Chapter 32: The Weaponry Hall

Once he entered the Dark Monastery, Lin Jie’s communication device was cut off automatically. The sound of his footsteps echoed in his ears.
“Boo hoo…”
“Boo hoo…”
Sobbing sounds were heard from all around him. The Dark Monastery had winding passageways, and one could get lost easily if they were distracted. Lin Jie tried to explore the place, recalling the memories of this place he had from his past life.
In Lin Jie’s previous life, there had been nothing left in this place when he had come to explore. However, as he had strolled through the area briefly before, he still somewhat had some impression of this place.
Suddenly, he tripped over something.
Thud-
A young kid fell down to the floor, his throat trembling. His face was white, but there were large patches of bruises on his forehead. Raising his eyelids slightly, the young kid whimpered, “Save me…”
Lin Jie pondered for a while and pressed the Light Talisman on the kid’s chest. The Holy Light covered his body, and his body mechanisms returned to function normally. In the blink of an eye, his health bar was filled up.
“Thank you.” The kid stood up happily. His eyes were clouded—he had no eye-whites, and his dark iris covered the entire of his eyes like the black ink splattered out by squids.
“To show my gratitude, please die here.”
His name turned red!
Lin Jie’s throat was locked by the kid’s hands before he could react. His health bar started to decrease by 30 plus points per second. Under the spell, he was unable to make any movements!
The Fallen Believer: Level 7, Health Points 500.
Light Empathy!
Lin Jie tried his hardest to stretch out his fingers and pointed at the believer. Its hold was released for a moment, and Lin Jie finally freed his neck. He gulped down a health potion and activated Wild Charge. The Broken Blade slashed towards the believer’s stomach and caused 40 plus damage. The attack was followed by Army Obliteration, which depleted much of the believer’s health bar instantly!
“Why should you reject my kind intentions?” The believer escaped from Lin Jie’s continuous attacks, opened its arms and ran towards Lin Jie.
Rebel’s Fight!
-75!
Using Broken Blade to push away the believer, Lin Jie enlarged the Shield of Courage which he held in his left hand and hit the believer’s chin accurately, stopping its attack forcefully. He then activated the Rocket Launcher, turned around and distanced himself a few steps away. That was also to keep the believer within the designated attack range of the Forward Charge. Following that, Lin Jie transformed to a black shadow and stunned the believer with Forward Charge, simultaneously activating Army Obliteration again after its previous cooldown period, stabbing the believer’s body three times consecutively.
This whole series of actions were completed as smoothly as the movement of flowing water and floating clouds!
——’You have killed the Fallen Believer. You received 355 EXP (Over-level Kill). Kind Yatasha’s favorability towards you -1.’
Lin Jie was dumbfounded. ‘What, her favorability actually decreased when one kills monsters? Forget it, just let it decrease.’
He stored the items; a bronze coin, a copy of My Belief prayer book, and a broken fragment, which was spawned by the believer away in his bag.
Fragment of the Map of The Dark Monastery: 1/50.
Opening the My Belief prayer book, Lin Jie saw that it was filled with words of praises by believers for the missionary within all the passages. This made Lin Jie confirm his suspicions that the believers had all been totally brainwashed. They would turn out to be a group of madmen even if they were rescued from the monastery.
The price of this book was just one bronze coin per copy. Even so, Lin Jie decided to keep it in his bag, so that he could show it to the pedantic young girl later on when he got out from this place.
Proceeding for less than three minutes, Lin Jie met another sobbing believer. This time round he had learned his lesson. Activating Army Obliteration, he finished the believer off while it was still in a weak state.
——’You have killed the pitiful believer. Your EXP +1. Kind Yatasha’s favorability towards you -50. (Note: once her favorability decreased by 100, your mission will be stopped.)’
Lin Jie raised his brows. ‘Goodness, does this mean that I have to save all the believers first before I kill them?’
Lin Jie remembered when he was young, his teacher had told him the famous fable of ‘The Farmer and The Snake.’ Basically, a foolish farmer came across a snake in the wild and wanted to roast it for its meat. However, he did not have any tools to build a fire, and thus had an ‘ingenious’ idea of trying to warm it up with his own body heat. In the end, the farmer was eaten up by the snake just like sashimi. The moral of this story applied to the scenario Lin Jie was in now too.
The passageway appeared longer than what Lin Jie remembered from his previous life. It seemed like there was no end to it.
‘Perhaps, it means that one could only leave the place after completing Yatasha’s mission? In that case, it obviously means that the Light Talisman can’t be used on oneself. This darn system!’
——————————
Lin Jie repeated the process of saving the believers, seeing them turn evil and killing them several times. He got numerous prayer books spawned from his kills, which were all full of passages singing praises of the missionary. That situation reminded him of a famous player. That player had been the only player who had set up a sect in the game. The more player and NPC believers and/or followers he received, the more powerful his Stats would become. In fact, he had once even been comparable to the half god-like Bosses in the game.
“Save me…”
A hoarse and low voice was heard. Lin Jie brightened up, finally, the 10th believer! He rushed to the believer who was donning a black robe and restored its health bar with the Light Talisman. Following which, the Broken Blade slashed down upon the believer!
“Stop!” A shrill voice was heard. Yatasha appeared out of nowhere in front of him. She pointed at Lin Jie angrily. “How many innocent people have you killed?”
Lin Jie shrugged his shoulders and thrust Broken Blade into the believer’s throat. This move could restrict the target monster’s movements and was especially handy when one needed to fend off neutral Bosses.
-1!
The believer’s head dropped down dead.
——’You have killed the Righteous Believer. You received 400 EXP. Kind Yatasha’s favorability towards you -2000.’
“You are a devil!” Yatasha was infuriated. Though she might be kind, if one did anything overboard in front of her, that player would be dead meat. After all, as the Light Priest Hero, Yatasha’s abilities was not only limited to Holy Light Spells. Ever since she was born, she had extremely high amounts of health points, and she could cast all sorts of Life Curses on her targets without having to decrease her health points.
Including his name, Lin Jie’s whole body emanated off a blood-red sheen.
Evil score: 1000!
Lin Jie couldn’t believe his eyes. As the common saying went, ‘If one is out to condemn somebody, he can always trump up a charge.’—that was definitely the situation he found himself in now!
Saying that it was not totally useless for increasing his Evil scores. At least, he now made the accomplishment of [Thousands Killer] and even earned himself the alias of [Maniac Killer], along with a 1% increase in his Critical Hit.
An evil score of 1000 points! He would most probably need to play non-stop in the game for at least one month to refresh his evil score. He really was done for this time round.
‘Yatasha’s Mission’ was deleted from his Missions List. However, she was still staring angrily at Lin Jie. “I know that all of you who came from the alternate realms are immortals. Yet, it is still necessary for you to respect the lives of aborigines. Fu Sheng, I curse you to…”
At the same moment, an exit appeared at the end of the passageway. Indeed, that passageway was part of a mission map.
Lin Jie activated Hunter’s Forward Charge coupled with Wild Charge, disappearing around the corner of the passageway in the blink of an eye. Curse type of skills could only take effect when the target was right in front of the person casting the curse.
“Phew…”
As soon as he was out of danger, Lin Jie heaved a sigh of relief. ‘This Yatasha really could not discriminate right from wrong, I should find an opportunity to teach her a lesson!’
Lin Jie looked around to find his bearings. The interior of the Dark Monastery was divided into different sections, such as the Library, Weaponry Hall, Prayer Church and so on.
Logically, a piece of equipment should be located within the Weaponry Hall, or else… the Prayer Church? Lin Jie made up his mind, drank a bottle of Invisible potion and crept stealthily into the Weaponry Hall.
The whole Weaponry Hall was empty. Lin Jie rubbed his eyes. So did it mean that there were no monsters here? Thinking back, there seemed to be no monsters sighted on his way in too. Could someone else have reached this place before him?
Swoosh!
A balded hunter was refreshed before Lin Jie’s eyes while he stood still at the spot, distracted by his thoughts. The hunter’s muscles were exposed, and other than a belt, he had nothing else on his body. With a whistle, a team of hound dogs was summoned out.
Dark Hunter Believer: Level 8, Health Points: 700.
Hound Dog: Level 5, Health Points: 200.
It was a battle between five dogs and one person!
Lin Jie shot a gust of fire blaze out from his waist. Under the shooting effects of the Rocket Launcher, he retreated backward at high speed. The hound dogs missed him from their initial pounces, and after which, they bounded towards him even faster! On the other hand, the hunter raised his gun and was about to fire when Lin Jie disappeared around the corner. Carrying his gun, he immediately followed closely behind.
This was a typical Evasion-Luring strategy by blocking the target’s vision field!
Stomping his right foot on the ground, Lin Jie stopped abruptly in his tracks and slashed Broken Blade against the dogs. As its sharp blade slit across the dogs’ furry stomachs, the foremost hound dog suffered 50 plus damage, while the rest suffered 10 plus damage from the splash damage.
Blade Aura Executioner!
Army Obliteration!
-56!
-55!
-84! (Critical Strike)
A hound dog howled and dropped dead on the floor. At the same time, the hunter finally appeared from behind the corner and raised his gun.
‘Run!’
Lin Jie disappeared behind another corner, killing another hound dog in the process.
When the hunter turned around that corner and raised his gun for the third time, Lin Jie had finished off all the hound dogs. He got near the hunter using Forward Charge and stabbed him consecutively using Broken Blade. In the midst of all the attacks, Lin Jie also activated several Shield Strikes using the Shield of Courage at the hunter. The hunter was helpless to retaliate and finally died, lying on his back and facing upwards to Lin Jie.
Hunters were basic creatures found in any Weaponry Hall. Each Hunter could summon five hound dogs, and the group could turn out to be really hard to deal with. As hunters had trained their hound dogs with special techniques, one would be dead meat if they were sieged by the group.
——’You received the Skill Book: Summoning of Hound Dogs’
——’You received a Torn Map.’
——’You received a Black Stone Crystal Fire Gun.’
Hunters could only learn how to summon hound dogs after they changed their jobs to become Beast King Hunters at Level 10. They could summon five hound dogs at a time, and each hound dog would have an Attack Power 50, but Health Points 30. Even so, that was still a great Contain type of skill.
Black Stone Crystal Fire Gun (Silver)
Can be used by Warriors, Hunters, and Bandits.
Requires: Level 5
Attack: 20-32
Strength: +1
Attack Range: +2
Additional: Crystal Bullets
With this fire gun, Lin Jie could finally throw away his original hunting guns. Lin Jie tried to aim using the fire gun and was greatly satisfied. It was much better regarding aiming range, attack power, and recoil power.
Pinning it to the Long-ranged Weapon Column, Lin Jie crept silently towards the Weaponry Hall.
“Hah!”
“Die!”
Bold shouts were heard from the hall’s interior.
