Chapter 3383: The Gift
Chapter 3383: The Gift
Far away, Skydog let out a howl of agony as he endured attacks from Hongyan Mavis and Garan Zhiluo while trying to protect Forgotten Ruins God and Wang Xiaoyu, who were standing behind him.
Verdant King protected Yan Gang as he was attacked by both Ce Wangtian and Lu Tianyi. The Verdant Sage was already wounded, and if he had not learned the Corpse King Transformation, he would have never been able to endure for so long.
Yan Gang was terrified. This battle was at a scale that far surpassed anything that he was qualified to participate in.
Sovereign Dou Sheng’s golden cudgel flailed in the distance as he tried to smash it down onto True God.
The cudgel was shattered by one of the Origin Progenitor's swords.
Sovereign Dou Sheng was puzzled. How could that have happened?
The Origin Progenitor's face fell. He still was not able to break free. True God had condensed his sequence particles, refining them into something similar to a sequence base. While it lacked the sheer quantity of sequence particles that the Spirit Nidus's sequence bases possessed, True God’s construct was still able to fully envelop his surroundings. This was a result of years of meticulous cultivation, and no one could easily overcome it.
Not even the Origin Progenitor could break away from all these sequence particles.
Lu Yin raised his hand, staring at his die. The gift that was Blackless God was finally about to be delivered.
Lu Yin had left Blackless God as a gift for True God. When Blackless God had pretended to betray Aeternus and join the Heavens Sect, Lu Yin had never suspected the Skygod. Blackless God had revealed information like the Megalith Poison, how to access the Mirari Realm, and he had even attacked Aeternus’s forces during a battle in the Scourge. He had been effective in helping the Heavens Sect.In the end, it turned out that Blackless God had been sent by True God to infiltrate the Heavens Sect. The Skygod had used his consciousness that was equal to the power of an Ortuser and had outwitted Lu Yin.
If not for Progenitor Hui, the Heavens Sect would have completely fallen for his trap.
True God had succeeded in destroying the original Heavens Sect due to his supreme intelligence.
However, there was one person who was even smarter than him: Progenitor Hui.
Yong Heng might be able to outwit everyone else, but he was never able to deceive Progenitor Hui, who had left too many contingencies in place.
Lu Yin had also left a contingency for True God via Blackless God.
This contingency was Megalith Poison.
While Megalith Poison was referred to as a poison, it was really nothing more than the Megalith’s saliva.
When Blackless God had first met Lu Yin and Lu Yuan in the universe where the Megalith had been sleeping, Lu Yin had learned that Blackless God had been gathering Megalith Poison for Aeternus.
Megalith Poison was very peculiar, as it was not a poison concocted by intelligent beings, but rather more of a distillation of the Megalith’s power. It was able to devour a being’s energy. Ṛá₦𝘰𝐁Ɛŝ
Because Blackless God had been in contact with Megalith Poison for years, he had unknowingly become tainted by its power. Though faint, it was similar to the grains of Ethersand that had clung to the man and merged with his body.
After Lu Yin subdued the Megalith, he had made it a point to study Megalith Poison and had discovered that it was a type of power. As he became tainted by it, he had pulled it into his body. Once, he had tried rolling his die with Megalith Poison, and he had seen more than one ball of light in the mysterious dark space. One had belonged to the Megalith itself, and it had been large and bright. But who could the other belong to? Could it be another Megalith? No, the Megalith was the only one of its species, so there could not be any others.
The only explanation was that the orb of light represented a creature that had been contaminated by Megalith Poison.
One of the balls of light had undoubtedly belonged to Blackless God, as it was nearly as bright as the orb that represented the Megalith itself.
At the time, because Blackless God had joined the Heavens Sect, Lu Yin had not wanted to invade the man’s privacy, as doing so was simply despicable. For that reason, Lu Yin had refrained from Possessing the Skygod. However, he had used Possession twice with Megalith Poison, and by determining Blackless God’s position, Lu Yin had succeeded in confirming that one of the bright balls of light was indeed Blackless God.
If Blackless God had truly betrayed Aeternus and genuinely joined the Heavens Sect, Lu Yin would have never used this contingency. This was no different from how he had stopped using Possession while in the Origin Universe.
Lu Yin would never be able to accept someone else Possessing his body, and he would not do so to his friends and allies. To do so would be to betray his own morals.
However, since Blackless God was an enemy, Lu Yin had naturally left a contingency behind for True God.
After discovering that Blackless God was loyal to True God, Lu Yin had wanted to Possess the man, but he had been afraid of being discovered by True God.
True God had left a seal in Ancient God’s body, so it was not impossible for him to have left one in Blackless God’s body as well. Lu Yin did not know why Blackless God was so loyal to True God, but he felt that there was a very strong possibility that a seal had been left within him, just like Ancient God.
Lu Yin’s contingency could only be used once.
If Wilderness God had not happened to mention Stillstorm, Lu Yin would have already tried to Possess Blackless God, as there seemed to be no other way to find True God.
The die slowly stopped spinning.
As the Origin Progenitor and the others all attacked True God, Lu Yin also made his move, rolling his die without allowing True God to notice anything.
True God completely ignored the Origin Progenitor’s attacks, as well as the others, and he even protected Blackless God behind him.
The die stopped spinning: one pip: Pilfer. Again. Three pips: Enhance. Again. Six pips: Possession.
Lu Yin’s eyes went wide as his consciousness appeared in the dark space, and he immediately saw a bright ball of light. There was no hesitation, and he shot forward.
This was also why the Megalith had not been brought along; Lu Yin did not want to waste any time determining which of the balls of light was the correct target.
His consciousness merged with the orb of light, and his vision spun as his perspective changed. His perspective was completely different from before, as True God was right in front of him.
"Blackless God" let out a sigh of relief. Possession had worked. While he had thought that there was a 90% chance of success, actually succeeding was indescribably exhilarating.
There was indeed a seal, just like within Ancient God, which proved Lu Yin’s suspicions correct.
If he had been slightly further away from True God while performing Possession, the seal would have detected Lu Yin’s actions, rendering the attempt useless. However, Lu Yin had acted while very close to True God, and Blackless God was mere inches from the man.
Lu Yin had already learned True God’s Natural Art, so at this moment, he was able to control it through Blackless God’s body, and the technique flowed with unprecedented ease.
Memories flooded his mind as a nearby lantern had the name on it change from Wu Tian to Yong Heng.
"Blackless God" attacked True God with a palm strike, and True God, being completely unprepared, was struck in the back.
The man had never anticipated an attack from Blackless God, and before Yong Heng could react, he was struck. Shock appeared on his face as he looked back. By then, the seal that he had placed in Blackless God’s body had already triggered, but it was too late. Lu Yin had taken less than a second to attack after initiating the Possession.
At the same time that the attack landed, lanterns also shattered. True God spat out a mouthful of blood, and the sequence particles that filled the area grew unstable.
"This is the gift that I prepared for you," Lu Yin said.
He seized the moment, and his consciousness returned to his own body, at which point Lu Yin unleashed his inner universe and pushed everything away from himself.
The sequence particles that surrounded True God were pushed away.
The man’s head snapped around, and he stared at Lu Yin, frustration marring his features. "Your mirebound artifact!"
In front of him, the Origin Progenitor’s sword pierced the Six Paths of Reincarnation Realm, as well as True God’s body, drawing blood as the man was impaled.
Even Blackless God was struck by one of the Origin Progenitor’s swords, and he was sent flying backward.
Blackless God could not make any sense of the situation until he heard True God mention Lu Yin’s mirebound artifact. At that moment, Blackless God understood exactly what had happened: he had been Possessed by Lu Yin.
There had been a time when all of Aeternus had taken precautions against Lu Yin’s ability to control others, and all of their top powerhouses had been required to face each other and remain immobile.
However, years later, in the middle of battle, Blackless God had still fallen victim to Lu Yin.
But how had it happened? Lu Yin was only able to control other Aeternals because they had cultivated divine energy, but Blackless God had dispelled that energy, all to avoid being controlled. He had indeed learned True God’s Natural Art, which required divine energy, but that divine energy had not come from Blackless God himself, but rather the seed of Eternal Decree. Blackless God had not cultivated the energy himself. How had he still ended up being controlled?
As the years passed, details regarding Lu Yin’s mirebound artifact had become known to countless people, and due to speculations about how certain abilities could be triggered, Blackless God had been very cautious. After pretending to betray Aeternus and join the Heavens Sect, he had dispelled his divine energy to avoid ever being controlled by Lu Yin.
True God had been even more cautious, and he had placed a seal within Blackless God’s body.
That seal was powerful enough that it enabled True God to detect if Blackless God had been Possessed by someone within three seconds.
However, in the heat of battle, in order to protect Blackless God, True God had allowed the man to get extremely close. He had forgotten about Lu Yin’s mirebound artifact, and that had allowed Lu Yin to successfully ambush Yong Heng.
The truth was that no one had expected Lu Yin to be able to Possess Blackless God. Neither Blackless God nor True God had ever considered Megalith Poison to be a power that could be cultivated. True God had made the mistake of allowing Blackless God to gather Megalith Poison for years, while Lu Yin had just happened to subdue the Megalith and learned the truth of the beast’s power.
If not for this coincidence, even if Blackless God had kept his divine energy, Lu Yin would not have been able to locate the Skygod so easily, given that there were many other powerhouses who also possessed divine energy.
True God’s carelessness had only lasted for a single instance, but due to all the coincidences, the plans had fallen perfectly into place, and True God’s defenses had been shattered in a single moment.
The Origin Progenitor seized the opportunity and swung his sword at True God. After the sequence particles were repelled once, they were no longer as stable as before. In addition, Yong Heng’s severe injuries prevented him from withstanding the Origin Progenitor’s assault.
Lu Yin was about to attack True God as well, but he suddenly noticed that Blackless God was attempting to flee.
Lu Yin would never allow either True God or Blackless God to escape.
A golden light appeared up above as the Investiture of the Gods appeared. Hongyan Mavis, Wu Tian, and the other summoned gods all stepped out, each of them pursuing Blackless God. As for Lu Yin himself, he fought against True God, using Verdant Eternity as his inner universe spread out and the light of Infinity surrounded him. Lu Yin’s strength reached the biological limits of the megaverse.
True God’s eyes suddenly changed, and the pupils simply vanished as he used the Corpse King Transformation.
Lanterns appeared around him as he simultaneously used his Natural Art.
Despite being restrained and limited by the Six Paths of Reincarnation Realm and unable to attack, True God erupted with all his power, instantly breaking free from the Six Paths of Reincarnation Realm as he tried to protect himself. However, the cost he paid for doing so was devastating.
Four of the Origin Progenitor’s swords slashed across Yong Heng’s body. A swipe of his right hand deflected three of the swords, and he grabbed hold of the fourth one’s blade, slicing his palm open. With his left hand, True God blocked Lu Yin’s attack. There was a deafening collision, but True God did not move.
Lu Yin’s eyes flickered. While True God had successfully blocked both the Origin Progenitor and Lu Yin’s attacks, Lu Yin finally saw a glimmer of hope of actually killing True God.
In the past, True God had always remained calm and confident, believing that his sequence particles were enough for him to ignore all attacks. However, he had started using his own battle techniques, which was a qualitative difference.
The Origin Progenitor clenched the hilt of his sword tightly as a cold light reflected off of the blade. Primaldust circled around the sword before settling onto the blade. True God’s hand was torn open as the sword sliced forward and cut his body open.
"Yong Heng." the Origin Progenitor’s voice was ice cold. "Do you truly believe yourself incapable of achieving Immortality without resetting the Tianyuan Megaverse? Is that really your reasoning?"
Blood leaked from True God’s lips as they curled upwards. He stared at the Origin Progenitor, who was within reach, yet still untouchable. "I am not like you. You are human, while I am not.
"Humans possess infinite possibilities, and that is the exact possibility that we have always longed for.
"Don’t you know? I am a failed product."
The three other swords at the Origin Progenitor’s side suddenly sliced at True God.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
All three of the blades failed to cut open True God’s body.
Lu Yin stepped forward and grabbed one of the swords. His strength erupted, and the void shattered as ripples spread out an endless distance away from the battlefield as the sword thrust True God’s neck. Blood trickled down the blade.
"Is what you're doing now truly of your own will?" Lu Yin questioned once more, his gaze piercing.
