126 The Sun Elder
Afterward, he continued, "I like this condition of yours... okay... I won't ever force you to call me master unless you want to... I don't care about titles that much anyway... so don't worry about it."
"Now, tell that young girl to join us." Then he continued as he glanced at the golden beauty who was walking a little further behind them.
Virus didn't care if the golden beauty heard his condition or not, but nevertheless, he had told her to get away from them so the elder wouldn't feel disrespected in front of others as he wasn't aware of the intimacy between the two, so he asked her to leave them for a short period of time, while he told the pagoda master his condition.
The pagoda master though seemed to have realized Virus had done that for his sake, which made him like Virus' personality even more.
So seeing the pagoda master accept his condition, he signaled the golden beauty to return and walk by their side.
After the golden beauty joined them, much of the time hadn't passed when suddenly, an old bald man appeared beside the pagoda master, Virus, and the golden beauty who was walking almost side by side.
This old man had appeared so abruptly that even the golden beauty wasn't able to follow his speed and witness his appearance.
As soon as he appeared though, the pagoda master bowed in respect and uttered, "Greetings, respectful Sun Elder... what brings you to this humble one?"
The so-called Sun Elder nodded his head as he replied, "The sect's Authority Tablet just began to glow all of sudden... and when I put my qi in it, I could sense it was pointing toward the library...then I remembered a report which stated you volunteered to be the elder of this month's Inferior Disciple Recruitment examination... and If I remember correctly, today was the day of the second evaluation which is also held there... tell me... what did just happen there?"
Listening to his inquiry, the pagoda master was surprised as he hadn't expected that such an occurrence would take place when someone had achieved a hundred percent in the 'Examination Door'.
He wanted to keep this under wraps for a while but that seemed impossible now, so he began to reply, "The Authority Tablet probably began to shine because my disciple had just achieved a hundred percent completion in the examination..."
Hearing his explanations, the Sun Elder was honestly very surprised that someone had achieved a full hundred percent in the knowledge examination of the library, so he inquired further, "Oh... what's this disciple of yours called? Where is this junior?... And what's his level of cultivation?"
Pointing at Virus with his palm, the pagoda master introduced Virus, "In response to the Sun Elder, he is my disciple which had just achieved a hundred percent result." Then he continued with his introduction, "He's called Vee..."
"Oh... I haven't heard of you having a personal disciple called Vee before... what's going on?" The Sun Elder inquired further in doubt.
"... That's... that's because I've just accepted him as my personal disciple... he was one of the volunteers for this month's Inferior Disciple Recruitment... and seeing him achieve a hundred percent even though he's just a normal mortal made me interested in him, thus... I accepted him as my personal disciple." The pagoda master responded.
Listening to him talk, the Sun Elder checked Virus' level of cultivation, and instantly, became a little astonished that Virus had achieved a hundred percent just as a mortal because that was an impossible feat for a mortal to achieve under normal circumstances.
But soon, his astonishment died down because although achieving a hundred percent was incredible, it didn't mean anything to cultivators without having the talent in the body part too.
For example, if a person had heaven-defying comprehension abilities, but the talent of his body was just mediocre, even though that person will exceed other cultivators with just mediocre talent, he wouldn't be able to exceed them by much.
"I see, what color was he able to make the orb change into in the first evaluation?" So, taking another short glance at Virus, he looked back at the pagoda master again and asked.
It was obvious his astonishment had died down greatly as he seemed to be asking this question with the least amount of expectation like he was just waiting to hear a disappointing response from the elder.
'Damn it...' The pagoda master thought to himself and left with no other choice, he provided the Sun Elder with a response, "He achieved pale white..."
The pagoda master didn't say that Virus had achieved a colorless hue, because he believed that was a shocking result which would astonish anyone even more so than the pale white color if they interpreted what that might mean, so he decided to tell the half-truth which everyone would have an easier time to believe, and if anyone realized that he had achieved a colorless hue instead of the pale white color in the future and questioned him as to why he didn't tell the truth, he decided to just say he thought it didn't mean anything.
"Sigh... pale white huh? Like I expected... it's..." Listening to the pagoda master's answer, he sighed in disappointment as he began to state in a helpless tone, but suddenly, his voice froze as his eyes went wide in disbelief.
"What did you just say? I didn't hear wrong, did I? Did you say 'Pale White'?" The Sun Elder asked impatiently, losing his calm for the first time.
"Yes... pale white... lots of volunteers witnessed it... thinking the result might be wrong... I even re-examined him with another orb, but the result was the same." The pagoda master replied without any expression appearing on his face.
The Sun Elder was very shocked hearing the pagoda master confirm it again, because if what he stated was true, then this person in front of him was probably one of those hardly ever seen geniuses... and just the thought of a person being overpowered in both the body talent part and the comprehension part made his long beard shiver in excitement.
But then again, he began to wonder if it was possible for a natural born body to possess this kind of talent in both areas... because that was obviously very unlikely, and this conclusion only meant one thing to him, that the person in front of him had top-level secrets... secrets that might be even greatly helpful to him or anyone else.
Though he calmed down very quickly, as one of the advantages which came with his age and high level of cultivation was that he was able to control his emotions much easier.
However, after calming down, he remembered a particular utterance of the pagoda master, which made him begin to frown deeply as he questioned him, "You just said you accepted him as your personal disciple... did I hear that wrong?"
"...Yes, he is my personal disciple now and he has accepted it by himself willingly." With a frown in response, the pagoda master uttered.
"Do you think this kind of matter and this kind of talent is something you can decide on your own and just take him as your disciple before announcing it to the sect?" The Sun Elder questioned further with a serious expression appearing on his face.
