Xia Ling said, “I know.” She also remembered what happened in the past. She picked up a small cat from the studio which liked to crawl on the bed in the middle of the night to sleep. Pei Ziheng condemned it as he felt that it was annoying and dirty. A few days later, he sent it away.

She did not want Hairball to share the same fate as it.

“I’ll leave Luo Luo to take care of it,” she said lightly. “Besides, Luo Luo also likes pets.” If she left it here, she probably would still be able to look at it from time to time. If she brought it back and Pei Ziheng sent it away, she would never see it again.

She got up, found pen and paper, and left a note for Luo Luo.

The general message was that she had left and had taken her items. Hairball would be left behind, and she hoped that she would take good care of it. If she did not want to take care of it, she could give it to Skyart Entertainment staff members and ask them to give it to Li Lei.

After she finished writing the letter, she looked at the apartment wistfully.

“Let’s go,” she said coldly to Chu Chen. She carried two large cardboard boxes and left the apartment.

Chu Chen sent her home. He watched as Nanny Zhou welcomed her back and took the boxes from her hands. After ensuring that everything was settled, he left.

He called Pei Ziheng.

He gave a detailed report about what happened and told him everything that she brought back from the apartment. In the end, he added, “When Miss Ye was packing in her room, she did not let me go in.”

He walked in and realized that the luxurious big bed was empty.

He could not help but frown. Where was she? He scanned the bedroom. Soon, he found her petite figure curled up on the carpet by the window. Her body was covered in a few old clothes, and she was not sleeping very well.

Why was she sleeping there?

Pei Ziheng frowned even harder. He walked towards her and bent over as he wanted to carry her to the bed. Unexpectedly, he saw that her hand was placed on her chest and she seemed to be holding something. In the faint night light, the silver-white item shimmered.

He pulled her hand open and stretched out her fingers which were tightly clutching the item. In the palm of her hand, there was a small platinum ring pendant which was polished very well. It looked well maintained, and he guessed that she usually took great care of it.

Pei Ziheng’s expression darkened, and he took the ring from her hand.

He held the ring against the faint night light and looked carefully at the inner section of the ring. Sure enough, in the usual lettering position, two letters were engraved in an elegant cursive font. There was the first letter of her surname and Li Lei’s.

He clenched his fist and lowered his head to look at her.

Xia Ling, who was fast asleep, only felt a little cold and moved uncomfortably.

She subconsciously tightened her fingers and brought them closer to her chest. However, she felt that something was missing in the palm of her hand. Thus, she woke up. In a daze, she opened her eyes and saw…

In an instant, Xia Ling felt that her breathing stopped.

Pei Ziheng’s hand clenched into a fist and slowly squeezed the platinum ring pendant in his hand. He used a lot of force, and it was as if he wanted to crush it into dust. Pei Ziheng looked at her ominously. “This isn’t something you should keep.”

“It’s mine.” Her voice was still shivering like small prey facing a vicious tiger. Her entire body was consumed with endless fear and pressure. However, she held her head high and was unwilling to back down.

Pei Ziheng suddenly raised his hand and threw the shiny ring pendant.

Xia Ling only felt her mind turn blank. It was as if a string had broken in her heart. Before she had time to think, she had already instinctively rushed over in an attempt to get the ring pendant back.

However, Pei Ziheng grabbed hold of her in his arms.

“Let me go!” She shrieked, desperately kicking him and yelling her guts out.

He pressed her down on the carpet using his powerful body. “Xia Ling, tell me the truth.” He was furious and would call her full name when he was angry. His expression was hiding a storm which was about to happen.

“Let go!” She continued to scream. Her eyes were looking at the direction in which the ring fell. The beautiful silver ring was glistening in the dim light and was waiting for her to pick it up. She did not know how she found the strength, but she pushed Pei Ziheng desperately and relentlessly. “That’s mine! Mine!”

Pei Ziheng easily grabbed hold of her wrist and pulled it securely above her head. He leaned over, and his nose almost touched hers. His tone was gloomy. “Xia Ling, don’t force me.”
