Chapter 1637 - 1637 In Court 1
1637 In Court 1
Those servants from the court might be in a low position, but they worked for the King, so they clearly knew the rules here.
Lord Huai was grounded because the King preferred the Crown Prince and wanted the Crown Prince to marry the Phoenix Girl. However, Lord Huai and the Phoenix Girl were engaged, and the Phoenix Girl only wanted Lord Huai. That was why the King thought of this idea and tried to make Lord Huai disappear gradually from the capital.
Things had been going well, since Lord Huai was grounded whilst the Phoenix Girl moved around in her mansion and sometimes met the Crown Prince, but the Phoenix Girl went to Lord Huai’s Mansion to meet Lord Huai personally!
All they saw was the Phoenix Girl and Lord Huai’s servant speaking with each other, which made their mission easier. They could even tell the King about this and the King might grant them a bonus.
However, after a short while, Lord Huai and the Phoenix Girl were almost hugging each other.
They were shocked!
They were worried that when the King got angry, they would be punished too.
So they had to make the Phoenix Girl leave Lord Huai’s Mansion as soon as possible.
Those servants had an ever-changing expression on their faces, so Gu Chaoyan noticed it directly and could tell what they were thinking.
She was not worried that they would report this to the King. Instead, she wanted them to do that.
She was not going to cause the servants more trouble, since she knew that the King was getting so anxious about her whereabouts.
Standing up from the seat, she looked at Zhou Huaijin. “Then I will go into the court first, and come to you after I leave. Uncle Zhou, you have made great tea. I will come to drink it whenever I have time.”
Having said this, she walked out of the Pavilion calmly.
The servants threw a very disdainful look at Zhou Huaijin and Uncle Zhou and followed her.
Zhou Huaijin looked calm. He did not care about how those servants treated them, but Uncle Zhou was very angry. He was about to snap at those servants, when Zhou Huaijin stopped him.
He did not care about those small trivialities.
Uncle Zhou sighed, feeling that God was totally unfair and Lord Huai was too pitiful.
“Uncle Zhou, don’t think too much about it. Let’s drink tea. Chaoyan says that the tea is good, so it should be.” Zhou Huaijin smiled and poured Uncle Zhou some tea, telling him to drink it.
Zhou Huaijin always wore a very cold expression on his face, but he was gentle in front of people who served him.
Uncle Zhou sighed heavily.
Uncle Zhou wondered whether he should be happy or not, but he could not just sit down and drink the tea camly.
He left directly, grabbing the stuff. “I have a lot of other work to do, so I won’t continue to drink tea here. Lord Huai, you can drink it yourself, if you want to.”
Uncle Zhou left, angrily.
Zhou Huaijin stopped smiling and his face turned cold.
He just wanted Uncle Zhou not to be worried, thus putting on that look.
He told the hidden guards to come to him, before telling them what they should do.
At that moment… Gu Chaoyan had already walked out of the mansion.
It seemed that many more imperial soldiers had surrounded Lord Huai’s Mansion, and things were becoming weird. She made an observation and saw that the chief had been changed. The chief that led her in was gone.
Gu Chaoyan frowned and her expression sank.
