Chapter 231 - Do They Think I Am Dead?
Chapter 231: Do They Think I Am Dead?
Chief detective and Chu Xuning were shocked at Yu Shijin’s words.
But the surroundings were just too quiet. Even if the two of them focused their attention, they would not detect the presence of anyone.
But they knew that Yu Shijin’s instincts were never wrong.
They could not detect any presence as the person was much more powerful than the two of them.
At the thought of that, the two of them couldn’t help scanning their surroundings again.
“I must thank Master Yu today.” Apollo walked over and cupped his fist in a gesture of respect to Yu Shijin. Instead of his usual nonchalance, his golden eyes were deep and serious. “Otherwise, it would have definitely ended up in a terrible battle.”
Chief detective and Chu Xuning exchanged a look. They were both thinking the same thing: Was this Apollo?
Yu Shijin kept silent for a moment, his dark eyes turning chilly.
He finally lifted his eyes a moment later and spoke in a mild tone. “We will have to face him sooner or later.”
His voice was impassive.
Apollo didn’t say anything more. The stage was set and Yu Shijin’s appearance today was already the best outcome one could hope for. “Come find me anytime you need anything, Master Yu.”
He hurried off after that.
Yu Shijin remained standing there, his hand still on the car door. His pitch-black eyes gazed off in another direction.
He waited several minutes.
Under the weak street lights, the curve of his lips was cold.
Chief detective and Chu Xuning stood beside him, not daring to speak.
Finally, he gave a faint smile that was somewhat self-mocking. He spoke to chief detective and Chu Xuning. “Let’s go.”
The car doors were closed with a slam.
Inside the car.
Yu Shijin glanced calmly at the rearview mirror.
It was all dark. There was no one there at all.
“Master Yu, the Old City Lord is on video-call.” Chief detective handed the laptop over to him.
With one hand still resting upon the car window, Yu Shijin reached out the other to accept the laptop. He gazed at the screen. “What?”
“I saw the live broadcast.” Yu Hongchang was leaning against the chair. It was somewhat dark and one could not see his expression.
Yu Shijin remained silent and just raised his eyebrows. His expression prompted Yu Hongchang to tell him what he meant.
Yu Hongchang paused for a moment before continuing, “That Su S, is she real or fake?”
Yu Shijin was slightly taken aback.
He lowered his eyes and pursed his lips. His cold eyes looked especially profound. He said slowly, “Who?”
“The one who was previously touted as one of the Double Kings together with you.” Yu Hongchang straightened his body. He was very curious. He had never seen Yu Shijin in such an agitated state before. “You probably didn’t see the live broadcast just now. You can search for it online now. That red dress and silver mask. It was her signature outfit in Unknown Island in the past.”
By then, Yu Shijin had already opened a web browser and was typing on the keyboard with one hand.
He pressed enter without any hesitation.
The real-time comments flashing across the video was blocking the figure and he cleared them all away to see that dazzling profile.
He was pressing the keys with undue ferocity.
“Do you think this person is for real?” Yu Hongchang was still pondering the question.
“No need to guess.” Yu Shijin’s eyes had turned into two dark abysses. “It’s her.”
Even the current commander-in-chief of the International Association was in a panic trying to determine her authenticity. How could Yu Shijin be so sure?
Yu Hongchang was stunned.
He gaped, wanting to say something.
But Yu Shijin just closed the laptop.
—
The Dugu Family.
Dugu Heng sat at the head of the table, his face very grim.
He had been at Monster University the entire day, personally investigating that matter on Su Huiqing. He never expected Song San to seek out the Dugu Family matriarch.
The Dugu Family matriarch was sent home by a team of men. She rubbed her hands uncomfortably. “Little Heng…”
“What did I tell you? Have you forgotten?” Dugu Heng looked extremely intimidating.
How dare she help report on Apollo? If not for the sudden appearance of those two, the International Association would have descended into chaos.
Dugu Heng’s face turned even more grim at that thought.
He didn’t wish to bother about the Dugu Family matriarch anymore. He turned toward his subordinate, his voice as harsh as steel. “Tomorrow… no, do it now. Send the Old Madam and Dugu Wu out of the International Association.”
The Dugu Family matriarch’s face froze. “Little Heng, have you been bewitched by those two?!”
“You are old now and should find a good place to retire. Since you treasure Dugu Wu so much, have her by your side to take good care of you.” Dugu Heng’s voice was cold and merciless.
Everyone in the Dugu Family lowered their heads, not daring to say anything.
After Dugu Heng issued his instructions, he drove over to the Su Family residence.
His chilly aura only faded when he arrived at the Su Family residence. His lips were pursed. From the morning until now, he felt like he was floating on air.
As if everything around him was very unreal.
He never expected that Su Huiqing would be his daughter.
No other news would bring him more joy than this.
Dugu Heng sat in the car and smiled to himself. Nevertheless, he had to get to the bottom of this matter. He knew very well that he had never been with a woman, apart from that one time…
Dugu Heng knocked on the door, still lost in his thoughts.
Su Huiqing opened the door. She was just unbuttoning her jacket with one hand, the other hand resting on the door. She raised her delicate brows. “Uncle Dugu?”
Dugu Heng’s eyes went blank for a moment, before he patted Su Huiqing on the shoulder. “Not uncle. You are my daughter!”
On closer scrutiny, Su Huiqing’s face did look rather similar to Dugu Heng’s.
She inherited that cold, harsh profile, and those brows…
Su Huiqing was momentarily taken aback before using her feet to push back the door. She stated casually. “You and my mother are not official yet.”
“It’s not that.” Dugu Heng took out a piece of paper and handed it to Su Huiqing. “You are my biological daughter!”
Smash!
Su Ruohua was just coming out of the kitchen and she dropped her glass onto the floor.
Su Huiqing and Dugu Heng both turned toward Su Ruohua.
“Okay.” Su Huiqing shoved her hands into her pockets. “You two have a chat first and then tell me your conclusion. I will head upstairs first.”
But there was a strange feeling in her heart.
Dugu Heng was her biological father?
It was rather fantastical.
Gideon didn’t leave after dinner and was still playing card games with the rest. He saw Su Huiqing heading upstairs and jumped up to follow her. “Wait for me. I have something to discuss with you.”
Dugu Heng was still looking at Su Ruohua when he heard Gideon’s words.
He couldn’t help looking in Su Huiqing’s direction with a slight frown.
He was well aware of what kind of person Gideon was. He was mixed up with people like Apollo. With the International Association in such a state, Dugu Heng didn’t wish for Su Huiqing to associate with people like Gideon. It was too dangerous.
But he had gathered a lot of information on Su Huiqing.
She had been in Green City all along. How did she get to know such fearsome people like Gideon, Apollo and Dugu Yusheng?
These were not the type of people whom you would casually encounter on the streets.
Especially…
Dugu Heng looked thoughtfully at the way Gideon followed humbly behind Su Huiqing.
However, Su Ruohua soon commanded his attention.
“Follow me.” Su Ruohua had composed herself and she glanced at Dugu Heng.
Her voice was calm.
So calm that Dugu Heng’s shoulders tensed involuntarily.
Upstairs.
Su Huiqing tossed her jacket on the bed.
She opened her laptop.
Chi Yue had sent a video to her and she pressed the enter key.
A cold smile slowly spread across her face, which was lit by the glow of the computer screen. “So not only did these people want to kill me, they wanted to kill my mother too. I never expected this.”
“That’s right.” Gideon hustled over to take a look. “The Dugu Family Head saved your mother, but how come he never mentioned it?”
“He didn’t want to alert the enemy.” Su Huiqing gave a cold laugh before opening another document.
“The Ye Family?” Gideon was shocked.
Su Huiqing didn’t reply to him but just took out her cell phone and dialed a number. Her voice was cold with murderous rage. “Get me the address!”
