Chapter 294 - A Dangerous Situation
Chapter 294: A Dangerous Situation
Just as she launched an attack with her sword, the assassin sheathed theirs and retreated. With a light kick against the ground, the assassin leapt up and out the window, then ran towards the courtyard’s wall and disappeared over it at a speed that was as fast and as sudden as the attacks launched against Ling Chuxi earlier.
Truly a top-notch assassin. The moment Ling Chuxi displayed such strong cultivation, the assassin immediately knew that the task would not be successful and chose to retreat. With such a quick response, the judgement and decisiveness displayed left even Ling Chuxi sighing in admiration.
Admiration was admiration, but Ling Chuxi never thought of letting the assassin leave so easily. A full-fledged cultivator in the realm of Great Fulfilment was being forced into a dangerous situation by an assassin… Even she herself felt that this situation was a huge joke.
Her figure moved forward in a blur as Ling Chuxi chased after the assassin with her sword in her hand. In the dark of the night, its blade emitted an extremely dazzling light.
The sword pierced towards the assassin in an attack and the light from the sword resembled a burning flame as it emanated a shocking howl.
The assassin did not even turn around. With a backhand move, the assassin’s sword appeared against their back, letting Ling Chuxi’s Luo Chen sword strike the thin sword heavily. Under the tremendous power of Ling Chuxi’s attack, the assassin was pierced deeply in the back by the thin sword. However, unexpectedly, the assassin borrowed the might of Ling Chuxi’s attack, using it to propel forward at a faster speed in pursuit of escape despite being wounded.
“How ruthless,” gasped Ling Chuxi to herself. Seeing the blood spurting out of the assassin’s back, Ling Chuxi admired the assassin a little. This unbelievable counterattack was extremely accurate, it was as if the assassin could see backwards. Furthermore, such a move was also extremely ruthless. A ruthlessness that was not directed towards others, but to oneself.
Propelled by the might of Ling Chuxi’s attack, the assassin flew upwards like a meteor, and was about to disappear into the night when suddenly a muffled groan sounded, and the assassin’s body fell straight out of the sky and landed in front of Ling Chuxi with a loud thud. The assassin’s whole chest was sunken in from the strike of a blow, as if struck by a boulder. Even the assassin’s breastbone and internal organs were shattered.
What a strong attack! This was an assassin at Level 9 Pinnacle Stage who had a strong desire to live and had explosively used every bit of strength to do so. However, despite all these efforts, the night had ended in death by a single blow without the assassin even having a chance to block it.
Ling Chuxi looked ahead in surprise and wonder at the sturdy figure slowly approaching from the shadows.
“You?” blurted Ling Chuxi as she looked at the figure in front of her. She never thought that the person who killed the assassin would actually be Baili Han. Thinking of how scary his powerful attack was, Ling Chuxi once again tried to secretly estimate Baili Han’s abilities.
“You, didn’t get hurt, did you?” asked Baili Han with a frown as he cast a few observing glances at Ling Chuxi.
“No, I didn’t. Thank you. But, why did you help me?” replied Ling Chuxi, a little surprised by Baili Han’s appearance.
“I, want to fight you, fairly,” explained Baili Han simply.
So that was the reason why. Ling Chuxi got to know Baili Han a little better through this occurrence. Besides having extraordinary cultivation, this man who barely spoke also had righteous thoughts.
“All right. You’re fine, so I’m leaving,” said Baili Han, no longer worried as he walked off into the shadows.
“Wait. Do you know the way back?” asked Ling Chuxi. She suddenly thought of Baili Han being directionally challenged as she watched his figure about to disappear into the night and could not help but to ask.
“I should, should, remember, I think,” answered Baili Han somewhat unsurely as his body stiffened. Then, he quickly disappeared.
Ling Chuxi was suddenly a little worried, she didn’t know if she would see him at tomorrow’s match.
“Chuxi, are you all right?” At this moment, Ling Yichen and Fu Chengyu who had heard the odd sounds outside came rushing over. They were shocked to see a body crumpled on the ground. Observing the garments on the corpse and the thin, pitch-black sword by its side, the both of them managed to guess at the identity of the dead body.
“I’m fine. I wasn’t hurt,” said Ling Chuxi calmly.
“Senior Brother, can you investigate who sent the assassin?” Ling Yichen asked Fu Chengyu with a cold expression on his face. He was shocked and angry by this.
