Chapter 1924: Extra: A Brand New Life 39 (Jiang Yue and Xue Yan)
Jiang Yue just responded with a “Mhm.”
“Haha,” Zhou Ping laughed heartily, “I’ve accepted water from girls who gave it to me!”
Xue Yan said with a smile, “Yao Xi is cursing you in the group chat for becoming a heartbreaker, is that true?”
“Don’t listen to his nonsense!” Zhou Ping said irritably. “I just couldn’t say no because they had already bought it, and I accepted each one with a dollar. I was planning to politely share it with our classmates later, and I even asked for their opinions. They will certainly understand why I had to do this. By the way, what are you guys eating for lunch? I want to have Kung Pao chicken over rice.”
“Then I’ll have fish-flavored shredded pork over rice,” Xue Yan replied. “What about you, Yue Bao?”
Jiang Yue: “I’ll have noodles with a topping.”
Xue Yan: “Add a serving of sauce duck then. I saw it at the window, and you didn’t get to eat it last time.”
“Mhm.” Jiang Yue had no objections.
“Do you want sauce duck?” Xue Yan turned to ask Zhou Ping.
“Get me a serving as well,” Zhou Ping replied.
Then, Xue Yan queued up for the sauce duck, while Zhou Ping went to buy the toppings-over-rice for him and Xue Yan. Since Jiang Yue wanted noodles with a topping, which were at another window with fewer people, she bought hers first and went to find a seat. The cafeteria had run out of soup, and after Jiang Yue sat down, she went to a window with no queue to buy three drinks. Only then did she sit down.
She placed one drink across from her to reserve a seat and put another drink beside her, effectively saving two spots for when her dear Xue Yan and Zhou Ping arrived to sit down.
The cafeteria only served sauce duck every few days, so there was a long line of people waiting for it. By the time Zhou Ping bought two orders of toppings-over-rice, Xue Yan was still in line.
Zhou Ping hadn’t yet sat down across from Jiang Yue when he saw the guy who had wanted to give her water in the morning, named Zhang Cheng, approaching her with a tray.
Zhang Cheng asked with a smile, “Is this seat taken?”
Without even lifting her eyelids, Jiang Yue said, “It’s taken.”
Zhou Ping didn’t rush over to Jiang Yue but quickly joined Xue Yan in the line, nudging him: “Look, that’s him. The one who tried to give Jiang Yue water this morning; she didn’t take it. He even knows Jiang Yue has a boyfriend like you yet he’s still pestering her.”
Xue Yan glanced over and didn’t like the look in Zhang Cheng’s eyes, before saying, “It’s fine, if he goes too far, Yue Bao will deal with him.”
“How far can someone in the same class go? It’s just that he’s so annoying, always pushing himself on her, you know. It will definitely happen again, and you’ll have to come to our school more often.”
“Mhm.”
“Then you continue queuing. Ask for extra sauce for the sauce duck; I’m going over there.”
“Alright.” Xue Yan took another glance at Zhang Cheng before turning away.
Zhang Cheng knew there were drinks on the table saving a seat, but he was just pretending to ask. Seeing Jiang Yue confirm the seats were taken and not insisting, he left quickly as the other spots at the table were already occupied. Jiang Yue didn’t look at him once from beginning to end.
Zhou Ping sat down across from Jiang Yue, placing Xue Yan’s rice dish beside her, and without rushing to eat, he took a big sip of the drink he had opened.
After a few bites, Xue Yan returned with the two servings of sauce duck, placing one beside his Yue Bao and the other next to Zhou Ping’s plate.
While doing so, he spoke to Zhou Ping, “Aren’t you planning to join the student council? With a teacher’s reference, you’ll surely get in. Then check out what clubs he has joined. If he keeps this up, get him involved in more activities, keep him too busy to bother with these things. Let me know how much money you need, and I’ll transfer it to you.”
