Chapter 1880 - So Empty and Cold
Chapter 1880: So Empty and Cold
“Move?”
Pei Ge’s eyes were filled with confusion as her gaze landed on the wound on Ji Ziming’s left leg. Her voice was gentle as she asked, “You don’t have much interaction with my grandma, right? How did you know about this?”
“Silly, I really don’t have much interaction with your grandmother, but I do know a little about your mother. You forgot that there’s a small plot of land in the small building where you and your mother live in America.”
“What happened to the land?”
Pei Ge still did not understand why she did not notice the similarities between the two despite having been in contact with them for so long. Could it be that Zhang Manhua and Uncle Bai had done something behind her back?
Thinking about it this way, it seemed plausible. After all, Ji Ziming was more meticulous than Pei Ge.
“Silly girl. There must be vegetables planted in the plot of land. Since there are vegetables there, there must be hard labor. Since it’s labor, there must be action. The day I saw Uncle Bai planting vegetables, his fertilizing actions were different from others. I remembered that Mom also planted vegetables like this. So, I knew.”
Ji Ziming narrowed his eyes and looked at Pei Ge with a dazed look.
“That’s why you knew that Uncle Bai and my grandma had some sort of relationship back then.”
At this point, she finally understood why he could easily see the small details that she had not seen. The details were too small but she knew that she could only know what she could think of.
“Ge Ge, if it were you, would you choose to believe a stranger’s words and agree to let a stranger escape with his family after revealing the secrets he knew?”
“So, after Uncle Bai told you about what happened back then, he had already left with the girl, right?”
Only then did she remember that when she went to look for Uncle Bai, more than half of the people in the alley had already moved away, so it was Ji Ziming who was handling this matter.
No wonder the alley was so empty and cold when she went to look for it.
Without Uncle Bai around, everything seemed bleak and cold. Perhaps, the tea was cold when people were gone. Pei Ge raised her head to look at the window not far away, her heart filled with hope and anticipation for those who were still alive.
“Ge Ge, don’t worry. Uncle Bai and the lass are fine. If you want to visit them, I’ll go with you.”
Ji Ziming saw through the longing in Pei Ge’s eyes and said softly, “I can accompany you wherever you want to go. I know that you are worried about Uncle Bai, so when he left, I arranged for someone to send him off. If you are really worried, we can end it at Old lady Qu’s place for a short while and I’ll bring you there.”
“Is Uncle Bai overseas?”
Pei Ge asked. She lowered her head to look into his eyes.
“He is overseas, and it’s a place you know.”
The corners of Ji Ziming’s lips curled up as he looked at Pei Ge with his bright eyes. The cold aura around him was replaced by the gentleness in his eyes when he looked at Pei Ge. In his heart, he thought of her as his unique queen. Nothing in this world could compare to her.
So what if it was the Ji Group? So what if it was Mr Ji’s status and reputation?
“Ziming, thank you for being considerate. If it weren’t for you, I probably wouldn’t have been able to pull Old lady Qu down completely. This vicious woman, even if there’s retribution, it’s still not coming. This can be considered as the heavens being kind to her.”
“Since she’s a vicious woman and a conceited woman, there must be a way to break her. Without me, you can do the same, but you still need some time. With me, you’ll save time and energy. Why not?”
Pei Ge looked at Ji Ziming, the gentleness in her eyes finally melting into water. Her gaze had long been engulfed by his deep affection.
“Ge Ge, you will always be unique to me. You have to know this.”
“I know.”
She nodded and looked at Ji Ziming’s injured left leg.
If Ji Ziming had not walked over to hug her, she would probably be the one lying on the bed with her wound bandaged.
“Does it still hurt?”
She said as her heart ached for him.
“It doesn’t hurt anymore.”
Ji Ziming shook his head and looked at Pei Ge with gentle eyes. “Actually, I knew that Old lady Qu would use the dagger against you.”
“I know.”
Pei Ge nodded, her eyes no longer filled with confusion.
How could she not know that in Ji Ziming’s eyes, everything about her had already ended up in various ways. Those people and things which were unfavorable to her, none of them could escape his eyes. At this moment, because of his protection, Pei Ge felt unprecedentedly touched.
The person beside her had always put himself in danger to ensure her safety, yet she had placed herself in danger time and time again. His deep love was something that Pei Ge could not repay even in a few lifetimes.
“Ziming, did you ask the bodyguard to stab Old lady Qu with a dagger? The bodyguard could have use a gun but he didn’t.”
“You’ve become smarter this time.”
Ji Ziming slid his head onto Pei Ge’s other leg. His voice was gentle and his gentle aura wrapped around her like a ribbon.
“Go on, Ge Ge. I’m listening.”
“Ziming, you’re purposely giving Old lady Qu a chance to hurt you. The moment Old lady Qu squatted down, it was you who walked up and hugged me. This way, I won’t be able to see her expression or see what she’s doing. Only then will everything be under your control. Only then will I be safe and Old lady Qu will have a new piece of evidence for murdering the capital’s big boss, Mr Ji.”
“Ge Ge, I’ve already said that there’s nothing in my world that can compare to you. I know that you want to pull Old lady Qu down completely and I also know that you want to use your own methods to make this woman unable to stay in the capital anymore.”
