Chapter 7
Favorable Impressions
Xia Xin heard that remark and could not help but feel like she was fishing for pandas, a smile playing at the corners of her mouth.
After Pipi and Dodo finished eating the apples, Xia Xin walked up and patted their heads. Xia Xin could cross out petting a panda in her bucket list now.
Xia Xin wore a satisfied smile.
After being patted by Xia Xin, Pipi and Dodo didn’t immediately turn and leave. Pipi suddenly hugged Xia Xin’s thigh and rubbed against it, while Dodo raised her head and shook her panda head as if inviting Xia Xin to pet her again.
Witnessing this scene, the surrounding spectators were astonished.
“Are Pipi and Dodo in a good mood today? Why are they so affectionate? Usually, they finish eating and go back to sleep without wasting a minute.”
“Could it be that pandas also like beautiful girls? Look, Dodo seems to be smiling! It’s so cute!”
The visitors, who rarely saw such intimate interaction between giant pandas and the caretakers, hurriedly took photos and recorded videos.
At that moment, Xia Xin looked at the two pandas that were pestering her and felt a little helpless. She thought it must be the Beast Language System activated its passive function again. As long as animals approached her, they would have a good impression of her and would be willing to take the initiative to approach her.
Xia Xin still had to feed Bao an apple later. Now that she was entangled by the two pandas, she could only pet the panda’s head with one hand. After five or six minutes, she forced the two pandas back into the bamboo forest. The two pandas turned and looked at Xia Xin reluctantly.
At that moment, the two security personnel patrolling by the railing observed this scene and found it quite intriguing. One of them said, “Pipi and Dodo are close to the caretaker, but they don’t usually show such exaggerated behavior. They only get excited like this when they see the apples. It seems like the girl is a new caretaker. I heard she got in through connections. I thought she would just loaf around and not do anything, but I never expected Pipi and Dodo to like her so much.”
On the other side, the red-haired girl, who was enthusiastically capturing videos and photos, watched Pipi and Dodo disappear into the bamboo forest and contentedly closed her mirrorless camera.
“We are really lucky this time. Pipi and Dodo stayed in the outdoor area longer than usual, and we even saw them being affectionate with the caretaker!” said the red-haired girl.
The red-haired girl’s boyfriend smiled and asked, “Maybe pandas like pretty girls too?”
The red-haired girl rolled her eyes and said, “Do you think pandas are as shallow as you?”
However, after her sarcastic remark, the red-haired girl could not help but open her camera and play back the recorded video. After watching it for a while, she sighed, “But that new caretaker does seem quite beautiful. Even though she’s wearing a mask, you can tell she’s a beauty just by looking at her eyes!”
Compared to men, women’s appreciation of other women was genuine and pure.
At that moment, the red-haired girl was filled with curiosity about the new caretaker. In addition, her favorite pandas seemed to have a strong liking for the new caretaker, so she looked at Xia Xin with a friendly gaze.
After Pipi and Dodo returned to the bamboo forest, many of the onlooking visitors dispersed and went to see other pandas in different enclosures or visit other animal enclosures.
Only a few people noticed Bao hiding in the corner under the railing.
When Xia Xin approached Bao, she saw its two front paws pushing a slightly dirty ball, which seemed to be losing air.
Li Li had mentioned that the ball was Bao’s favorite, and it had a strong emotional attachment to it. That was why the staff did not replace it with a new ball.
Xia Xin walked towards Bao and perhaps she was a stranger, Bao seemed a bit flustered upon noticing her. It tried to move with its front paws toward the corner while holding onto its ball, appearing nervous and unsure of what to do.
While feeding Pipi and Dodo earlier, Xia Xin could hear them happily conversing. They were two happy pandas loved by the caretakers and visitors, lively and joyful.
But Bao was completely different from them. Bao was very quiet, appearing timid and submissive. As if all it had was that dirty and worn-out ball.
They were all pandas, but their destinies were completely different.
Xia Xin felt a twinge in her nose. She slowed her steps and slowly crouched down. With a small apple in her hand, she used her gentlest voice to reassure the anxious Bao, “Bao, I’m the new caretaker, and I’m glad to meet you. Don’t be afraid, I’ve come to bring you a small apple.”
