If she knew that she was Heaven, would she misunderstand and think that he was lying to her?

The Heaven Emperor found himself regretting his earlier playfulness. If he hadn’t acted that way, perhaps none of this would have transpired. Now, he had to conceal his regrets and navigate the consequences.

Furrowing his brow, he contemplated his next steps.

The Sect Leader of Xing Sect returned to the sect with a helpless expression and lingering fear. The situation with Xiaoyun had an explanation, but why did it seem to be escalating?

The Sect Leader was visibly distressed.

Upon her return to the Xing Sect, she sought out Xiaoyun and Gu Chaoyan. Given the Heaven Emperor’s simultaneous arrangements for both, she had to address the matter promptly.

“Xiaoyun, you’re now in charge of these female officials. For the time being, you won’t handle the other duty. Continue overseeing the Heaven Emperor’s clothes,” instructed the Sect Leader of Xing Sect.

Xiaoyun appeared slightly disappointed.

She wasn’t going to the Heaven Emperor’s palace as a maid? Instead, she was returning here?

It wasn’t an entirely positive development, but it wasn’t negative either. At least, it was better than the current situation. She would persist in managing the Heaven Emperor’s clothes. When the opportune moment presented itself, she could still transition into a maid role. Regardless, staying in the palace indefinitely was not an option.

But…

She knew her place.

She was also a little puzzled. If she continued to be in charge of the Heaven Emperor’s clothes, then what about this person?

What was she responsible for?

Xiaoyun had her own questions, and so did Gu Chaoyan.

Xiaoyun continued to be in charge of her original tasks. What about her?

Now responsible for the Heaven Emperor’s attire, could she find solace in returning to the mountains?

The Sect Leader of Xing Sect, eyeing Gu Chaoyan, was hesitant about making any arrangements. Yet, the Heaven Emperor had already dictated the course of action, leaving him with little choice.

In reluctant frustration, the Sect Leader of Xing Sect declared, “Gu Chaoyan, starting from tomorrow, you will serve as a maid in the court of the Heaven Emperor. As a member of the Celestial Thearch’s court, you will be among the celestial beings. Although you will no longer be under Xing Sect’s direct jurisdiction, remember, you’re still a representative of our sect. Exercise caution and refrain from bringing shame to Xing Sect. Success in your duties is imperative; failure might mean more than losing the maid position—you might find yourself unable to return at all. Don’t underestimate the challenges that lie ahead.”

The Sect Leader of Xing Sect rambled on unhappily.

After saying that, he was slightly satisfied.

Gu Chaoyan was still in the intermediate state of shock, so she did not have time to listen to what the Sect Leader of Xing Sect said.

She was going to be a maid in the Heaven Emperor’s palace?

How could it be so fast?

It felt as if someone was helping her without her doing anything.

These things came suddenly and she was at a loss.

Xiaoyun was more angry than shocked.

Why?

No matter what, this job was the one she had been on for the longest. Logically speaking, it should have been hers. How could it be the turn of such an unknown person?

Why?

Resentment simmered in Xiaoyun’s gaze as she regarded the Sect Leader of Xing Sect. The perceived bias from the sect leader left her feeling unfairly treated.

She couldn’t help but wonder if the Sect Leader’s actions were driven by prejudice. How else could she find herself entangled in such an unjust situation?

However, the Sect Leader of Xing Sect remained indifferent to Xiaoyun’s resentment. He continued focusing on instructing Gu Chaoyan, harboring concerns that she might bring about embarrassment. After all, she was the one ascending to the celestial court.

Gu Chaoyan, caught in the middle, felt a sense of helplessness. The Sect Leader’s apparent bias against her weighed heavily on her shoulders.
