Chapter 13: Become a Subject of Renown
Chapter 13: Become a Subject of Renown
Because of the unique skill [Heavenly Grace], Shien could easily acquire skills that most people would need years or training or be unable to get even after a lifetime trying. Plus, every time he levels up, he’ll get the maximum amount of skill points possible, and even leveling up skills has become an exceptionally easy matter.
Based on the fact that the adventurer’s guild’s magic scanner could only reveal up to level 7 skills, the guild should believe that no one could easily get skills up to above level 7, right?
Plus, for those with average talent, with how few skill points they get and the large cost of skills, there’s basically no way for them to raise their skill levels all that high.
How many people could there be with maxed skills?
And even if they did have a maxed skill, how many of them could someone normal have?
Be it levels or skills, it all depends on personal talent and potential. That basically proves it that even if a genius could max out one skill, there’s no way they could max out all that many skills.
No one’s perfect. Even if someone could easily gain skills that they have a talent for, there’s no way that they’d be able to do the same for skills outside of those talents, never mind leveling them up.
According to the receptionist at least, not even gods or the Demon King could could get the full 100 skill points with every single level up. At most it might be possible to get the full 100 skill points with a few level ups.
Besides which, Shien learned from the receptionist, different skills, based on their different effects, will require differing amounts of skill points to learn or level up. There’s never been someone who could learn any skill with just 1 skill point, never mind leveling them up.
Generally speaking, the more powerful the skill, the more skill points it takes to learn and level up, and the higher the skill’s level, the more skill points it takes to get to the next level.
But with Shien’s [Heavenly Grace], Shien could not only get the full 100 skill points every level up, but he only needs 1 skill points to learn or level up any of them.
That’s something not even the gods or the Demon King could do.
Besides that, by now Shien had finally understood just how terrifying the power of his Holy Sword really is.
Putting everything else aside, just the effect of increasing the level by 100 is absolutely terrifying from Shien’s perspective.
It has to be said. In this world, the max level is 100.
Therefore, Shien while wielding the Holy Sword is already max level, and this is on top of the level he already has.
(Could it be that I’m already invincible in this world?)
The moment this thought came across Shien’s mind, he immediately rejected it.
Because, based on Shien’s own instincts, the Holy Sword might be strong, but it’s not enough to make him invincible.
No matter how you put it, besides levels, there’s also the difference in skills.
A high level only means that various stats like strength, vitality, agility, magic power, etc. are high. A person’s actual ability depends no only on level, but also skills.
A slightly weaker person who knows how to fight verses someone strong but have no idea, generally speaking, it’s the former who would win.
Even though a higher level means that they can get more skill points and use it to learn and level up more skills, but not everyone has the talent to learn lots of skills. Even the Holy Sword doesn’t give Shien extra skill points. All it does is raise Shien’s levels.
Besides, Shien doesn’t believe the Demon King would have worse skills than him.
Even if the Demon King didn’t have 15 maxed level skills like him, what if they have 150 level 7 or 8 skills?
Not only that, who knows if they have some kind of cheat unique or special skills?
It’s obvious just thinking about it. There’s still a lot before Shien could become invincible.
Don’t forget, Shien has only been in this world for 10 days.
If Shien could continue growing like this, then surpassing the Demon King is just a matter of time.
Besides which, the Holy Sword not only boosts level, but also skill level. It even has other effects.
Therefore, even if he can’t call himself invincible, Shien doesn’t need to look down on himself either.
Of course, right now, all Shien has shown to others is just a single abnormality.
Seeing that the surroundings had at some point quieted down and the crowds of adventurers that were looking over with surprise, suspicion, or curiosity, Shien let out a depressed sigh in his mind.
With this, he should have ended up a topic of note.
Well, whatever. Let’s get back to the main issue at hand.
“Since I’m already an adult, and I’ve reached level 10, I should be able to become an adventurer, right?”
Shien asked the receptionist before him.
“Yes.”
The receptionist immediately gave a nod and agreed as she begun noting some records down a quill and parchment.
“We will be temporarily registering you as an adventurer, but due to your low level and the fact that you are a newcomer, for your safety, our guild will first be putting you with an experienced party to get used to accepting and completing requests. In a month from now, if you’ve managed to gain that party’s recognition and recomendation, then we will grant you the status of a proper adventurer and the accompanying tag.”
On the other hand, if he didn’t manage to get that party’s recognition and recommendation, then Shien would have no choice but to retreat from the path of an adventurer.
It’s quite reasonable when you think about it.
Adventurer is the kind of job where they often have to experience life or death battles with demonic beasts, and they have to deal with various kinds of request makers. Some of those may even include people with high status, so if they want to complete that kind of requests, they’ll need various kinds of knowledge and abilities. It’s unrealistic to think that one could do things like it’s a game or certain novels, where they could easily join and earn an enormous fortune just by completing a ton of requests. The adventurer’s guild is an organization that’s spread across the world. To have been able to develop to this point requires a great deal of reputation and fame. If they just filled up their ranks with whomever and those people ended up making a mess of requests or failed to complete any request, then the guild would be the one to be distrusted by the populous.
Therefore, if someone wants to be an adventurer, they’ll need to pass the tests.
“This is your copy of the certification which gives you temporary rights to accept requests from the guild. It also allows you to freely enter and leave Lamdrion without need to pay the entry fee. The effective time is one month. Please keep it safe.”
The receptionist handed Shien a roll of parchment already tied with a string. It looked just like a scroll.
“Please report here at the guild tomorrow morning. The adventuring party you’ve been assigned to will be waiting for you here.”
Shien accepted the certificate, thanked the receptionist, and then left the adventurer’s guild.
The adventurers present watched Shien as he left. Only after Shien had fully exited the adventurer’s guild did they begin chatting again.
From this point on, the news of a new adventurer who reached level 10 but did not have a single skill started spreading.
Like Shien had though, he had become a subject of renown.
