Chapter 1513: One Thing Leads to Another (3)
Feng Xun said, “Throw them away? Why would I do that? I gave them away.”
Feng Wu stared at him. “What did you say?”
Feng Xun said, “I gave them to someone else.”
Feng Wu stared at Feng Xun as if she was looking at a crazy person.
The look gave Feng Xun the creeps. “W- Why are you looking at me like that?”
Feng Wu gave him a “you idiot” look.
Feng Xun asked, “Huh? Why? What did I do?”
Feng Wu scratched her head. “Well…”
Feng Xun fidgeted. “Little Feng Wu, what’s wrong? Say something. Please don’t tell me that you tampered with the fish!”
Feng Wu cleared her throat. “Well, I don’t think it’s a big deal. I just sprinkled a little something on them, and it isn’t lethal. By the way, who did you give them to?”
Feng Xun said, “Jun Wuxia and her sister.”
Feng Wu said, “Well, that’s alright, then.”
Feng Xun stared at Feng Wu in resignation. “What on earth did you sprinkle on the fish?”
Feng Wu cleared her throat. “Well, it’s nothing. It was just a little tickling powder.”
Feng Xun stared at her. “Why would you do that?!”
Feng Wu cleared her throat again. “Well, I mistook it for paprika when I pulled it out of my pouch. Don’t worry, it isn’t a big deal. They may not eat the fish anyway.”
She had never liked Jun Wuxia, so she was elated by the prospect that the princess might suffer a little.
However, no matter how smart Feng Wu was, she could never have expected that Jun Wuxia would give the fish to the empress dowager.
Jun Wuxia tore the flesh off the fish, put it on an exquisite porcelain plate, and cut it into small pieces. They were glossy and looked very tempting.
“Your Majesty, there you go.” Jun Wuxia smiled and watched the empress dowager eagerly.
She stared at Jun Wuxia. “Are you sure you roasted this yourself?”
Jun Wuxia pursed her lips and nodded.
Still staring at Jun Wuxia, the empress dowager asked, “Are you sure Feng Wu didn’t roast this?”
Jun Wuxia smiled and shook her head.
“Your Majesty, she’s not the only one who can roast fish.”
The empress dowager nodded and finally decided to eat.
Granny Lan didn’t look too pleased, and she kept her stern gaze on Jun Wuxia.
“Your Majesty, Miss Feng Wu left instructions about your diet, but this fish —”
“Shut up!” The empress dowager glared at Granny Lan. “You can’t tell me what to do! Go away!”
Granny Lan was speechless.
Poor Granny Lan. Because of what happened earlier, she didn’t dare push the empress dowager too hard now. She could only watch as the old lady ate one piece after another.
She frowned as she ate. “Is this how roast fish is supposed to taste?”
Jun Wuxia nodded with a smile.
The empress dowager snorted. “It’s not that impressive at all!”
Jun Wuxia paled a little.
The empress dowager stared at her. “Or, does it taste like this because it was roasted by you?”
Jun Wuxia paled even more.
The empress dowager put the dish aside after eating three pieces. “It’s nothing special at all.”
Jun Wuxia bit her lower lip and looked unsettled.
She couldn’t understand it. Wasn’t Feng Wu supposed to be an amazing cook who had impressed the crown prince so much? Why didn’t the empress dowager like the fish? The rumor couldn’t be any more wrong!
