and potions to try and help him.
Meanwhile, Lu Li was clearly having problems with the Faceless One. He had seen how the Old Knight was tanking hit after hit with no problems. When it came to his turn, each hit from Samuelson was a Critical strike.
The only way to prevent himself from dying was to decrease the damage received.
Fortunately for Lu Li, the Faceless One’s speed and attack saw the greatest decrease. As soon as Lu Li was unable to tank another hit, he would retreat a little and recover. He also had many skills with Lifesteal, so it was not a huge problem.
“Do you need help?” the Old Knight asked. He was nearly done with patching up King Varian. The Old Knight did not enter the battlefield without Lu Li requesting for assistance. After all, he could see that although it was difficult for Lu Li, he could still manage.
“No need. I’m alright.”
If the Old Knight re-joined at this stage of the battle, Lu Li would not come close to sniffing the loot.
