The Ancestor of our Sect Isn’t Acting like an Elder

Chapter 125 - Jia Lan

Chapter 125 – Jia Lan

Two deep red beads appeared in front of her.

This red is different from Qi Qiqi’s, which is delicate and vivid like that of a blooming flower.

The red in front of her eyes…

It looks like a scarlet starry sky.

It’s thick and deep, yet unexpectedly clear.

Perhaps there is a world hidden in these eyes.

Attracted by them, Xue Qilin almost lost herself in these red eyes. The pupils wrapped in red appear to have a spiraling attractive force that pulls at her consciousness.

Don’t look! Her instincts sounded an alarm in her mind, prompting Xue Qilin to look away and take a few steps back.

Then she saw it.

A golden glow.

Like an ear of wheat dancing with the wind, shining waves swaying in the air replace the sun gradually vanishing behind the mountain and illuminate everything.

It is resplendent long gold hair.

“Hmm, did you know? I find it annoying when people are in a daze in front of me.”

Sounds seem have been suppressed for a long time. The voice is lingering and tender, and it sounds like a Bonsho [1] that reverberates during morning prayer.

Such contrast is contained in this petite body.

“Who are you?”

She blurted out this question.

Who is this petite lass? Xue Qilin couldn’t suppress the question in her heart. Perhaps the identity of the other party is not important, but she still is eager to learn it.

“Hmm?”

The lass smiled apologetically. The expression on the face is carved out just right, demonstrating an elegance that does not match her appearance.

“Please forgive me for being negligent.”

There lass’s face blossomed into a smile, a radiant smile.

If this radiance were water, then it would have already cascaded down out from her smile.

“My name is Jia Lan. Jia (珈) as in the character formed from the characters Wang (王) and Jia (加), Lan (蓝) as in the character for the color blue. But others usually call me…”

The lass named Jia Lan radiates light.

“‘Asura’er’”

However, this light is not soft and gentle.

It is an intense, burning, frightening light – a kind of destructive radiance that can melt everything and violently crush everything. Together with the majestic aura, they almost submerged and drowned Xue Qilin.

Xue Qilin knows where this breathless feeling comes from.

Grandmaster.

A word flashed in Xue Qilin’s mind.

The lass named Jia Lan is wearing a strange black Kasaya [2] that looks both like a dress and a robe – Xue Qilin isn’t sure if it is a Kasaya, but the gold embroidery on it is very similar to that of a Kasaya. She looks only 11 or 12 years old, has elegant and cute features. Her fair cheeks are rosy. Unlike a typical Asian, her features aren’t as soft, but appear a bit more prominent. She should be of mixed blood, Asian and Caucasian blood. She looks like a lovable doll.

Really? Is she really a Grandmaster?

Looking at the lass who is a little shorter than herself, Xue Qilin can’t help but doubt her guess.

Even though martial practitioners will recover their youth to some degree after they have reached a certain realm – which is also her case, but it is difficult for her to connect the lass in front of her with the word Grandmaster. What’s more, the only Grandmaster she had seen – Beiming Youyu, was not this young.

The Grandmaster lass in front of her gives Xue Qilin a strong sense of incongruity, as if the sun and the moon are adjacent to one another in the sky.

“Can you teach me the ‘fairy art’ just now?”

The bright yellow eyes reflect the gold brilliance of Jia Lan.

The lass corrected her bearing.

Yet Xue Qilin feels like a bug has climbed onto her back.

Is it an instinctive fear, or is it something deeper?

Um, in the abyss of the lass’s eyes, there seems… there seems to be something. Something scary.

What exactly is it?

“Hey, I already said…”

Jia Lan retrieved her smile, and her face darkened.

The frosty expression froze the air and dissipated the sounds.

A Grandmaster is only one step away from the Heavens, every movement  of theirs involves the laws of the world.

“I find it annoying when people are it a daze in front of me. Mhm, it’s annoying.”

This is not an ordinary lass, but a fierce beast that consumes people.

What do I do? Xue Qilin glanced at Phecda who is within reach.

Phecda is afraid, and Puppy standing beside her is also afraid.

Shivering all over, cold sweat covering their faces – they seem to feel the overwhelming aura coming from Jia Lan as well.

There is only one exception…

“Wow, you’re so cute, Big Sister!”

Unexpectedly, it is the weakest person present who broke the heavy atmosphere.

Little Jade bypassed Xue Qilin and jumped in front of Jia Lan. She doesn’t seem to be afraid.

“Big Sister, you are called Jia Lan? Your hair is beautiful, is it real?”

“It is.”

Jia Lan smiled, and then the powerful oppression dissipated and the solidified air thawed.

This is a Grandmaster? While she let out a sigh of relief, Xue Qilin couldn’t help but marvel.

When she met Beiming Youyu before, she didn’t feel such a heavy pressure. The other party has probably specially suppressed her aura from leaking out.

In other words, this is the first time Xue Qilin has truly felt the aura emitted by a Grandmaster.

“I’m from the Western Regions. Blond hair is not uncommon there.”

Sure enough, she is not from Hua Dynasty.

But the Western Regions… Xue Qilin frowned. She once heard Qi Qiqi say that there is a Grandmaster in the Western Regions’ Vajrayana Buddhism school of thought.

Is it her?

“I heard that people in the Western Regions have hair of different colors, including red and green, is it really the case?”

Little Jade’s eyes sparkle with curiosity as if she saw something novel.

The Western Regions is a very distant legend for ordinary children living in remote parts of Hua Dynasty.

After all, they may never have the opportunity to leave the town where they were born and see people from the Western Regions.

“Mhm, it is.”

Jia Lan’s current amiable bearing seems to express “I’m just an ordinary girl, not a Grandmaster. Everything just now was fake.”.

“Really? Then are there horses with two mounds on their back in the Western Regions?”

“They’re called camels.”

Seeing a Grandmaster talk cheerfully with Little Jade, Xue Qilin feels incredulous.

Meanwhile…

“Hey, Qilin, let’s go…”

Phecda pulled Xue Qilin’s sleeve and uttered in a low voice.

Xue Qilin nodded back.

Don’t stay here any longer, leave! Her intuition bellowed. The faint hostility coming from Jia Lan just now left Xue Qilin with a lingering fear.

When a person’s strength reaches a certain degree, all kinds of restraints in the world will become weak and powerless. In this way, their actions will no longer follow common sense.

When confronted with such people, it is best to just avoid them.

Because no one knows when they will get angry, when they will be carried away by a whim, or when they will want to kill people.

“Little Phecda, let’s go.”

Just as Xue Qilin turned to leave…

“Hmm? Where are you going?”

That sentence made Xue Qilin freeze in her movement.

“Did I say you can leave?”

The voice that flowed out from between the lush lips is still sweet – it’s so sweet it’s creepy.
