Book 07 Chapter 174: We Like to Eat Our Prey Alive
The emperor’s study, Xuanyuan City, Huang Heavenly Dynasty:
Ji Dihong fixed his gaze on the distant Chiyou City, his expression dark and brooding.
A group of ministers stood behind him, including Cangjie, who used a technique to project the scene at Chiyou City for everyone to see.
As they observed the projected scene, a sense of gravity filled the air, and their faces turned serious.
At the back of the officials, Mister Starless narrowed his eyes, pondering to himself, So, Fengbo has been concealing his true strength as a consummate Upper Heavenly Palace Realm expert all this time? The Yan Heavenly Dynasty has more hidden strength than meets the eye. Besides Cangjie, could there be other officials feigning a lower cultivation level while secretly possessing a consummate Upper Heavenly Palace Realm cultivation?
Mister Starless discreetly scrutinized the officials, but none of those serving under Ji Dihong were ordinary. It was impossible to discern any hints in a short time.
“How excellent of the world devouring branch of inheritance! Unfortunately for Chiyou, he can’t escape the five consummate Upper Heavenly Palace Realm experts coming his way, even with his extraordinary methods!” Emperor Kong sneered.
“Huh? Shangguan Hen and Gu Han? Did the Silken Web Heavenly Demon fail in their attack on Borderless Heavenly Capital?” Limu’s face darkened.
Ji Dihong turned his gaze towards the tranquil Borderless Heavenly Capital in the north. Indeed, there was no sign of turmoil.
“The Heavenly Demon Holy Land is truly unreliable!” Ji Dihong commented coldly.
The group observed the images projected by Cangjie.
“Hou Yi and Xingtian? The Yan Heavenly Dynasty also dispatched reinforcements. They were unsealed? Chiyou broke their seals?” Emperor Kong’s eyes widened with surprise.
“Prime Xiong You and the others are in trouble!” Cangjie said solemnly.
Ji Dihong’s face grew even darker as he stared intently into the distance.
A monumental battle was about to erupt. Chiyou was now bolstered by four consummate Upper Heavenly Palace Realm experts, their combined power at the pinnacle. Even with five formidable opponents emanating ferocious auras, he remained undaunted.
------
Chiyou City:
Chiyou waggled his head from side to side, his lips curling in a wicked smile. “Alright, one person each. Keep them engaged while we go for the kill!”
With a sinister laugh, Chiyou ascended into the sky alongside Shangguan Hen, Gu Han, and Xingtian.
“I’ll take care of you, Ao Ying!” Shangguan Hen’s body flared with golden light as he charged towards Ao Ying.
“Shangguan Hen? Do you think you’re as powerful as Senior Wu? Don’t overestimate yourself!” Ao Ying glared as he thrust his fist forward.
“Roar!”
When Ao Ying punched, a dragon roar rang out in the sky; his attack looked like an azure dragon claw swiping down. Shangguan Hen scowled ferociously, his fist shimmering with dazzling golden light.
Boom!
Their fists collided, causing space to shatter into countless fragments.
Shangguan Hen and Ao Ying staggered back, neither gaining the upper hand.
“Not bad, you’ve got some skills. Come at me again!” Ao Ying’s eyes narrowed, and he lunged forward once more.
Without hesitation, Shangguan Hen met his challenge head-on, and they clashed with a thunderous report.
Meanwhile, Gu Han arrived at the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon’s location.
“After receiving the guidance of Vairocana these past few days, I have comprehended the Buddhist Nation in Hand. Let’s see what you’ve got, Fire Toad Heavenly Demon!” Gu Han’s voice resonated with determination.
“Number Seven? You’re not even on par with Number Six, yet you dare to fight me? You’re seeking death!” the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon snorted and threw a powerful palm strike.
Their palms collided in midair.
Boom!
The impact shattered space on a similar scale to Shangguan Hen and Ao Ying’s clash. Despite Gu Han’s breakthrough, he was still no match for the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon. The Fire Toad Heavenly Demon lived up to being the fifth-ranked peak master; Gu Han was forced back over three hundred meters.
However, Gu Han’s purpose was not to defeat Fire Toad Heavenly Demon but to keep him occupied.
He launched another assault, repeatedly clashing palms with the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon. The swastika behind him illuminated the surroundings, and the air resounded with Buddhist chanting. Gu Han’s beneficence golden body had grown significantly stronger, enabling him to withstand attacks better.
Holding a battle ax and giant shield, Xingtian charged Xiong You.
“Xingtian, we were once comrades!” Xiong You met Xingtian’s shield bash with a forceful palm strike.
Boom!
The giant shield halted, but space shattered around it.
“Comrades? Hmph, Xiong You, we were no longer comrades from the moment you betrayed the former emperor!” Xingtian swung his ax down with thunderous force.
Xiong You retaliated with a palm strike upwards.
Boom!
The ax sent Xiong You flying.
“The might of the bear, with limitless strength? That’s how the former emperor praised you. However, it now seems rather lackluster. Die!” Xingtian’s eyes narrowed as he struck down once again.
Boom!
Xiong You went flying once more.
Xingtian pressed forward relentlessly, giving no quarter, reducing Xiong You to utter desperation.
Meanwhile, Hou Yi, who had remained on the ground, swiftly drew a divine arrow from his quiver, nocked it on his bowstring, and fixed his icy gaze on Fengbo, who stood not far away.
Creak!
Hou Yi slowly pulled the bowstring, forming a circle. The divine arrow emitted a purple glow, ready to be unleashed. Hou Yi’s expression turned distant as he aimed directly at Fengbo.
Fengbo, also in the consummation of the Upper Heavenly Palace Realm, was comparable to Xiong You and Ao Ying in strength. However, being targeted by Hou Yi made him feel like he was facing a formidable adversary; beads of cold sweat formed on his forehead.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Fengbo summoned winds from all directions and set them blowing continuously around himself, hoping to divert Hou Yi’s divine arrow.
“Hou Yi, we were once comrades!” Fengbo shouted.
“If you don’t make a move, I won’t release my arrow. But the moment you do, it will find its mark!” Hou Yi’s voice remained calm and composed.
Out of consideration for their former camaraderie, Hou Yi refrained from immediately firing. However, with his emperor’s command, he could not afford to remain idle, either. Since he did not wish to take lives, he chose to restrain one person instead.
Perhaps harboring a deep fear of Hou Yi’s arrows, Fengbo decided not to make a move.
In this chaotic battlefield, maintaining stillness carried both tremendous danger and a sense of helplessness.
------
Borderless Heavenly Capital:
A crease formed on Gu Hai’s forehead. “Hou Yi? Are his arrows truly that formidable? To think Fengbo dare not make a move?”
“Archer God Marquis Hou Yi is the strongest in the archery Dao. Rumor has it that he was the person Long Zhanguo wanted to recruit the most,” the Unborn Man said seriously.
The strongest in the archery Dao? Gu Hai showed a solemn expression.
------
Chiyou City:
The battle raged on, with Shangguan Hen, Gu Han, Hou Yi, and Xingtian successfully engaging Ao Ying, the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon, Fengbo, and Xiong You, respectively.
Now, only Chiyou and the Electric Eel Heavenly Demon remained.
With a wintry smile, Chiyou locked his gaze on the Electric Eel Heavenly Demon.
The Electric Eel Heavenly Demon’s face paled in fright.
“Why...why did you leave Chiyou to me?” the Electric Eel Heavenly Demon cried out in alarm.
In the blink of an eye, Chiyou took a step forward, moving so swiftly that no one could follow. He appeared behind the Electric Eel Heavenly Demon, catching him off-guard.
“What?” The Electric Eel Heavenly Demon’s face changed, and he swiftly struck out with a palm towards Chiyou.
However, Chiyou made no attempt to resist.
The Electric Eel Heavenly Demon’s palms landed on Chiyou’s chest with tremendous force.
Boom! Boom!
The powerful impact left the Electric Eel Heavenly Demon not joyous but terrified. Chiyou’s body proved to be incredibly tough, like an impregnable fortress; he had not even quivered.
Realizing his attacks were futile, the Electric Eel Heavenly Demon wanted to retreat, but he was too late.
“Leaving so soon after hitting us? It’s not that easy!” Chiyou sneered.
Chiyou grabbed the Electric Eel Heavenly Demon’s shoulder with one hand and firmly clasped the head with the other with immense strength. His fingers dug into the Electric Eel Heavenly Demon’s skull, opening five bloody holes.
“Argh! Argh! Argh! Number Five, save me! Save me!” the Electric Eel Heavenly Demon screamed in agony.
In desperation, the Electric Eel Heavenly Demon pounded Chiyou’s unyielding body while screaming, but his efforts were in vain. Chiyou remained unshaken.
Meanwhile, the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon, who was suppressing Gu Han, turned his head upon hearing the Electric Eel Heavenly Demon’s cries for help.
“Number Ten!” the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon exclaimed in shock.
However, his attention quickly shifted to Chiyou, who wore a sinister smile. Chiyou’s arms swelled with bulging muscles.
Bang!
In one swift motion, Chiyou twisted the Electric Eel Heavenly Demon’s head off his neck.
As the head separated from the body, blood spurted in all directions.
Bang!
The Electric Eel Heavenly Demon instantly transformed into a colossal electric eel spirit. Even so, it still had not died, a look of disbelief lingering on its severed head.
“You want to run before our brothers have eaten their fill? It’s not time yet!” Chiyou sneered.
With a sinister smile, he hurled the two parts of the electric eel spirit toward the eighty-one giants.
“Brothers, feast on the fish!” Chiyou ordered coldly.
“Understood, Eldest Brother!” The giants swarmed in eagerly to devour the electric eel spirit, their appetite insatiable.
Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!
“Number Ten! How dare you?! Stop!” the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon yelled in panic.
Whoosh!
Chiyou suddenly turned his head, revealing a menacing expression.
The Fire Toad Heavenly Demon was taken aback, feeling like he faced a formidable foe.
“Fire Toad Heavenly Demon? Despite your rather unsightly appearance, we assume you are great nourishment, aren’t you?” Chiyou laughed boisterously.
Whoosh!
Chiyou appeared before the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon in the blink of an eye.
The Fire Toad Heavenly Demon knocked Gu Han aside with a palm strike, but his expression changed when he saw Chiyou.
“Weren’t you planning to kill us? Well, here we are, right in front of you. Let’s see what you’re capable of!” Chiyou lunged at the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon.
“Little Nephew Gu Han, leave this to us. Go!” Chiyou commanded Gu Han.
“Yes!” Gu Han promptly responded.
The Fire Toad Heavenly Demon sensed impending doom. With a wave of his hand, a blazing inferno surged forth, enveloping Chiyou and himself in a pale greenish-red fire.
“Nine Li Imperial Emperor, be careful. This fire is infused with fire toad venom, one of the most potent poisons in the world!” Gu Han warned as he retreated.
Within the raging inferno, Chiyou laughed, “Poison? Fire? Hahaha! We are impervious to water and fire, invincible against all poisons!”
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Chiyou battled the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon within a sea of poisonous flames to the accompaniment of thunderous explosions.
“What? No, Chiyou, the Heavenly Demon Holy Land has records of you, but they did not portray you as this formidable. You shouldn’t... Argh!” the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon suddenly screamed in shock.
“Records? They are nothing but worthless paper. Did you actually believe them? Hahahahaha!” Chiyou guffawed.
“Fire toad divine poison! Corrode the sky and rot the ground!” The Fire Toad Heavenly Demon’s terrified cries rang out from the inferno.
Boom!
The pale green light suddenly intensified, overwhelming the fiery red color. The flames transformed into a vibrant shade of green.
The surroundings sizzled, consumed by the inferno; even space was being corroded.
“Fire toad divine poison? Do you know why we are impervious to all poisons? It’s because we cultivate world devouring. Nothing escapes our appetite, not even poison. All poisons become our nourishment. Hahahahaha!” Chiyou’s laughter echoed through the air.
Whoosh!
A gust of wind rushed in, and the swirling green flames flickered and shrank rapidly. It was actually Chiyou ingesting the flames into his stomach, exposing the empty space in front.
Fengbo’s, Xiong You’s, and Ao Ying’s expressions turned grave.
They saw Chiyou firmly gripping the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon’s face with one hand, two fingers stabbed into the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon’s eyes, and his other three clawing three bloody holes in the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon’s face. Chiyou’s other hand clutched the demon’s right leg, creating five additional bloody wounds.
The Fire Toad Heavenly Demon unleashed a flurry of strikes on Chiyou—to no avail. His attacks couldn’t even shake Chiyou’s body.
“No, no, you can’t kill me! If you dare, our lord will never spare you!” the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon screamed in terror.
“Don’t worry. We won’t kill you!” Chiyou sneered.
“What?” the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon exclaimed in surprise.
He is not going to kill me?
“We like to eat our prey alive!” Chiyou’s voice was chilling as he grinned sinisterly.
Eat prey alive?
A frisson of fear ran down the spines of not only the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon but also Fengbo and the others at Chiyou’s words.
In a swift motion, Chiyou spread his arms wide.
Snap!
Chiyou snapped the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon into two at the waist.
“Argh!”
The Fire Toad Heavenly Demon let out an agonized scream that seemed to transcend space. The pain of being torn apart at the waist seemed to resonate with everyone present.
However, Chiyou’s figure suddenly expanded to a height of ten meters, revealing a bloodcurdling mouth filled with razor-sharp fangs; in a single chomp, he devoured the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon whole.
When Kong Xuan consumed his prey, he swallowed them whole into his stomach. However, when prey entered Chiyou’s mouth, his teeth crunched down.
Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!
Chiyou chewed the Fire Toad Heavenly Demon to pieces before swallowing.
A consummate Upper Heavenly Palace Realm cultivator was devoured alive in such a manner?
The chilling sound of his chewing sent shivers down the spines of the remaining consummate Upper Heavenly Palace Realm cultivators.
One of the ancient shaman race’s five main branches of inheritance? World devouring? This was simply horrific.
Having finished his gruesome feast, Chiyou abruptly turned his head towards the remaining adversaries: Ao Ying, Xiong You, and Fengbo. A faint smile adorned Chiyou’s face.
This innocuous-looking smile made the three of them feel like the most sinister and fearsome demon was approaching them.
