Chapter 2396: Carrot
Chapter 2396: Carrot
"Do you have any more detailed information on these three abominations that you
mentioned? Even the details about them before they turned would be helpful." Sam asked after digesting the information.
The lady nodded and passed him a few scrolls. Sam quickly scanned through them with the help of a bird puppet and compiled them into three individual reports. The bird puppet projected the three reports side by side.
The lady was dumbfounded.
She just saw the spectacle with her eyes wide open. Sam just gave her a side-eyed glance and continued to check the details.
It is not that he cannot read the reports through the scrolls. However, he is using the opportunity to display the merits of being on his side. Its just basic carrot and stick method. He threatened her and all the humans in this place a couple of minutes ago, now he is showing that he might have something incredible to offer along with that threat.
She wanted to ask what exactly it is and how Sam did it.
But she didn't. She noticed how seriously Sam is looking at the information and refrained from speaking.
Sam just took ten minutes before he understood the reports.
"Most of the information is before their change. The one you call the water abomination is a water element cultivator. The sky abomination is a wind cultivator and the land abomination is a dual elemental cultivator with earth and wood.
That kind of explains why they turned into those specific abominations.
But there is no mention of any of their experiments and the possible things they have done." "That is a very well kept secret. None of the surviving settlements have any information regarding that. Even before turning into abominations they are way too powerful for the human race of this planet. There is no one who could force them to reveal the information even if they tried.
So, they were kept secret and they remained a secret after the war."
"No one tried to explore this a bit more? Maybe they could have found a way out of this from their labs." Sam asked.
"We did think of doing it. And we do believe that we might indeed gain some cure for this situation there. Even if we cannot turn those creatures back, we at least believed we might get some info on their weaknesses.
But we are beaten back even before we could entertain that thought.
We are barely maintaining the status quo with the limited knowledge we have. Like how we used the poisonous sea beasts to keep the water abomination and his underlings at bay, other settlements do have similar to means to keep the other abominations at bay.
Even though we are at a relative safety, we cannot entertain such grand thoughts because we noticed that our current means are temporary.
These creatures are slowly gaining immunity to poison.
So, our priority is to think of ways to survive first."
"Understood."
Sam went mute for a while after saying that. He just kept on thinking what to do and how to proceed forward with a plan.
After some time, he spoke to her.
"I forgot to ask your name."
"Naila."
"Okay, why are all the settlements not together? Don't you guys have the spatial transportation technology?"
"Some settlements do, and they attempted it at the start. But the Sky abomination has a way to interrupt it. It has means to find the locations of people when a transmission has been used. Through that, it managed to look past the illusion arrays we made and destroyed a couple of settlements."
Sam nodded and went silent again.
From the moment he entered here, he managed to understand the measures they took.
The illusion array they mentioned is a decently made illusion formation that masks their presence to all senses. And it was designed to the point that it can only be seen by humans, which in itself is not that easy to execute.
A highly intelligent spirit is needed to keep it active and the energy it very high. Luckily, they are using some spirit stone mines as energy source. They are part of the formation and they are pretty much self-sustaining.
This is the measure against the sky abomination.
The measure against the water abomination is pretty clear. The poison beasts and an alert mechanism installed in the form of that light house. That also needs a high level spirit.
As for the Land abomination, they removed all the forests. Even the foundation of the city seemed to have been revamped completely. Isolating it with the surrounding soil. Another thing he noticed is that there is some presence of death energy around.
Maybe to mask their vitality which could be traced by the wood element.
Sam mulled over the next plan of action and said.
"Contact all the other settlements immediately. Tell them about what I told you. Inform them of my existence and my aspirations here. Be transparent and tell them what they will have to face if they align themselves with the other outside cultivators that will appear with
them.
Also tell them, that I will give the settlements a reward if they inform me of these external cultivators.
If they ask what kind of reward, show them this if you can."
As Sam said, he took out gun. A handgun to be precise. It has purple patterns all over it. It emitted an extremely eerie and toxic aura.
Naila held the gun and looked at it with confusion.
"I will give you a demonstration in a moment. Give me your hand."
Naila did as she was told. Sam held her hand and started channeling his spatial energy.
*SWOOSH*
Both of them disappeared from the spot and reappeared a few miles away from the city. Before Naila could get her bearings back, she felt the force pulling her again.
After a few zaps like that, they reappeared back at the beach they were at the start.
At that moment, the water in the sea created a whirl from which several humanoid creatures
that they faced before were shot towards the beach.
They crashed into the sand and stood up immediately. They looked around, not understanding what has happened. When they landed their eyes on Sam and Naila, they immediately ran towards them.
Sam spoke to Naila as he took out a different gun and aimed it at them.
"Follow the exact movements as me. Aim the weapon like this."
She did the same.
"Now, injected a bit of your spiritual energy."
Sam deliberately revealed how he is injected the energy and she copied exactly.
"Now click on that trigger."
*BANG* *BANG*
Two bullets flew out of the gun and hit two creatures.
*PUFF**PUFF*
Once the bullets hit, they exploded in puff of poisonous smoke. The creatures stopped
running and fell to the ground, flapping around like fish out of the water. Within seconds,
they died. Their bodies withered like dried fish.
Naila widened her eyes in disbelief.
"Finish them, please."
Naila kept on shooting them. Sam is surprised how decent of a shot she is. She shot twelve
times and hit eight targets. Not bad for the first time.
After she is done with them, he spoke.
"From what I experienced with them, these creatures are way too weak under the potent poison. But they are tough to fight directly, even if your strength is higher compared to them.
They are high in number, powerful in combat and they heal as well.
But when you use a truly potent poison, they are done for.
I am guessing you are not taking this approach because the creatures have grown accustomed
to most of the poisons that people of your planet could create?"
Naila nodded absentmindedly. She is still lost in the feeling of how easy it was to kill these
nightmarish creatures.
After she got off her shock, she was about to ask Sam something, but he stopped her and
threw a spatial ring to her.
The ring is filled with handguns.
"Each weapon only endures about fifteen shots and it will automatically collapse. I am sure, this is enough fire power for the first line of defense in your settlement.
I don't have access to other lackeys of water abomination and the other abominations. But for these creatures that we faced and those sharks, this level of weapon will be enough. Of course,
you might want to shoot the shark a few more times.
Use this as a bargaining chip.
As long as they accept my deal, they will have a few of these. And I will even device a plan of action to get back some of your territory and improve your lives. I need an answer in one hour.
Meanwhile, I need a quite and isolated room to conduct some research."
Naila nodded and they hurriedly went back to the city.
While Sam was sent to a room as per his choice. She went to talk to her peers in other
settlements.
