Chapter 409 - Palace Change II
Chapter 409: Palace Change II
“I was really unable to tell that Fifth Princess was actually so affectionate. Since you are unable to forget your master, then let me allow you to accompany her,” said the first prince sarcastically. Then, he barked an order to one of the black-armored warriors, “Attack!”
The warrior unsheathed his sword with a quick swish and was about to slash down against the fifth princess’ neck.
‘No, it’s impossible. Master will definitely be fine.’ The fifth princess was lost in her thoughts and her face was streaked with tears. She shook her head sadly without reacting to the attack directed her way at all.
“Stop!” Seeing that the fifth princess was about to perish, Fu Chengyu shouted and slowly took two steps forward. “If he dares move anywhere near her, I will kill you right here on the spot myself!” threatened Fu Chengyu as an oppressive Battle Qi laced with murderous intent emitted from him. The warrior in black armor could not help but stop.
“Fu Chengyu, I have tolerated you for many years because you’re supposedly the number one expert amongst all the princes of Nan Xia Country, right? This is just as well. Since you want to die so much, I shall fulfil your desire too.” The first prince glared at Fu Chengyu spitefully before giving instructive glances to the people around him. Of all of the people present, aside from the emperor, Fu Chengyu was the only person here that was his taboo. The might Fu Chengyu displayed the last time had deterred the first prince and made him tremble with fear.
A few people stepped in front of Fu Chengyu to cut him off. Then, each of them began emitting Battle Qi filled with tyrannical energy.
Level 9 Pinnacle stage. All of them were actually at Level 9 Pinnacle stage. Terror crept upon the faces of those standing by the emperor’s side with their bodies bathed in blood. If these people the first prince had just sent forth had attacked first earlier, it would have been practically impossible for them to have held up until now. Their hearts sank, but their gazes remained as determined as before.
“It’s no wonder you dare usurp the throne like this. As it turns out, you have invited over such strong assistance. If I am not mistaken, these people are from Ding Lin Country’s Wu Feng Hall, am I right?” said the emperor as he lightly waved towards Fu Chengyu, signaling to him to retreat.
“That’s right, Imperial Father. Even our sovereign state is on my side. So, it is better for you to just enact an edict declaring me the emperor and they will be happy too,” declared the first prince presumptuously without a care. He had showed his final ace and there was nothing more to hide.
“Originally, I had still intended to leave you with a way out. But from the look of things, it is no longer possible to do so,” announced the emperor as he suddenly stood.
Although he was heavily surrounded and there were countless sharp arrows aimed at him, the emperor still maintained a majestic and domineering king-like aura about him. He remained a magnificent figure who made others unable to look directly at him.
“What are you talking about?” asked the first prince, suddenly feeling a sense of unease in his heart. Why was it that even in such a situation whereby he was in danger, the emperor could still remain so calm and mighty without his majestic aura diminishing? The first prince almost habitually knelt to the ground just then.
“What conditions did you offer Ding Lin Country for them to help you usurp the throne?” questioned the emperor solemnly and majestically.
Seeing the emperor’s icy cold gaze, the first prince’s heart filled with guilt and he was unable to say a word.
“Twice Nan Xia Country’s highest tribute for the next three hundred years, was it?” asked the emperor coldly as fury ignited in his eyes.
“You… How could you possibly know?” replied the first prince with a trembling voice as the unease in his heart grew stronger.
This sentence was clearly an admission to what the emperor just said. Even the black-armored warriors who had joined the first prince in this rebellion wore looks of surprise on their faces. They were citizens of Nan Xia Country after all. Even if they were rebelling, they were still citizens of Nan Xia Country. In the depths of their hearts, they felt the shame of such humiliating conditions for their country.
“Selling out the country for the sake of your own glory, rebelling to usurp the throne in such a manner… Your sins are unforgivable!” roared the emperor angrily as he slammed his hand on the Dragon Throne heavily. The anger radiating from his entire body left everyone feeling frightened.
“Fine then. After killing you, I will be the emperor of Nan Xia Country. And nobody would dare judge me as guilty!” screamed the first prince in response. He was shocked and frightened. Abandoning all care about the outcome of an edict, the first prince’s heart turned ruthless and he issued an order to the cultivators from Wu Feng Hall with Level 9 Battle Qi, “Kill them all!”
