Chapter 813 - 813 "Senior Brother Is Safe"
813 “Senior Brother Is Safe”
When Elder Chen saw this, he couldn’t help but intervene.
“Oh, look how amazing the great Vice-President Tang is, blaming his subordinates for his own ineptitude. If you ask me, you’re the biggest trash of all.”
As he goaded Vice-President Tang, he used his spiritual energy to probe the surroundings and look for a way out of the men surrounding them.
He might not be able to rescue Zhang Yi in time, but at the very least, he had to protect Yao Tang.
His brain worked frantically as he devised a solution for their predicament.
There were three rows of people surrounding them, and each had about a dozen men. If he and Yao tang rushed against them with all his might, he could probably send the girl over to the Cabinet’s side.
Of course, Elder Chen was also counting on his comrades to act quickly and come to their aid.
He was still calculating the possibilities when Yao Tang’s mobile phone rang.
She lazily swiped to answer and brought it against his ear, as though she was just enjoying another day in the park instead of being trapped by a horde of enemies.
“How are things over there?” she asked causally.
Vice-President Tang was incensed.
He and his men could attack at any time. This girl should be trembling in fear! Instead, she was acting all nonchalant and not the least bit daunted by the Green Cloud Pavilion.
“Do you see that?” Vice-President Tang screamed at his bearded subordinate. “Your hostage still has the guts to answer her phone despite being surrounded, but you people can’t even manage one single phone call?!”
“I apologize, Sir. It’s all our fault.” The bearded man lowered his head to hide his ugly expression.
Still not satisfied, Vice-President Tang landed a kick on the man’s belly, sending him flying a couple of meters away.
It wasn’t until he heard the sharp sound of flesh hitting gravel that Vice-President Tang’s fury somewhat subsided.
“Get back here!” he roared at the fallen man.
The poor guy spat a mouthful of blood and wiped his mouth before scampering back to his master.
“Call them again! Keep calling until one of those bastards pick up!”
He didn’t think those useless idiots would dare to avoid his calls. If they kept this up, he would remove their names from the Green Cloud Pavilion’s roster.
The bearded man nodded frantically and pulled out his phone, his trembling fingers fumbling with the screen as he dialed the number again.
Just like before, the call was disconnected after just a few rings.
Elder Chen clicked his tongue and smirked.”Oh no, Vice-President Tang looks angry. You know, it’s not good to vent out your anger at your own people. Well, I suppose it’s better than you directing your anger at the Cabinet, hehe.”
As he spoke, Elder Chen got up from the stretcher and slowly approached Vice-President Tang.
All this time, his brain had never stopped working to secure a means of escape. If he captured Vice-President Tang and used him as a hostage, he and Yao Tang could walk freely back to the Cabinet.
But Vice-President Tang reacted quickly, taking a few steps back and assuming a defensive stance.
“It’s a pity that I’ve seen through your plan,” he scoffed. “You want to take me hostage, don’t you? Too bad, that not going to happen!”
His eyes flashed wildly, his senses tuned to maximum vigilance. He was ready to control his subordinates at any second, should the need arise. He didn’t care if these people died, as long as he could return in one piece.
“It seems that Elder Chen was so anxious to save his disciple that he forgot I also possess spiritual cultivation.” Vice-President Tang let out a cackle. “Unfortunately for you, I’m the one who has a hostage. I’m the one calling the shots here!”
As long as he had Zhang Yi, the people from the Cabinet would not do anything drastic.
The captive disciple practically guaranteed Vice-President Tang’s safety.
He just had to make sure that they didn’t find out where the Green Cloud Pavilion was keeping Zhang Yi.
At the thought of this, Vice-President Tang let out another round of laughter.
No one would be able to beat him. At the end of the day, he would still emerge as the victor.
Just then, Yao Tang ended her call and looked at Vice-President Tang. A faint trace of mockery glinted in her eyes.
Then, she looked at Elder Chen. “Let’s go back. Senior Brother is safe.”
What?
Elder Chen gaped at her in surprise. It was only then that he noticed the phone in her hand.
