The same profession would be different when it was talked about by others. For example, Wang Yao planting herbs was seen as just a lowly farmer at home by Yang Ming. If it was said by Tong Wei, on the other hand, it was deemed as cultivation.
“Yes. I just do it by myself,” Wang Yao said with a smile.
“You must remember to treat me when you become a boss!” Tong Wei said.
“I will.” Wang Yao continued to smile.
The two of them chatted for a while and exchanged contact information with each other. Then, Tong Wei said goodbye and left.
“Young man, was that your classmate?” Chen Kun asked curiously.
“Yep, why?”
“She looks so beautiful. Is she still available?”
“I don’t know.”
“So, you should hurry up and ask her. You should take action quickly if she is still available!” Chen Kun smiled.
Wang Yao just laughed when he listened to those words.
“Stop laughing. Young man, I can read someone’s status. She has good luck and she seems to be unique and wealthy. It would be a good thing to marry her.” Chen Kun spoke with so much determination it seemed to be true.
“Stop kidding around. Thank you for your advice though. These chestnuts are for you.” Wang Yao gave the rest of the chestnuts to Chen Kun.
“Ah. You must believe in me. I don’t tell this to people who are not my friends!”
“Okay, thank you. I am ready to go home. See you next time.”
“Ah, you….”
Having packed up his things, Wang Yao rode his motorbike and left to go to the nearby medicine shop. Then, he bought the Chinese medicine according to the prescription that he had given out before. He also bought a large heavy container with a lid exclusively to boil Chinese herbs.
When he went back home, he changed the percentage of these medicine formula according to the description in Invaluable Prescriptions for Ready Reference. Then, he boiled all of them in the container and the herbs were mixed together to form a dark, over burnt liquid. The room was filled with a strange and pungent air.
“Yao, what are you doing?” Zhang Xiuying who entered the room from outside smelled the pungent air, so she rushed to the kitchen. Wang Yao was staring at his dark black mixture of burnt herbs.
“Fail!” Wang Yao sighed.
“What are you doing?” Zhang Xiuying asked.
“It’s fine, Mom. I’m doing an experiment.” Wang Yao stood up to pour the failed liquid into the garbage can in the yard.
“You should not tinker with things. Look, now the whole house is so smelly.”
Wang Yao replied but he decided to keep testing. There was just one month left; he would near dead if he could not finish the mission.
…
At night, all was quiet except for one cackling hen in Wang Yao’s yard.
“What’s going on? Is there someone there?!”
Wang Yao turned on the light and entered the yard. Suddenly, he was shocked by what he saw. The hen took a couple wobbly steps that almost resembled a catwalk. It shook its head on the third step and it shook its tail on the fourth.
“What the hell? Did it become a monster?!”
“What is that hen doing? Square dancing?” Wang Yao’s mother went out with her coat on.
The hen continued to cackle as it casually catwalked around.
“Does it deliver eggs?”
“Have you ever seen a hen walk around like that when it was about to lay an egg? Did it eat something bad?” Zhang Xiuying said.
“Eat something bad?” Wang Yao went to the garbage can to check with his flashlight. The leftovers of the medicinal herbs he made earlier were clearly eaten by the hen.
“Did it eat the leftovers of those herbs?”
The hen stopped cackling in the yard after an hour.
“System, is the formula an original of mine?” Wang Yao asked.
No.
“Why?” He looked at the word on the screen confusingly.
Medicine cures and strengthens the body. Several words were written on the screen.
“What do you mean?” Wang Yao was confused for a before he came to a realization. The concoction he modified according to Invaluable Prescriptions for Ready Reference could not cure diseases. Rather, there were adverse effects according to the situation of the hen.
It was so difficult to make a unique formula!
The next day, Wang Yao went back home when he had finished working in the herbal field. Then, he purchased some books online. The books were mainly related to the knowledge of Chinese medicine and some theories of traditional Chinese medicine. He had to find some inspiration from these documents.
During the daytime, Wang Yao still tried to create his formula, so the house was filled with the air of Chinese medicine. Finally, he had no choice but to move to the house on the hill to carry on experimentation.
Three days later, the books that he purchased had been delivered to his home. He read through them carefully in hopes of finding a solution. The process of learning and experimenting spanned over a couple of days. During this time, Wang Yao had wasted so many herbs and he still couldn’t fulfill the mission.
“I’m headed in the wrong direction!”
That afternoon, Wang Yao left his room and thought about how to approach his problem. Before, the seeds that he planted had started to bud and grow only within a couple of days. With the help of the ancient spring water, the growth was phenomenal. What surprised him the most was that there were already leaves sprouting from the antidote herbs, and he had planted those the earliest. There were three leaves in one strain and they were in the shape of a heart.
“I’m confused on how to use the licorice roots according to what the system said.”
…
Lianshan County, a First Aid Center in People’s Hospital.
“Get out of the way. Get out of the way!”
The emergency personnel team rushed by with a stretcher. There was a young man on the gurney and his face was an unusual dark red color. He looked like he was burning up.
“Heart rate?”
“145!”
“BP?”
“120/180!”
“Inject lidocaine, 5 milliliters.”
There was a group of medical staff leading in front and a frantic family quickly followed behind them. Soon, they were separated by a door.
“What happened to Xiaozi?”
“I don’t know. We were having fun on the hill, but then he started screaming suddenly. Then he dropped to the ground and his body was twitching. Soon, he got dizzy and that’s when we called 120.”
“What’s wrong? What’s going on?” a woman in her forties asked anxiously. The man they rushed into the emergency room was her only son.
“Aunt, don’t you worry about him. We should trust the doctor,” a young man persuaded her kindly.
Time flew by and the family waited anxiously outside. Finally, the door opened and a doctor walked out.
“Doctor, what’s wrong with my son?” The woman rushed up to the doctor.
“We did our best, but our efforts were still ineffective. I advise you to prepare for the worst.”
“What!?” the woman exclaimed in shock before falling to the floor and crying. “My son!”
“Aunt, you should be calm,” one family member said.
