They were, ultimately, just constructs condensed by arrays and not true life forms. His True Meaning of Mirage could do nothing to haul them into his illusions.
Xue Ying was using his Mirage Avatars to befuddle the beasts, yet his true body had already stealthily entered the Mirage, melding into nothingness before advancing.
