Chapter 186 - More battles (8)

Chapter 186: More battles (8)

The wind blew through the battlefield. The horses neighed uncomfortably and a loud voice was heard.

“LISTEN! We must take their castle if we want to survive!”

A man with lavishly decorated clothes shouted to his knights. His red cape fluttered through the wind as he shouted. Then, a fully armored knight walked up.

“I will take the lead! I will bring you the glory and honor of victory, milord!”

The man glanced at him and asked, “Who are you!”

“I am Aslant, Son of Hereth. I am here from the province of Narsath.”

Some became quiet as no one seemed to recognize who he was. Some frowned as they realized they missed a chance to appeal to Marquis Baytel, the commander of this war.

‘Who is he to walk out like that?’

‘Insolent brat!’

People looked at him enviously, but the knight only looked at the marquis on the stage. He looked down at the knight carefully.

‘I see. Hereth, the knight with the lance from Narsath!’

He remembered a young knight charging into the battlefield with a lance. Everyone thought he was crazy as they were largely outnumbered. It was a few hundred against thousands. But the unexpected had occurred. The knight rained hell on the battlefield, cutting down all in his path, killing hundreds. All enemy knights ran at him, only to be killed instantly. It was his work that brought them victory.

‘He’s the son!’

He remembered the lance and the armor. He remembered Hereth refusing to serve him back in the day.

‘To think I will meet his son during such times!’

“You are the son of Hereth!”

“Yes, milord.”

“Did you take up that lance in place of your father?”

“Yes, milord.”

The marquis smiled.

“How old are you?”

“I am twenty-three years old, milord.”

“Good. Take the lead! Do as your father did! I will grant you my youngest daughter if you succeed!”

“WHAT!”

“NO!”

Knights around them shouted in shock. Yet Marquis Baytel didn’t seem to care about the others.

‘He’s the treasure! I must pick it up before others do!’

If he had learned his father’s skills, he was more than worthy.

‘If he brings us victory… he will become a new hero. It will calm the people down.’

The marquis’ mind raced with thoughts. Dentrion Kingdom was in bad shape. They were barely managing people from revolting, but it was matter of when. The nobles began taking chances to throw down the royal families also. It was inevitable for the king to choose to fight a war to deviate the attention.

‘The gods have not abandoned us, the Dentrion Kingdom!’

He thought to himself and said, “I remember your father well. He was a brave knight! I remember his battle prowess. Are you sure you will live up to his name? To his skills? Are you ready to fight for honor and Dentrion?”

“With my life, milord!”

“Good. Take the lead! How many men do you require?” Baytel asked. He had asked the question, but he was expecting a different answer. Aslant shook his head.

“I can handle those Katzback savages alone. I will open the way. Heeya!”

Aslant then quickly moved out on his horse onto the battleground. Then, some of the shocked knights began following him on horseback. Pretty soon, Aslant was accompanied by tens of knights. Baytel looked astonished.

‘He’s good. He just made those who were jealous of him to fight with him!’

“What are you doing? Are you going to hide behind the young ones?”

The marquis shouted to other knights who were hesitant about charging out. Then it was the army that began charging into the battlefield. Screams of pain could be heard from the warfront and Baytel turned to look. It was Aslant, moving through the battlefield, killing everyone in his path just like his father did in the past.

The Katzback warriors were just readying themselves to kill the foolish knight charging in alone. They were thinking of killing him at once and killing more of the knights at the back. But when the knight closed in, they were dead before they knew what happened. The lance was swung, killing all men near it instantly.

The Katzback warriors began falling and their defense lines were destroyed. Their commanders shouted to form another line, but it was too late. As Baytel watched the battlefield with binoculars that he purchased with a hefty price from the merchant from Khalodian, he shouted for his men to advance.
