Chapter 702 - The Celestial Webway
'The project is referred to as the Celestial Webway in the records. It is the same thing that was spoken about in the passage written in Ancient Sumerian that you came across earlier.'
Hao Xuan knew at once what Baracus was talking about, mainly because of the emotional passage that was attached to the name.
'From what I can gather from the information and references made in various places, it seems like this was the personal project of the God-Level entity that supervised this planet and acted as the prison's warden.'
'The idea behind the 'Celestial Webway' is not new. It was actually theorized by Progenitor and many others of his species but it was only a hypothesis without any actual proof of its existence. Over the various epochs of each era, there were always whispers in the shadows that someone had actually found it but...nothing was ever brought to light.'
'As for what it is, Celestial Webway is described as a sub-dimensional space that runs parallel to all the realms of creation. It spans all the various worlds including the Heavens, the Hells, and the countless landmasses scattered across the Void and the Abyss, hidden from sight for all but a few.'
Even the tone of Baracus's voice was quivering with excitement just from describing it.
'It is a network of incredibly complex system of arteries and veins, an ever-expanding labyrinth of gleaming channels, a mystical tapestry of hidden threads that endlessly weave across the veil between the dimensions of creation.'
'It is, for the lack of a better word, as incredible as it is improbable.'
Listening to the passionate and quite the poetic description from Baracus, Hao Xuan subconsciously inhaled sharply, partly because of the webway's nature and partly because of what it represented.
But Baracus did not give him much time to digest the information and quickly moved on to the next topic since they were already short on time.
'The 'process' is relatively simple. There are 24 basic runes that are designated as the 'Prime Letters'. The warden believed that these were the first-ever characters used to record knowledge since the beginning of time.'
'It says here that every language that is used today, any language that will ever exist in the future or has ever existed in the past, they all come from one of these 24 runes.'
'There is a long story attached to these runes detailing a supposed quest across time and space to gather the scattered runes. It was apparently undertaken by the one who first introduced the warden to the idea of the Celestial Webway but I will not go into that for the time being. It has been logged if you ever wish to read it in the future.' (A little something for one of the prequels)
'Simply put, these 24 runes act both as coordinates and keys. They can be inscribed on a surface in any sequence and once Spiritual energy is inserted into the runes in a specific order, they will open a gate into the Celestial Webway.'
'The recorded data suggests there are at least three other research facilities like this one scattered across this world and each one holds vital information pertaining to the project. You must find all three of them to have the knowledge needed to safely traverse the Webway and understand what it truly is.'
'But for now, if you insert spiritual energy into the runes on the wall in front of you, you can temporarily escape to one of the other planets this world is connected to through the Webway.'
Hao Xuan's brow creased suspiciously. It seemed a little too good to be true.
'It's that simple?'
'Well, yes and no. Once you enter the Webway you will have to navigate through the intricate network of tunnels and passages, each of which leads to a different plane with no telling what is in there.'
'Some of the worlds are in turn connected back to this one while most others will be connected to a host of new ones. It is far too complicated for me to explain right now but I can map the route and log the energy signature of this world so you should be able to find it again.'
Listening to so many ifs and buts, Hao Xuan could not help but get a bad feeling about all of it. Just one thought was enough to send alarm bells ringing throughout his conscious mind but at least for now, there was no other choice.
It was either that or just wait here to be eaten alive by the horde of monsters that would soon break through the door. At least this way there was a chance they would survive.
'Fine, I'll do it. Tell me the correct order,' he got up and walked up to the wall where Burak was already hovering.
"Are you okay human? Do not lose your courage so quickly, we will fight till the last man!" the Barbarian Prince gave a heavy pat to which he got a rueful smile in return.
"Remember your...words then...we will need...all the courage...you can...spare...."
