“Let’s not talk about such matters today,” Bai Qiming raised his glass to the Bai Clan leader and the Song Family members.
“You already have two outstanding family members, so you should at least allow your ancestors to rest for a while.” The Bai Clan leader wasn’t very interested in her either and didn’t ask further, “How did you learn about the news from Dean Jian? Are you familiar with the Jian Family?”

Upon hearing the Bai Clan leader’s words, Bai Qiming finally showed a smile on his face, “Shaoqi, aren’t you going to offer a toast to the elder clan leader?”
With the Bai Clan leader’s words, Bai Qiming felt that the position of the next clan leader of the Bai Family would very likely be conferred on him.
By his side, Bai Shaoqi also let out a sigh of relief and stood up.
No one else at the dining table spoke. Lady Song just gave Song Min a glance. Bai Lian had left the Bai Family for nearly a year now, and it was just after the college entrance examination. Why did she choose to return during this time?
After dinner, Bai Qiming saw the clan leader out, then turned to the butler, “Has she returned?”

“A concert?” Bai Qiming was surprised, somewhat unexpected that Dean Jian would specially come to Beicheng for it, “Go book several tickets.”
“Since everyone knows that Dean Jian is coming, it’s not certain that there will be tickets available, but I will try my best to find some,” the butler flipped through his schedule, “Should I book Mingtai Villa for the young lady’s party as usual?”
Many of the Bai Family’s banquets were held at Mingtai Villa.
Bai Lian and Bai Shaoqi’s previous birthday parties were also held there, which isn’t considered the most luxurious place in Beicheng.
Bai Qiming paused for a moment before saying, “This time, it will be at Jiahao. I will go there tomorrow.”
Jiahao Hotel, a global chain of hotels, was Beicheng’s most luxurious venue for hosting banquets, frequented by political and business dignitaries for their soirées.
Securing the banquet floor would cost six times more than Mingtai Villa. Even Bai Shaoke’s scholar celebration banquet was held there.
This wasn’t something the butler could simply secure with a phone call.
Not expecting Bai Qiming to choose this, the butler bowed his head, thinking that Bai Shaoqi’s status in the Bai Family was different from before.

Even if Bai Lian returned to Beicheng, Bai Qiming had no intention of meeting her.

The room was booked by Qiu Xuezheng, a small suite with a little sitting area and a bedroom, not very spacious. Bai Lian had taken a bath after she arrived.
The cellphone on the table in the living area started ringing.
She tied the sash of her robe and, holding a towel, went out to answer the call. The curtains in the room were drawn, and she leaned casually against the table.
On seeing the caller ID, it was Xu Nanjing.
“Little sister Bai Lian, today is the Dragon Boat Festival,” Xu Nanjing’s voice was cheerful.
Bai Lian’s thoughts drifted back, and she wiped her hair leisurely, “Mhm.”
Xu Nanjing, picking up on her tone, tried to gauge her mood. Though he was usually skilled at reading people, he felt somewhat uncertain with Bai Lian, so he probed, “The college entrance exams have just finished.”
He wasn’t a recent school leaver and hadn’t paid much attention to the exams, but he remembered that this year was Bai Lian’s.
