Chapter 1699 End of the First Trial

Chapter 1699  End of the First Trial

After hearing Ling Wu Qing's confirmation that Long Yejun had matched up against her and lost, Yuan tightly clenched his fists.

Long Wu Qing paid attention to every little detail and asked, "Are you angry at me for killing him?"

Yuan closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath before responding calmly, "No, I am not."

"Oh?" Long Wu Qing looked genuinely surprised by his answer.

She knew humans were emotional beings who are often led astray by their emotions, causing them to do unreasonable things.

"My, my. You're surprisingly calm. Totally not what I expected."

Yuan raised an eyebrow and responded, "Were you expecting me to lash out at you for doing something I would've done myself if I had been matched with him?"

He had prepared to kill Long Yejun if they fought, after all. It would be unreasonable for him to be angry at Long Wu Qing for doing what she has to do.

Everyone who participated in the Dragon God Festival accepted and agreed to such a risk before they grabbed the token so they couldn't complain about being killed.

"I like you even more now. But that doesn't mean I will go easy on you later," Long Wu Qing said with a smile.

Yuan smiled back and said, "I may not blame you, but I am still going to vent my anger on you, so I apologize in advance."

"I thought you weren't angry?" she raised an eyebrow.

"Not at you, specifically. Just in general," he clarified.

"But you're going to take it out on me?" Long Wu Qing chuckled.

"If anyone could deal with my anger, it'd be you."

"I guess that's fine since it'll make things more entertaining," she nodded with an understanding expression.

After a few more days, Long Meihui defeated her opponent and returned to the Divine Dragon Sanctuary. When she first heard the news of Long Yejun's death, she didn't believe it. However, after she found Long Wu Qing and confirmed Long Yejun's death, Long Meihui broke down in tears.

"Waaaaah! This is why I didn't want to participate! Why would the Dragon God do this—let his own descendants die?!" she cried out loud.

"Stop exaggerating. It's not like he's gone forever." Long Wu Qing shook her head.

"As a matter of fact, this isn't his first time dying," she suddenly revealed.

"I know that, but it could potentially be millions of years before I see him again!"

"What's a few million years to beings like us?" Long Wu Qing sighed.

"That's not the point!" Long Meihui screamed.

"Huh? Who the hell do you think you are raising your voice at?" Long Wu Qing glared at her with narrowed eyes.

"S-sorry…" Long Meihui immediately shrunk her body, looking like a timid rabbit.

"Hmph." Long Wu Qing sneered.

Long Meihui withdrew to Yuan's side and asked him, "Are you okay?"

"I am upset about Brother Yejun's death, but this is the result if you lose."

Long Meihui sighed, "I hope he reincarnates soon. I don't think I can handle being alone with my older sister. She's too scary."

Yuan pondered for a moment before asking, "How long does it usually take for one to reincarnate?"

"It depends on factors I am unfamiliar with. He could immediately reincarnate, or it could take hundreds of millions of years," she answered.

"I see. I hope he reincarnates sooner than later."

After a brief moment of silence, Yuan spoke again, "One more thing. Will he remember memories of his past life?"

"I can't say for sure. There's a chance he might reincarnate without his memories, but I'm sure they will still be deep within his consciousness and eventually resurface."

"Thank you."

They proceeded to spectate the other ongoing fights for the remainder of the month.

Long Wu Qing approached Yuan again a few days later.

"Hey, do you have any more of those skewers?" she asked him without any shame or hesitation in her voice.

"You still have an appetite after everything that happened?" Yuan looked at her with a look of disbelief.

"Why not?" she responded in an unfazed manner.

Yuan couldn't help but admire her carefree nature. It was as if nothing in this world could truly bother her.

"So, do you have any or not? Or are you going to refuse because I killed Long Yejun? Don't be so petty," she continued.

He sighed, "I do have some, but I am running low on supply, so I cannot give them out so casually."

"Sounds like an excuse to me," she muttered with a displeased look.

However, Yuan wasn't lying because he was being petty. He was really running low on meat skewers.

He had a chance to replenish his supply when he returned to Earth, but he couldn't bring them back through the system and had to rely on Yingzi, who was capable of bypassing the system and bringing whatever she wanted back with her.

That said, Yingzi had managed to acquire a tremendous amount of meat skewers. During her food tour, she bought out the entire stock of every single stall she encountered. Of course, it was done using Yuan's money.

'Yingzi has plenty of meat skewers, but I doubt she'd be willing to share them.' Yuan smiled inwardly. He also had no authority to make her share them, even if it was purchased with his money.

"If you give me some, I'll share Long Yejun's final words with you," Long Wu Qing suddenly bargained.

Yuan raised an eyebrow at her words.

"His final words…?" he muttered.

"Alright."

Yuan retrieved a handful of meat skewers and handed them to Long Wu Qing, who immediately repeated Long Yejun's final words to him. Word for word.

"I see…" A warm smile appeared on Yuan's face after hearing it.

As the end of the first trial approached, more and more participants returned to the Divine Dragon Sanctuary. However, there were still plenty of matches that seemed far from being concluded.

Once the time limit had been reached, all of the secluded dimensions were forcefully closed, crushing anyone who remained inside them without any warning.
