Chapter 85 - One of the Sure-Kill Skills
Chapter 85: One of the Sure-Kill Skills
“Being able to make the princess become obedient is a good thing,” agreed the first guard as he nodded his head in commendation. “This Ling Chuxi also has some courage.”
“Indeed. I had long hoped for someone to teach the princess a lesson. Oh, no, no, more like someone to guide the princess. She’s always hanging around that group of unlearned, incapable dandies. How could she possibly learn anything worthwhile?” said the second guard in gratification. Halfway through his sentence, he realized wasn’t using the right words and so immediately changed them.
When the two secret guards saw Ling Chuxi take action to hit the fifth princess, they had hesitated for a moment to decide if they should retaliate. However, they saw that Ling Chuxi didn’t do anything to actually hurt the fifth princess, and so they remained hidden. After that, as they kept watch over the princess, they observed Ling Chuxi handling her to an obedient state and felt this was too good. The whole world had suddenly become a beautiful place.
“I believe the emperor and Concubine Li will be very happy when they find out about this. Hey, someone is coming over, let’s get out of the way.” Once the two secret guards were done discussing the current state of the princess in low tones, they hid themselves away again to continue keeping watch over her.
The discussion between the two secret guards was not overheard by anyone in Ling Chuxi’s group. Furthermore, none of them even noticed the presence of the two guards. From this, one could tell how high the levels of cultivation possessed by the two guards were. Thinking further about it, there’s no way that secret guards sent by the emperor to protect the princess could possess weak cultivation levels, could they?
Lan Xinyu was about to catch up with Ling Chuxi, Ling Yichen and the fifth princess when she shouted from not far behind them, “Hey, Ling Chuxi! Stop right there!”
“Oh? Who’s calling me?” wondered Ling Chuxi aloud when she thought she heard someone calling out her name from somewhere in the distance behind her. The voice calling out her name was somehow familiar. She turned around languidly and saw Lan Xinyu’s face that was darkened with anger coming towards her.
“Ling Chuxi!” snarled Lan Xinyu as her hand reached for the golden whip by her waist. She glared at Ling Chuxi angrily.
“What now?” said Ling Chuxi in a tired tone. “Who’s that? Oh. Lan Xinyu. The peerless genius fellow student. How can I help you?”
Ling Chuxi uttered these words in a languid tone, but to Lan Xinyu, they sounded as though they were dripping with sarcasm. Lan Xinyu read the hidden meaning of Ling Chuxi’s words as, ‘Aren’t you the peerless genius or something? Then why didn’t Mu Liufeng choose you as his disciple instead of me?’ Of course, this was Lan Xinyu’s own brain making up its own connections and assumptions that Ling Chuxi intended to provoke her. In reality, it was indeed so. This was one of Ling Chuxi’s sure-kill skills—a venomous tongue that could anger people to death without compensating with her life!
“Ling Chuxi, are you being proud right now? Do you think that Teacher Mu accepting you as a disciple makes you all that?” spat Lan Xinyu bitterly as her hand tightened around the handle of the golden whip by her waist.
“I’m not showing off. Fellow student, Lan Xinyu, don’t you know that I did not actually even want to acknowledge Mu Liufeng as my master—Ah, I did not actually even want to acknowledge Teacher Mu as my master. It was he who forcefully made me his disciple. If you don’t believe me, you can go and ask him,” drawled Ling Chuxi lazily. It was obvious that Ling Chuxi intended to drive the knife in further with her answer. Lan Xinyu’s little heart was crushed into pieces. Once Ling Chuxi’s venomous tongue skills were activated, the killing power it possessed was extraordinarily amazing!
Teacher Mu forcefully made Ling Chuxi his disciple? How was this even possible? Lan Xinyu looked at Ling Chuxi in disbelief. Jealousy, envy and anger rose in her heart. However, seeing Ling Chuxi’s calm and indifferent attitude as she said this made Lan Xinyu understand in the depths of her heart that Ling Chuxi was not lying! This made it even harder for her to accept this outcome.
“Ling Chuxi, I challenge you to a duel!” Lan Xinyu could not help but pull out her glorious golden whip and lashing it through the air with a loud crack.
“Oh? Sure…” agreed Ling Chuxi with a slight smile and eyes that exuded confidence. Her hand gently landed on the Luo Chen sword hanging by her waist.
