Chapter 362 - Sotir
10 minutes Earlier...
Hao Xuan stood under the inky sky, enjoying the wind and the drizzle of the cold rain while his severs attacked the pirates around him. The pirates tried their best to put up a fight but it was of no use.
The Scorpion King simply played with the gargoyle like it was a disposable toy, ripping apart its body parts one by one with a cruel smile on his somewhat human-like face.
Ensis, Monk, Black, White, and Bo (The Kappa) attacked the remaining pirates without holding anything back, clearing the entire runway within just a few minutes.
Only the gargoyle was left at the end as it let out painful screams. Still, the Scorpion King did not deliver the final blow and watched it suffer from the air, enjoying every second of it.
Matheo had already passed out long ago but his men were still watching the massacre from the sidelines with mouths agape.
It was over before they even got a hold of the situation so all they could do was watch. The gargoyle dragged its bloody body across the runway, towards the warehouse on the side.
Ensis frowned upon seeing the Scorpion king's behavior but there was nothing he could do. The Scorpion King was the strongest sever under Hao Xuan so he would not be able to force him to stop. He looked at Hao Xuan still standing there with closed eyes and approached him with the intention to ask him for help.
But before he could do so, the dying gargoyle reached the warehouse door and let out a weak howl, much like that of a dying dog.
The vicious grin on the Scorpion King's face widened even more as he floated above the gargoyle. His poisonous tail merrily swung left and right a couple of times before shooting towards the gargoyle's head. It was time to finish it off.
*Clang*
Alas, the result was not what he was expecting. His tail stopped a foot away from the gargoyles head. It was a hooded man that was responsible for it. He was literally holding the razor-sharp end of the Scorpion King's tail with his bare hand like it was completely normal.
It is to be remembered that although the Scorpion king's main abilities were not related to poison, he still had a deadly extract in his tail that was capable of dissolving anyone it came into contact with.
Yet the person in front of him didn't even flinch, or rather, the Scorpion King did not see when he even appeared between him and his prey.
His expression stiffened as he pulled back his tail from the hooded man's grasp and moved back upon noticing the several other figures walking out of the warehouse.
Their footsteps made no sound and even though everyone present could see them, they had no presence to speak off. It was like they were there but if the spectators took their eyes off of them for a second, they would forget about them completely.
The group of hooded figures consisted of about 16 people which judging from their builds looked like humans, albeit slightly taller. The hoods covered everything about them from their faces to their auras, not revealing even the slightest detail with the exception of one.
The leader of the group, who was a burly man had half his face revealed. Either he did not care or it was done on purpose, but a white stubble was clearly visible on his face along with a cut that went across his entire neck.
He turned to look at everyone on the runway, observing everyone present before looking at the gargoyle with disdain.
"You pathetic creatures. All you had to do was create some trouble and hold on for a few minutes, and you couldn't even accomplish that. What good are you?"
His voice was filled with utter contempt for the creature. He didn't even care about the hundreds of dead pirates.
The gargoyle raised its bruised head and spoke in a foreign language. The leader of the group was listened to what it had to say and burst out laughing.
"I paid YOU! Why should I lend you a hand instead? Stop wasting my time, Sotir!"
The first hooded man that had saved the gargoyle from the Scorpion King's attack faced the man and bowed from the waist. His name was apparently Sotir. He then turned around and thrust his bare arm into the gargoyle's head like a hot knife through butter, killing it on the spot.
The leader then looked towards Hao Xuan and Matheo's men.
"Finish them too. We don't want too many witnesses," he said with a wave of his hand.
"Yes, master!" Sotir replied with another bow. He then turned to face Hao Xuan's group as they were the biggest threat.
All the severs quickly surrounded Hao Xuan who was still standing there with his eyes closed.
Sotir twisted his left foot at a 90-degree angle and suddenly shot forward in a strange manner. He kept moving in and out of sight, appearing and disappearing, or so it seemed to others. But he was moving with such extreme speed that only Ensis and the Scorpion King were able to follow his movements.
He covered a distance of 200 meters within a blink of an eye and appeared right in front of the first of the severs, the Scorpion King.
