Chapter 837 - The Six Kings of the Secluded Springs
Chapter 837: The Six Kings of the Secluded Springs
‘Ha! I’ve finally seen someone alive!’ Xia Fei spoke to himself, feeling elated.
Others would feel fearful when they saw enemies, but Xia Fei was the opposite. He went sprinting forward right away. Like a cat that had found a rat, his eyes glimmered with hunger!
“Peacock Blue, Furball!”
*Kaboom*
Speed was critical in battle! Xia Fei did not hesitate in the least bit and fought with all his might!
His eyes quickly scanned through these Secluded warriors, identifying a target whom he deemed could easily be overwhelmed psychologically before killing the rest!
A speed that went well over four hundred thousand meters per second! Unleashing his many weapons with no reservation! Xia Fei’s combat strength would surely allow him to insta-kill every enemy at his level! He would not even be afraid to face a Law Overlord!
The highest cultivation of this group only reached the Law Emperor, so of course they had no way of resisting Xia Fei’s violent assault!
Peacock Blue coiled up five enemies at the same time and tore them into shreds with a powerful squeeze!
Furball was like a fatal beam that flew past, quickly penetrating through the enemies’ chests!
Meanwhile, the Blood Crystal was like a butterfly dancing from flower to flower, sucking flesh and bones dry wherever the dark red dagger went.
A single second!
Xia Fei used one second to lay waste on all these enemies, including the Demon Chrysalis that they were riding on!
This was the power of a high speed warrior!
No doubt high speed warriors were naturally talented in ending battles fast. This was especially so when facing enemies weaker than themselves, for the advantage that they had would grow exponentially. After all, lightning-like reflexes and reaction time were needed to fend off high speed warriors. While warriors who were of sufficiently high level may be able to rely on their superfast reaction to make up for their disadvantage in speed, those who had lower levels could only wait for their eventual deaths, not even having the chance to retaliate whatsoever!
Mass murder in a second!
This was essentially the time it took for someone to blink their eyes, and the next instant, what was left of this group of Secluded warriors was a lone figure as well as his mount.
Peacock Blue, Furball, and the Blood Crystal all surrounded this lone warrior. He blinked several times, his jaws nearly dropping to the ground, but still could not make sense of just how his comrades had been killed so fast.
“Don’t kill me! I’ll tell you anything!” Before Xia Fei could even begin his interrogation, the man had already broken down into tears and wailed, shivering terribly as he begged for his life.
*Bonk*
Xia Fei sent a kick his way to dismount him; a painful blow caused the man to whimper, but he did not dare to cry out loud.
At the same time, Xia Fei put Furball back in his bosom. This pet of his, who hated Demon Chrysalises a lot, had been eyeballing this one before them now. Xia Fei was afraid that Furball would scare this Demon Chrysalis to death again, something that had happened many times before. After all, the aura of Furball, this Holy Beast, was anything but normal.
Peacock Blue used two of its grass blades to grab hold of that warrior and the Demon Chrysalis. The mount looked stupefied, dazedly staying in place, while the warrior kowtowed repeatedly.
Oro was temporarily speechless. “The Secluded Clan is said to be full of desperadoes. How would there be such a cowardly clan member? Just how did you find someone like this?”
Xia Fei breezily explained, “It’s actually very easy. This person was walking in the very middle of the troops, and his gaze kept darting about. The front is usually in the most dangerous spot, easily receiving attacks first, while the rear isn’t safe, either, since that’s where enemies launch their ambush.
“This person chose to position himself right in the middle and was constantly furtively shifting his eyes everywhere. This means that not only is he cowardly, he is at least somewhat clever, knowing where it will be the safest to hide. He’s exactly the kind of person that I’m looking for.”
Oro nodded repeatedly. Though Xia Fei was not too old, he had a good grasp of a person’s heart; his observation skills were exceptional as well. Given that he had found the most cowardly among the bunch in a short timeframe, it just demonstrated how insightful he was.
*Thump*
Xia Fei stomped the skinny warrior’s chest, asking with an icy gaze, “Do you know who’s Secluded Well?”
…
Xia Fei’s judgment was very accurate. This skinny warrior had been scared sh*tl*ss after seeing him in action, so the moment the warrior heard that Xia Fei was looking for the clairvoyant Secluded Well, he immediately slapped his chest and offered to lead the way. In fact, not only did he lead the way, he even told him all the information he knew, answering anything Xia Fei asked. He was very agreeable.
As such, Xia Fei saved plenty of time. Of course, Xia Fei would also have his ways of making someone stubborn talk, but Xia Fei preferred someone more spineless like this warrior, since it saved him the trouble of having to grill him at all.
“So this is the function of a Demon Chrysalis. Even in the Secluded Springs, it is also relied upon to lead the way.” Xia Fei sighed.
There was no sense of direction in the Dark Space, and anyone would easily get lost. Meanwhile, domesticated Demon Chrysalises were like old horses that knew the way, capable of guiding people to wherever they needed to go.
Outside of Secluded Springs, those gigantic Demon Chrysalises served as the Secluded people’s warships, relying on them with a majority of troop movement. Meanwhile, the smaller Demon Chrysalises could be used as mounts inside the Secluded Springs. Having a trained Demon Chrysalis was very important to the people living inside this Dark Space.
Xia Fei suddenly recalled that little Demon Chrysalis he had picked up; he wondered if it was still alive.
Taking it out for a look, he saw that the little creature was still struggling on the precipice of life and death. It had been severely injured, and the medicine Xia Fei applied on it had merely prolonged its life rather than heal it.
“Just toss that little thing away. It looks like it’s about to die,” Oro said, unimpressed.
Xia Fei ignored him and dripped the medicine on its body once more. This time, the potency of this medicine was many times stronger than the one he had used before.
After he was done, Xia Fei stored the one-eyed Demon Chrysalis back in his bosom and continued walking forward.
That was right. He walked.
The Demon Chrysalis, which had been leading the way, had slinked off speedily. However, because Xia Fei was a speedster, the rapid pace of the creature was no more than a strolling pace to Xia Fei. Here in the Secluded Springs, where a Demon Chrysalis was necessary to lead the way, Xia Fei had no choice but to match the pace of the creature.
In front of him was a fork, with three separate roads heading in three different directions.
The Demon Chrysalis suddenly came to a halt upon reaching this point, no longer advancing.
“What’s the matter with it?” Xia Fei asked with knitted eyebrows.
That skinny Secluded warrior honestly answered in fear, “It can’t go any further. These three roads are all wrong, so it’s waiting for a new road to appear.”
“A new road?” asked Xia Fei menacingly, arching his eyebrow.
The warrior sweated profusely in his anxiety, explaining hurriedly with animated hand gestures. Apparently, these roads would shift after some time. It was not a pathway anyone could pass through whenever they wanted. The Secluded relied on this maze-like characteristic, which allowed them to survive in the Law Realm where danger lurked everywhere.
Xia Fei lit a cigarette. Although he was in a rush to meet the clairvoyant Secluded Well, the Secluded Springs’ unique terrain made it so that Xia Fei had no way of continuing forward, so all he could do was be patient even though he was reluctant.
“Then let me ask you: How many experts are there in the Secluded Springs right now?” Xia Fei asked as he blew out a smoke ring.
“There are a total of six kings in the Secluded Springs; they’re the so-called four Overlords, one saint, and one clairvoyant. Lord Secluded Well, whom you’re looking for, is one of the six kings.”
“Four Overlords and one saint?!” Xia Fei was somewhat taken aback upon hearing this. “Secluded Springs has a Law Sage?!”
“That’s right. Secluded Sophora and Secluded Tune are both Law Overlords guarding the entrance. There’s also Law Overlord Secluded Mess and Super Law Overlord Secluded Hunt. Law Sage Secludeless and clairvoyant Secluded Well make up the six kings of the Secluded Springs.”
The demon lord in the ring could not help but arch an eyebrow as he muttered to himself, “All these years… and a Law Sage has actually appeared in the Secluded Springs? This may be quite troublesome. You can still deal with a Law Overlord, but if it’s a Law Sage… Well, we’ll have to be more careful in going about our business now. Even if you can’t beat them with your speed, you should at least be able to keep yourself alive.”
Xia Fei nodded gravely. To most, anyone who reached Super Law Overlord would be absorbed into the two peak races, but because Secluded Springs belonged to neither race, none of their experts qualified to join either of the two peak races, and so they could only remain here.
Cultivation was not just a matter of talent and hard work but also energy!
It was very hard to imagine that the impoverished Secluded Springs would have someone that had managed to cross the Law Sage’s heavenly threshold!
Xia Fei asked a few more questions; it turned out that the six kings were already aware of Xia Fei’s intrusion, but none considered him to be a threat and had merely sent out small teams to search for him. This was an advantage to Xia Fei, as though he was not a Law Overlord, his actual combat strength was not any worse than a Law Overlord!
As long as Xia Fei could end fights quickly, he would be able to approach Secluded Well without much of a fuss and leave without kicking up much of a stir, either. Though Secludeless was a Law Sage, he still had no way of stopping Xia Fei, given his superior speed and his almost inexplicable Crafty Approach.
This was when a huge thunderclap resounded. He saw the three roads forward turning counterclockwise as if they were on a dial, with the rightmost road sinking into the ground and a new road appearing on the left side. Everything made for a magical sight.
The Demon Chrysalis made a little chittering, indicating that it would continue on its way. As such, Xia Fei had readied himself to move once more. His destination was the Clairvoyant Secluded Well. Knowing that there was a Law Sage hiding in the Secluded Springs, Xia Fei understood that the risk he was taking this time was not low.
…
About a dozen or so hours later, Xia Fei finally arrived at the residence of Clairvoyant Secluded Well, one of the six kings of the Secluded Springs.
Along the way, Xia Fei did not forget to take care of that little Demon Chrysalis he had picked up. He would administer it medicine every hour. It was just too bad that the creature’s injuries had yet to take a turn for the better and it could die at any moment.
A treehouse stood in front of him, a wooden platform built high on the treetops. This platform was fenced with a small wooden house, no different from what a child would play in. It hardly looked like the residence of a significant figure.
“This is Clairvoyant Secluded Well’s home?” Xia Fei asked, skeptical.
That skinny warrior quickly nodded. “That’s right! The lord lives here.”
Just as he said this, Xia Fei saw an old man with a height of one meter stepping out from this treehouse. His snowy-white, long hair reached the floorboards. He had white beard as well and rosy cheeks. He looked to be in great spirits.
Xia Fei did not expect that the clairvoyant he had been searching for was actually a dwarf!
He saw Secluded Well stretching his back and lifting his foot to kick at something on the platform.
*Bam*
A rattan ladder made from green vines tumbled down, allowing anyone to climb up to the treehouse.
After doing this, Secluded Well suddenly let out a self-deprecating laugh as he raised a hand to pat his head. “I forgot! You’re an expert, so there’s no need for a ladder.”
Xia Fei was stunned. It sounded as if Secluded Well had spoken those words to him!
He watched Secluded Well turn around and wave a hand over to the bush that Xia Fei was hiding behind. “Evildoer, since you’ve made your way here, why don’t you come up and meet me in my house?”
This was when the old demon lord suddenly burst into laughter and excitedly said, “That’s right! This old coot is no doubt Secluded Well! Let’s go! He already knows that we’re here.”
