Chapter 1887: Chapter 1887: Extra Story: A Brand New Life 2 (Jiang Yue and Xue Yan)
Jiang Yue’s parents had no other hope but to raise two university students. They had already succeeded with one, leaving only the original host to be groomed. Therefore, their expectations for the original host’s academic performance were quite high.
However, as a small county town under City A, Yun City did not have a strong educational force. It would have been fine if it were a key high school, such as Yuncheng No. 1 Middle School or No. 2 Middle School, but No. 3 Middle School was an ordinary high school. The best students from Yuncheng No. 3 Middle School would be considered quite average in other schools, let alone the original host, who was not even the top student in No. 3 Middle School, only slightly above average, and their grades were very unstable.
They studied science, were good at math and biology, average in Chinese, but terrible in English, and often failed physics and chemistry.
The idea that being good at math means being good at physics and chemistry did not apply to the original host at all.
It was understandable why English was poor, since they had only started learning it in junior high school, at a school in the town where teachers often didn’t even speak Mandarin during classes, but dialect, including during English lessons. Other kids with better family conditions had started learning some English early and had some foundation, while the original host had just begun and naturally couldn’t keep up. Besides, other kids had tape recorders, MP3s, MP4s to listen to, while her family couldn’t afford such luxuries at the time and saved every penny. In short, the original host’s foundation in English was very weak, and whenever they managed to be among the top in No. 3 Middle School, it was largely thanks to math and biology.
But when the math and biology exams were easy and everyone scored high, they couldn’t make a difference.
What Jiang Yue didn’t expect was that this was still in country Z, and also within City A.
The last door that appeared in the space was the Orange Door, which, when opened, led to the rooftop of City No. 7 Middle School in City A. But that was City No. 7 Middle School, and this was a county town under City A called Yun City’s No. 3 Middle School.
Although City No. 7 Middle School was also an ordinary high school, that was only relative to other high schools in the city. No. 3 Middle School from Yun City certainly couldn’t compare to City No. 7 Middle School, and the original host also remembered this.
According to the original host’s memory, this world existed two to three hundred years before the apocalypse of the other world.
In the past, she and her family, Xue Yan, had discussed this place, and it seemed that there would be no apocalypse here. Otherwise, it would be just like that other apocalyptic world, which would be impossible.
So she didn’t have to worry about zombies appearing and entering an apocalypse of any sort.
The space truly had sentience. The opening of the last door meant this world, which might have been, in fact, an indication to her and her family, Xue Yan, that after their death in Da Ling, they would come to this world.
Thinking this way, Jiang Yue felt happy.
Did this mean she could still go to Da Ling through the space? Wasn’t that a chance to check on the younger generations back in the Da Ling family home? Even if she didn’t appear before them, just to look would be nice.
Then, Jiang Yue wanted to try it.
But she immediately discovered that although the space was still in her consciousness and she could feel it, she couldn’t enter it no matter what, let alone access the high-tech room within the space, open any doors, or travel to other worlds.
The space seemed to have sealed itself off.
Yet, it was still there…
Jiang Yue didn’t ponder for long before she understood.
She and her family, Xue Yan, had already died in Da Ling, and Da Ling no longer needed them. Unlike before, when the apocalypse needed them, and they could go back to the apocalyptic world, now Da Ling, and even the other worlds accessible through doors in the space, no longer required them. Thus, the space was sealed, preventing them from opening the doors.
