Chapter 4
Troublemaker, Princess Qi
Su Ying cursed under her breath and impatiently picked up a branch as thick as an arm. Just as the strong man was about to pounce on her, she hit his raised arm with the stick. Before the strong man could cry out in pain, she struck again.
This time, it landed heavily on his mouth.
“Ah!”
The strong man staggered and fell to his knees. He spat out a few yellow teeth and thick blood.
Su Ying gave him no chance to catch his breath. She pulled off his belt and slipped it under his armpits. Then, she threw the other end of the belt onto a tree and pulled it. In an instant, the strong man was hung on the sturdy trunk.
“B*tch, ou rat ye gone…” (you let me down…)
The other two who came along wanted to step forward with fierce expressions. But as soon as they took a step forward, Su Ying’s wooden stick smashed down on the man hanging on the tree.
The last ray of light from the setting sun fell into Su Ying’s cold eyes, which looked like a fire that could incinerate a person. “If you dare to take one step forward, I’ll break one of his arms. If you take two steps forward, I’ll cripple one of his legs until all his bones are broken.”
The two strong men were intimidated by Su Ying’s powerful aura and didn’t dare move when they recalled how ruthless she was when she fought the bailiffs.
The other prisoners had already noticed the situation. Seeing that the troublemakers didn’t dare to fight Su Ying head-on, they gave up some unsuitable ideas.
The bailiffs waited for a good show but were dismayed. They were not reconciled but dared not to cause any more trouble.
“What’s the background of that woman? She’s like an evil.” The bailiff glanced at Su Ying, and when his eyes met hers, he immediately averted his gaze. He had never seen such a scary troublemaker.
“Su Ying, Princess Qi.” A thin and small bailiff said.
“What? Princess Qi, that love-stricken idiot? How is this possible…” All the rest of the people were shocked.
It wasn’t a secret in the capital that the Prime Minister had a love-stricken elder daughter. She was always around the First Prince, Xiao Jue, and wished she could strip naked and get in the Prince’s bed.
Who would have thought that fate would play tricks on them? The Emperor had bestowed a marriage between her and Prince Qi. After the wedding, she still had an unclear relationship with the First Prince, which was talked about with great relish.
However, that was no longer important. The important thing was, how did this idiot suddenly become so powerful? How she looked when she stroked was in no way like an idiot who only knew flirting.
As the bailiffs were discussing Su Ying, one of the prisoners was also looking in Su Ying’s direction with a sinister gaze.
Su Ying lifted her head abruptly and looked at the crowd behind her. All she saw were lifeless prisoners. She frowned and looked away.
Her senses were very sharp. She had felt an extremely aggressive gaze earlier. Before she could probe further, Ji, lying on the side, started groaning.
Su Ying gathered her thoughts, reached out, and touched Ji’s forehead.
It was burning. Damn it, he got a fever after all.
She carefully checked the wounds on Ji’s back. They were slightly red and swollen. The medicine did not defeat the infection.
She took advantage of the darkness of the night and went behind a tree. When she came out again, she had a micro-needle filled with medicine in her hand. The micro-needle was only the size of a thumb and would not be discovered at all if she hid it in her hand.
She returned to Ji’s side and made the injection. Then, she fed him some fever-reducing drug. Judging from the wounds’ appearances, the fever might not subside in three to five days.
To let Ji sleep more comfortably, Su Ying placed his head on her lap to rest.
“Bad, bad woman, you can’t sell your sister…” Ji’s sword-shaped eyebrows were tightly furrowed, and he looked like he was stirring in sleep.
Su Ying let out a sigh slowly as she heard him mumble. She placed her warm hand lightly on his head and said in a low voice: “Don’t be afraid. With me here, no one can harm you.” Then, she started to hum a soothing lullaby.
An auntie taught her this song. She was the only one who had given her warmth in the camp. Whenever she felt terrified, the auntie would hum this song for her.
She swore to take her auntie away from that bloody world. However, auntie was torn into pieces by zombies before she could become strong.
Su Ying closed her eyes and hid the pain. When she opened them again, she had returned to her cold and distant self.
With Su Ying’s comfort, Ji gradually calmed down. Su Ying took the opportunity, leaned against the tree, and closed her eyes.
The moment her breathing became even, Xiao Jin opened his black eyes.
His starry eyes fell on Su Ying, and even the night couldn’t hide the coldness in them.
He didn’t believe that Su Ying would suddenly change her personality and treat him and the children well. He was waiting to find out what this woman’s ultimate goal was.
The white marble-colored sky had a faint inky shade.
When Su Ying opened her eyes, the bailiffs were already waving their whips and scolding the weak prisoners to get up and hurry on their way.
“Get up, get up! All of you, get up!”
There was a time limit on how long the bailiffs could escort prisoners. They had to deliver the prisoners and return to the capital to report on their mission by a specific deadline. Otherwise, their mission would not be counted, and they would be punished.
They were delayed for almost half a day yesterday, so they had to leave early today to make up.
Su Ying stood up and glanced at the broken branches nearby. The man hung on the tree yesterday had been rescued by his accomplices. She did not pay much regard to that. She would kill every single one of these scumbags that came her way.
As soon as Xiao Jin woke up, he felt a piercing pain in his leg. It was the first time he had felt so much pain in the past few days. Although the pain was unbearable, he knew that his injuries were turning for the better.
He bore with the pain and carried Ling up. However, the moment he moved, his arms lost their strength. He could only just about hold the child but could by no means stand up and walk.
Su Ying was about to carry Ji on her back when he saw Xiao Jin’s dark expression. “You can’t even stand alone and still want to carry the child? You must see if you have the ability before showing off.”
Xiao Jin’s pupils shrank, and a dark glint appeared in his dark eyes.
When Su Ying met his eyes, she felt as if she was being stared at by a black hole, which made her uncomfortable.
She did not know what kind of evil place this person managed to crawl out of that he could exhibit such pressure when he was in his terrible state.
Su Ying waved at Ling. “Ling, come to me. I have food for you.”
Ling was still a little afraid of Su Ying. However, when she saw cold sweat on Xiao Jin’s forehead due to the pain from his wounds, she obediently got up.
“Father, Ling is not injured. Ling can walk by herself.”
Su Ying stuffed a piece of food into Ling’s hands. “Be good. Have something to eat first. We’ll be on our way soon.”
Ling held the food and looked at Su Ying with pleading. Su Ying understood and said: “Don’t worry. Your father has some too.”
Ling began to eat only after hearing those words.
Xiao Jin tried to stand up, but every time he moved, a heart-piercing pain came from his legs. In the end, he sat back down weakly.
Just as he was about to try again, someone lifted his arm. The next moment, Su Ying helped him up.
The blue veins on Xiao Jin’s forehead jumped.
“Let go!”
