Chapter 39
Counter Ambush
After coming out of the shop, Lin Shen looked at the two boxes of Condensing Liquid in his hands and smiled.
Although he had only bought ten liters, with the inventory he had, he would have just about enough to break through to the ninth level of the Qi Transformation Stage.
The thought of breaking through again soon made Lin Shen feel full of energy. He wished he could return home and start cultivating now.
Carrying the boxes, Lin Shen strode toward the entrance of the black street.
Ten minutes later, he had already left the black street and was about to return to the Eastern District when he suddenly stopped and narrowed his eyes.
Twenty meters away in the dark street, a man of medium height with a thin face blocked Lin Shen’s way and looked at him with a sneer.
Lin Shen narrowed his eyes and glanced back from the corner of his eye. As expected, he realized there was another figure behind him.
A man in his thirties also blocked Lin Shen’s escape route with an unfriendly expression.
“Who are you? Why are you blocking my way?”
Lin Shen asked expressionlessly. From the corner of his eye, he quietly looked around for a way out.
Dai Geng, who was at the front, seemed to have noticed Lin Shen’s slight movement and sneered.
“Stop stalling for time. There are two of us, and you’d be dreaming if you think you can escape. Be a good…”
Before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by the impatient Hao Tu.
“Cut the crap! The longer we delay, the more trouble there will be. Hurry up and take him down!”
Dai Geng pursed his lips unhappily but didn’t dare to refute. He could only vent his anger on this fellow in front of him and charge Lin Shen with a murderous aura.
Unexpectedly, Lin Shen was a step faster than him. He moved suddenly and rushed into the nearby alley like a bolt of lightning.
In the short few seconds just now, Lin Shen had observed his surroundings. The paths in front and behind were blocked by enemies that had appeared out of nowhere. The only way to escape was through the alley beside him.
Dai Geng’s expression changed slightly when seeing Lin Shen rush into the alley, but Hao Tu remained calm as he said indifferently,
“That alley is a dead end!”
Hearing this, Dai Geng heaved a sigh of relief. A cold smile appeared on his face again. Without saying a word, he chased after Lin Shen.
The alley was only about a hundred meters. The second half of the alley was a fork in the road. There was a smaller alley on both sides, but just like the main alley, those two were also dead ends.
The moment he rushed to the fork, Lin Shen acutely noticed this.
As soon as Hao Tu and Dai Geng flashed into the alley, they saw Lin Shen standing at the back of the fork in the road. He was frowning as he looked at the high wall in front of him.
“You have nowhere to go!”
Dai Geng laughed proudly and stared at Lin Shen like a cat playing with a mouse. He slowly approached the latter.
This act of toying with his prey made Hao Tu frown.
He had always been cautious. Every time he attacked, he would do his best to take out his opponent quickly and avoid unnecessary trouble.
However, it just so happened that he had a mentally twisted companion like Dai Geng, who always liked to play with his prey and took pleasure in watching his prey struggle and get terrified before death.
Suppressing his dissatisfaction, Hao Tu reminded Dai Geng.
“Be careful. This guy is very fast. He must have cultivated some kind of movement technique!”
As he spoke, Hao Tu approached Lin Shen with an expressionless face.
“Don’t worry. In such a narrow alley, no matter how good your movement technique is, it won’t be of much use!”
Dai Geng grinned hideously. He suddenly sped up as he charged toward Lin Shen like a lion pouncing on a rabbit.
Seeing this, Lin Shen took a few steps back, as if he was frightened.
However, in the next second, when Dai Geng rushed to the fork in the road, two figures suddenly rushed out of the alley on both sides and attacked Dai Geng from both sides.
Amidst the muffled sound of air being torn apart, the scorching palm force carried rolling waves as it crushed toward Dai Geng like an avalanche.
Dai Geng’s mind was completely focused on Lin Shen, who wasn’t far ahead. He didn’t expect there would be people lying in ambush on both sides. Caught off guard, he didn’t have time to dodge at all. He could only watch as the two burning red palms struck him without any fancy moves.
Thump!
Two dull slaps sounded almost at the same time.
Dai Geng’s face contorted violently. Before he could let out a miserable cry, Lin Shen, who was originally five to six meters away, had already appeared in front of him like a ghost. Under Dai Geng’s horrified gaze, Lin Shen slammed his palm heavily on Dai Geng’s chest.
With a muffled bang, Dai Geng suddenly stiffened. Then, he went limp, and the light of life in his eyes quickly disappeared. In the blink of an eye, he was dead.
This series of actions was as fast as lightning. By the time Hao Tu, who was a few steps behind, realized what had happened, Dai Geng had already died.
“Dai!”
Hao Tu’s eyes widened as he roared and charged at Lin Shen.
Lin Shen was fearless. Together with his two clones, he charged toward the enemy.
As soon as he realized the alley was a dead end, he decided to turn around and counterattack. Before the two enemies rushed into the alley, he summoned the two clones without hesitation and let them lie in ambush on both sides of the fork. Then, he pretended to be weak to lure his enemy to take the initiative to attack. Taking that opportunity, Lin Shen made the lethal strike.
Clone 3 had Pure Yang Body, and Clone 4 had Superior Martial Arts. Together with Lin Shen himself, who had also switched to Pure Yang Body, Lin Shen was confident the three of them could severely injure even a Long Breath Stage cultivator with a single move.
Fortunately for him, his enemies were clearly not Long Breath Stage cultivators.
After getting rid of one enemy, the remaining one was much easier to deal with!
After exchanging a few blows, Lin Shen already knew the enemy in front of him was only a Level Nine Qi Transformation Stage cultivator.
Even without the help of his clones, he could deal with this one alone.
Compared to Lin Shen’s relief, Hao Tu was furious.
They had thought they would be able to ambush the target easily, but in the end, not only did they fail to take down the target, but one of them was also ambushed and killed.
Looking at the three people surrounding him, Hao Tu couldn’t figure out when the twins got there.
“Is it possible they already knew Dai Geng and I were coming?
“That’s impossible!”
Hao Tu was puzzled.
However, he soon didn’t have the time to think about this problem.
His opponents were unexpectedly powerful. Their cultivation levels weren’t high, but their martial techniques were shockingly good!
The corner of Hao Tu’s eyes twitched as he looked at the faint shadow of the Blazing Sun Palm in his opponents’ movement and sensed the scorching heat wave in the air.
This was clearly a sign that someone had reached Perfection in the Blazing Sun Palm.
More importantly, there wasn’t just one person. Two of the enemies could do that!
Although the third one was slightly weaker, his Blazing Sun Palm was at least at Mastery and was only a step away from reaching Perfection!
“Damn it! Where did these three people come from?”
Hao Tu groaned inwardly.
It was rare to come across a Qi Transformation Stage cultivator who had reached Perfection in a martial technique. Now, two of them had appeared at the same time!
What was going on?
If Dai Geng was still alive, Hao Tu would definitely scold him. What kind of target had he found?
Dai Geng said the target was easy to attack, but he was clearly a tough nut to crack!
