Absolute Resonance

Chapter 1125: Crossing The Swamp

Chapter 1125: Crossing The Swamp

"Light resonant energy?!" Everyone was surprised as they looked at the light resonant energy gathered on Li Luo's fingertips.

Even Yue Zhiyu from the Hallowed Coruscation Ancient College was astonished to see this. Who would have expected Li Luo to possess a light resonance too?

According to her intel, Li Luo was a triple resonance user with water, wood, and dragon resonances. How had a light resonance appeared out of nowhere?

"Li Luo, h-how many resonances do you possess?!" Lu Ming was the first to exclaim in surprise. Back in the Holy Grail Meet, Li Luo was just a dual resonance user like her. In a year's time, he had suddenly become a triple resonance user. And now he had a light resonance too?!

Was obtaining new resonances that easy?

It was shocking enough that he had triple resonances. What kind of monster had four resonances? Moreover, Li Luo had not even reached the Duke Stage!

Feng Lingyuan's eyes twitched a little as she looked at the light resonant energy on Li Luo's fingertips. During the battles she had watched, she had faintly noticed something different about Li Luo's resonant power. It appeared pretty complex, as if there was something more than just the triple resonances that he had shown.

However, Li Luo had not specifically revealed these strengths in the past. It was shocking enough that he had triple resonances, so most people did not think about him having even more resonances.

Nonetheless, it was clear from the light resonant energy he had summoned. The divine power was slightly weaker, as if it paled in comparison to the others' light resonant power.

"Your light resonance is... a secondary resonance?" Feng Lingyuan asked in surprise.

Li Luo did not hide it from her. He nodded and explained with a smile, "Great perception, Senior Lingyuan. My light resonance is just a secondary resonance. We'll have to make do with this for now."

The others heaved sighs of relief when they heard this. So, it was just a secondary resonance. A secondary resonance could be gained using rare and precious treasures. Although such treasures were fought over by the various powers, it was not totally impossible, considering Li Luo's background.

Nonetheless, they knew that a secondary resonance was still considered yet another type of resonance. It was not as shocking as having a fourth resonance, but it was sufficient to provide him with greater flexibility and options to use in battle.

Besides, Li Luo was already a triple resonance user. With the addition of a secondary resonance... It was no wonder he was able to defeat opponents at higher levels than himself. The foundation of his resonant power was far superior than that of any ordinary fighter on his level.

Everyone looked at Li Luo with complex expressions. Triple resonances with a secondary resonance. This was so rare that it was probably was not at all inferior to a ninth-grade resonance. The Hallowed Coruscation Ancient College students that were originally jealous of Li Luo, thinking that he had gotten Jiang Qing'e's affection because of his family background, could no longer ignore his exceptional talent when slapped directly in the face with it.

Wei Chonglou's eyes had also paused around the light resonant energy on Li Luo's fingertips. A dark light flashed past the depths of his eyes, but his face did not reveal any emotions. He simply said, "Since Li Luo also has a light resonance, I believe your side has enough to cross the swamp."

"It's still not enough. Would it be possible to lend us someone?" Deng Changbai quickly responded.

Li Luo's light resonance was ultimately a secondary resonance. Besides, they only had four students with light resonances now. The strongest amongst them was a lower eighth-grade light resonance at the True Seal-grade. This was weaker than most stuednts from the Hallowed Coruscation Ancient College.

The other side had Yue Zhiyu, a lower ninth-grade light resonance at the Greater Heavenly Resonance Tier. With her by their side, they would surely feel more secure.

"I'm sorry, but we have to look after ourselves too." Wei Chonglou turned him down without a second thought. Many students from the Hallowed Coruscation Ancient College agreed with him. After all, the swamp was truly strange and terrifying, and only the lanterns lit by light resonance could offer them some form of protection. If Wei Chonglou chose to give their light resonance users away so casually, he would be frowned upon by his own allies.

"Let's go," Wei Chonglou said as he looked over to Yue Zhiyu.

Yue Zhiyu retracted her gaze from Li Luo. She did not say anything further. With the human skin lantern in her hand, she stepped onto the water and walked off.

The light radiated from her lantern, chasing away the thick, white mist and peculiar shadows underneath the pitch black water.

The other students from the Hallowed Coruscation Ancient College followed after her in a hurry. The students who possessed light resonances also had lanterns and spread themselves out across the various teams in all directions. Each one glowed brightly, trying to cover all the teams in the light to the best of their ability.

It was indeed a little overwhelming when one thought about it.

Feng Lingyuan hesitated for a moment as she watched the teams from the Hallowed Coruscation Ancient College make their way across the water. "Let's move out too. Zhou Yao, you will walk in front. I will stay close and protect you," she ordered.

Zhou Yao had a lower eighth-grade light resonance, the highest grade amongst their teams. As a student in the Lower Hall of the Heavenly Star Hall, she was a True Seal-grade.

Her personality was more introverted and timid. Therefore, she usually kept a low profile and did not attract much attention. She grew slightly nervous and scared when she heard Feng Lingyuan's order. However, she could no longer hide in the shadows like she had done all along. As the strongest light resonance user in the team, she had to lead the way. Gritting her teeth, she stepped onto the water tentatively as her tiny hands gripping the human skin lantern.

The other teams followed after her swiftly. As they did not have many light resonance users, they had to stick very close to each other to ensure everyone was protected. Their nervous and anxious breaths could be felt due to their sheer proximity..

After all, the swamp seemed as deep as an endless valley, and it truly sent chills up one's spine.

Li Luo was also holding onto a lantern. He summoned up his light resonant energy, and strands of holy power flowed into the lantern, interweaving with the Other's energy. Like pouring cold water over a boiling pot, sizzling and screams could be heard when the strange glow spread.

The pitch black water under their feet began to clear up.

However, the glow from Li Luo's lantern was only a few feet wide. He could protect those closest to him, but it was clearly dimmer than the lanterns being powered by Zhou Yao and the others. As expected, there was a massive gap when compared to the one being emitted by Yue Zhiyu. Hers was so bright that it was like a raging wild flame in the pitch darkness.

Li Luo could not help but think about Jiang Qing'e at this moment. If she were around, her dual light resonances would surely be so bright that she could protect everyone with her shine alone. The divine power from the light resonance indeed held a great advantage against Others.

"Follow me closely," Li Luo told Lu Ming, Jing Taixu, and Sun Dasheng.

This was an extremely dangerous place for Three Star Hall students from sage colleges like them. They did not have the strength to fend for themselves, yet they were too precious for the team to abandon. If they encountered a fierce battle, their support as energy batteries could be the deciding factor between victory and defeat.

The three of them understood the situation as well, so they nodded solemnly. After seeing the mission from the ancient college, it seemed like their previous missions into the Umbra Cave was not at all worth mentioning.

They could not help but feel like the distance between themselves and Li Luo was growing bigger and bigger. Although they were all of the same age, Li Luo did not need anyone to protect him here. In fact, he was even able to protect others.

While their hearts were filled with complex feelings, everyone had stepped onto the pitch black water. Strange whispers echoed in the thick mist, trying to incite fear into their hearts.

"Let's go!"

Along with the call from Feng Lingyuan, the teams moved forward. The divine glow from the four lanterns shielded them and tore the mist apart. Everyone gradually made their way deeper into the black swamp.

Countless white shadows rushed out of the way under the black water. A pair of strange eyes watched intently as the people made their way across.

At this moment, silhouettes that were carrying coffins appeared on the other side of the black swamp. A crimson flash surfaced in their eyes as they stared at the crowd making their way across.

A figure who carried a blood-red coffin laughed out viciously. "It seems we can make use of this swamp and give our precious ones some appetizers to feast upon."

When he finished speaking, the person walked towards the swamp and slowly sank into it.

Countless Others wriggled around him as his body submerged into the swamp. At this point, a strange shriek came from the blood coffin on his back. The cover rattled, and a blood-red substance extended out of the cracks.

When the Others heard this, they scattered away in a hurry.

The one with the blood coffin led the ones with black coffins deeper into the black swamp.

The direction that they were heading towards was exactly where the teams from the two colleges were.
