Chapter 1892 - 1892 Unusual
1892 Unusual
Serene Village was a rural place, but the buildings in the village were very unusual.
The houses were made of green roofs and red tiled walls along with blue stone paths. They were expecting thatched houses, but the place was completely different from regular villages.
No one could be seen walking around the village and every single compound was tightly closed, so the place was very quiet.
It seemed as though no one was living here. However, they could clearly smell people cooking in the air.
Zhuo Yun placed his hand on his belt. He was on high alert.
It seemed very peaceful, but this alone felt strange enough.
Huo Yao said nothing seeing Zhuo Yun’s reaction. Instead, she led some of the men until they reached the residence right at the end of the village.
The front door was also closed, so she raised her hand. Just as she was about to knock on the door, the wooden door opened from the inside.
The man at the door was briefly stunned to see Huo Yao and the others. He did not expect to see strangers here, so a wary look appeared on his face. “Who are you? What are you doing at the village?”
As he spoke, he moved his hand on the door slightly. Outsiders were naturally unable to see inside the door, but there was a circular metallic button on it.
Huo Yao noticed the village chief’s actions. She raised her brow and said slowly, “We are friends with Yu and we’re here to see someone.”
When the village chief heard the name, something about his expression changed. He looked at Huo Yao intently for some time. Even though she did not seem to have bad intentions, he still shouted coldly, “We don’t have anyone going by that name in the village. Outsiders aren’t welcome here, so just leave.”
Huo Yao seemed to already expect his reaction. “Can I have a word with you privately?”
The village chief went quiet for a few seconds. Perhaps owing to the name he heard, he removed his finger from the circular button and moved his body sideways slightly. “You can come in.”
Huo Yao turned to tell Min Yu and the others to wait outside before she entered the compound.
The village chief did not stop to look at the other men. After Huo Yao entered the residence, the door closed with a thud.
He clearly did not like having strangers around the village.
Seeing this, Zhuo Yun touched his nose and muttered, “He’s so strange. Who’s Yu anyway?”
Min Yu narrowed his eyes and did not respond to Zhuo Yun.
He remembered the first time he encountered Huo Yao’s elder, Aunt Tong. Aunt Tong also mentioned this name. If he was not mistaken, Yu was Shangguan Yu.
This was also Huo Yao’s other identity.
Her third older brother suffered fatal injuries, but she saved him. Only someone from the Shangguan clan was capable of pulling off such a feat.
After all, rumors sometimes did not come out of nowhere.
Zhuo Yun looked up at the compound. As he looked, he opened his eyes wide hastily.
Was it laser equipment?
They were in an ordinary compound in the countryside. Why would they have laser equipment?
Zhuo Yun rubbed his eyes and wondered if he was hallucinating.
Min Yu noticed Zhuo Yun’s reaction and glanced at him. “What’s wrong?”
“Boss, look. Is that laser equipment installed on the door?” asked Zhuo Yun softly as he pointed at some small holes located at the top of the door.
If someone familiar with security equipment saw this, they would have identified them at a glance.
“Yes, it’s laser equipment.” Before Min Yu could say a word, Myron spoke from the side.
As he spoke, he took two steps forward, raised his head, and looked in astonishment. “I have to say that this equipment looks very interesting. It doesn’t look the same as the ones you can find in the market.”
