Chapter 149 - 149 The Obedient Lian Jing
149 The Obedient Lian Jing
When Shen Nian saw her return, he immediately jumped off Lian Jing’s knee and pounced on her.
Lian Jing quietly picked up his teacup and took a sip. He did not even look at Shen Yin.
Shen Yin naturally ignored him and let Shen Nian lead her to the dining room.
Shen Nian considerately pulled out a chair for Shen Yin. “Mom, take a seat. Dad and I were waiting for you to come back to have dinner.”
Lian Jing, who was sitting on the sofa, did not move. Shen Nian had no choice but to personally drag him over.
Lian Jing let him hold his hand and lead him to the table. He thought for a moment and explained calmly, “I didn’t wait.”
Shen Yin had not noticed this minor detail. She scooped a bowl of soup for herself and Nian Nian before realizing what he was talking about. She smiled and replied, “I know.”
Lian Jing looked at the two bowls of soup on the table. There was none for him. He tightened his grip on the chopsticks and pursed his lips.
“Daddy, this is for you.” Shen Nian got up and scooped a bowl of soup for Lian Jing.
Lian Jing looked up in shock. His cold eyes suddenly thawed, and his frosty face grew gentler. “My son is still the best.”
Shen Yin smiled but did not say anything. To be fair, Lian Jing treated Shen Nian very well, so it was only right that Shen Nian repay him. Even if she was a little jealous, she would not interfere and stop him.
After drinking the soup, Lian Jing’s heart warmed up a little, and his tone became lighter. “It’s time for Nian Nian to go to school. I’ve arranged for him to go to the best school. The information about the school is already on the table in your room. If there are no problems, Nian Nian can start school next week.”
Shen Nian said proudly, “Actually, I already know a lot. I don’t need to start from the first grade.”
Shen Yin smiled and patted his head. “Don’t be arrogant. You have to get the approval of the teachers in the school before you can move to a higher grade.”
“My son is so smart. Of course, he doesn’t have to take the same route as an ordinary child.” Lian Jing said proudly.
He had not planned to get married, so he thought that he would never have his own child. He had not expected a freak combination of events had allowed him to be lucky enough to have such a perfect son.
Lian Jing subconsciously looked up at Shen Yin. He really had to thank her for this.
At some point, the three people at the dining table really became like a happy family. However, the two parents did not realize it.
Shen Nian smacked his lips as if tasting something. He quietly leaned closer to Lian Jing’s ear and tugged at Lian Jing’s collar so that the latter was forced to lean towards him. Then Shen Nian whispered something. The father and son looked at each other and smiled. They mysteriously went upstairs, leaving Shen Yin sitting alone at the table.
Shen Yin felt a little upset. She got up and returned to her room to flip through the school brochures on the table, but she did not read a single word.
Tonight, Lian Jing had behaved as he said he would that afternoon. It seemed that he was really planning to give up on her.
After all, he had said it himself. He did not have to have her. If he met someone he really liked in the future, she might be able to get rid of the Lian family completely.
Shen Yin looked at the time and stood up to check on Grandpa Lian.
The Old Master was being served by the butler and had dinner in his room. He was in good spirits and was leaning against the head of the bed, reading a book with his reading glasses on.
When he saw Shen Yin, he immediately took off his glasses and put them aside. He smiled and took Shen Yin’s hand, asking with concern, “Have you eaten?”
Shen Yin nodded. She was sincerely glad to see that the Old Master looked better, so she told him about Shen Nian going to school.
Old Master Lian smiled kindly, but his eyes filled with reluctance to part with Shen Nian. “Once Nian Nian goes to school, I’ll be alone at home.”
Shen Yin comforted him softly. “Grandpa, won’t you be able to see Nian Nian after school? Besides, I’ll be back after work. We can see each other every day!”
“You’ve agreed to move back?” Old Master Lian smiled in surprise and patted her hand. He said in relief, “That’s good. That’s good. Our family is finally reunited.”
Shen Yin chatted with Old Master Lian for a while until he looked a little tired. Then, she gently helped him lie down to rest and quietly left the room.
In the corridor, Lian Jing was leaning against the wall in a daze. When he saw her coming out, he did not approach her like before. Instead, he maintained a distance and asked, “Is Grandpa asleep?”
Shen Yin nodded. The two of them did not say anything for a moment, so she tried to walk around him and go back to her room to sleep.
But Lian Jing suddenly called out to her from behind. Seeing her stop in her tracks, he said in a low and hopeful voice, “Nian Nian said that he wants to sleep with me tonight. Is that okay?”
Shen Yin turned around and looked at him in surprise. This person was clearly Shen Nian’s biological father, and he had always been domineering. Why was he acting like an obedient pet now? He even asked her permission for a small matter?
She nodded slightly. “Sure.”
Lian Jing sighed with relief when she agreed. He turned around and happily entered Shen Nian’s room.
The child had no father since he was young. Now that he suddenly knew who his biological father was, he longed to be close to him.
She was not jealous at all.
