Chapter 1403: Bone Slayer
Chapter 1403: Bone Slayer
I tightened my grip around my sword and said with a smile, "That only leaves one course of action, isn’t it? God’s Domain can’t even hold back the Corpse Eaters, so let’s be good samaritans and relieve them of the boss. Dragon knights, follow me! We’re going to aggro the boss to our formation now!"
He Yi, Li Chengfeng and Gui Guzi slapped their Crystal Dragons’ backs with their weapons once and followed me to the sky. We were about a hundred meters above ground when I looked at the scythe-wielding Corpse Eater boss leading a group of Corpse Eaters toward the southern gate. Its name was "God Slayer", and it was an Ancient Immortal Rank boss. Its rank was high enough that it could drop one of the Twelve Divine Armaments or the Seventy-two Ghost Armaments. Of course, the chance would be low, but a chance nonetheless.
"Look, someone’s on the move already!"
Li Chengfeng pointed. About a hundred meters directly in front of Bone Slayer, I saw 7 Japanese cavalrymen galloping toward the boss. It was obvious what they were planning to do. They wanted to aggro the boss back to their formation and kill it slowly. Unfortunately for them, they weren’t expecting the China faction to dispatch four dragon knights to snatch the boss. Honestly, I would’ve ignored the boss if it had appeared at the Indians’ or the Northern Alliance’s gates and saved myself some trouble, but Japan? That was a completely different story!
"You guys go aggro the boss. I’ll deal with these chuckleheads!"
I swooped toward the enemy riders without waiting for them to give me an answer.
The Ancient Divine Dragon was hardly a subtle mount, so an axe-wielding rider spotted me as soon as he looked up. Complexion turning a shade of green, he swore, "Kuso!! It’s the WEL MVP and the devil of Final Duel Valley! Change of plans! Killing him is more important than killing the boss! Go go go!"
The magic knights changed directions at almost the same time. Then, they threw their Trapping Nets at me from four different directions so that at least one of them would hit me.
"Heh!"
I smirked. It would’ve been boring if they were too easy to beat. I activated Thunderous Charge and blitzed through the empty space in the middle before the 4 Trapping Nets could enclose it, effectively dodging all of them. Then, I activated Cold of the Nine Provinces and froze all seven cavalrymen. After the Ancient Divine Dragon got close to the ground, I made a sudden U-turn, found a suitable angle and hit them all with Burning Blade Slash. Finally, I dropped an Ancient Seal on top of them as the Ancient Divine Dragon kicked itself off the ground and returned to the sky.
Boom!
The ground shook a little, and a shallow pit appeared where the Ancient Seal had struck. All seven cavalrymen were killed as a matter of course. The Frozen status condition prevented them from using their invincibility skills to save themselves, so they could do nothing but die. On a related note, I didn’t bother to pick up any of their dropped items because they were so-so at best.
Up ahead, He Yi and her Snowy Crystal Dragon were already flying back toward our formation while the snarling Bone Slayer chased behind her. Surprisingly, it was able to fire scythe auras at the Snow Crystal Dragon’s rear and deal around 400k damage per hit. This Ancient Immortal Rank boss had Attack in spades for sure.
Li Chengfeng and Gui Guzi moved in to protect He Yi, but I decided to do one better and blocked right in front of the boss. I threw Coiling Dragon Revolution at its neck and dealt over 370k damage, angering it and stealing the aggro from He Yi. Then, I intentionally moved closer to the boss before activating Battle Astral Wind and flying back to our formation. "Let’s go, Eve, Chengfeng, Little Gui!"
"Heck yeah!" they all responded with bright smiles on their faces.
It only took three minutes to lure Bone Slayer to our formation. As I had already mentioned before, the Ancient Immortal Rank boss had incredible Attack even considering its rank, and its scythe had an effective range of around 30 yards. What this meant was that its basic attack was basically an AoE attack just like the other boss we had fought earlier, and that the Dragonlight Cavalry wouldn’t be able to participate in this battle. No one wanted to be caught by its splash effect and suffer unnecessary damage.
Thud!
After He Yi leaped off her dragon’s back and landed on the rampart, she said, "We’ll let Lu Chen tank the boss alone and deal the last hit. This way, we’ll be able to maximize the loot, it’ll be better for everyone. Holy Mages, this is your time to shine. The boss is of the metal armor type, and there’s nothing it’s more afraid of than elite-level God Devil Breaks like yours!"
After I activated Fusion Armor, I began running around the boss while treating it to my Burning Blade Slash, Thousand Ice Slash and more. In the sky, blackhole-like spells crashed against Bone Slayer’s body and elicited a constant stream of painful howls. Everyone’s God Devil Break dealt at least 200k damage to the boss, and Lian Xin’s even dealt a whopping 480k damage. It meant that her Intelligence was 12000 points higher than the boss’s!
Swhoosh swhoosh swhoosh!
Since I was the only tank, the priests just locked their targets on me and healed away. Murong Mingyue commented with a chuckle, "Make sure to keep our Little Heavenly King properly hosed, okay? You won’t want to see how ugly he looks if he dies…"
Me: "..."
To improve my defenses, I joined Lu Buyi’s party and enjoyed a 150% increase to everything. Forget the usual HP, Defense and Attack stat, even my Intelligence stat was high enough that I didn’t need to consider eating Magic Consumables to regenerate my MP at all...
Bone Slayer was strong, but it had met its match. It was incapable of one-shotting me, and its aggro was firmly in my grasp. It was simply incapable of posing much of a threat to anyone. Even Warsky Alliance, Candle Dragon, Blazing Hot Lips, Snowy Cathaya and the other guilds had moved closer to watch the showdown after taking out their wave of Corpse Eaters. Of course, Li Chengfeng and Gui Guzi were circling in the sky and making sure that no one would try to steal the boss from us. After all, the patch event had progressed far enough that even Ancient Immortal Rank bosses were becoming extremely rare, and every killed boss of the Ancient Immortal Rank or higher was a chance to drop the Twelve Divine Armaments or the Seventy-two Ghost Armaments.
Everything was progressing smoothly. In just 7 minutes and 24 seconds, the boss's HP had dropped to 1%. He Yi immediately raised her slender arm and declared, "Holy Mages and Dragonlight Archers, stop attacking and let Lu Chen last-hit the boss! Also, all units are to prepare to deal with any interference! If the boss drops any equipment, Top 10 players of the DPS chart[1] of their respective classes will get the right to roll for them!"
I gathered my strength and unleashed Burning Blade Slash. I also unleashed Summon the Storm at the same time to prevent an assassin like Farewell Song from stealing the loot. Ghost Lake Mirror might make him undetectable, but I could still cancel his stealth state with a direct hit to his person.
"Ahhhh…"
Bone Slayer abruptly raised his head and let out a death scream. Then, he collapsed backward and erupted into a shower of equipment, magic stones and more.
I reached the boss in a single step and stomped the ground using War Crush. Try guessing if I had done it consciously or not. While the skill was in effect, I swiped all the loot into my bag and turned on public sharing mode to show everyone that I hadn’t tried to embezzle an item or two. Every stat and detail was shared in the guild channel—

……
The boss had dropped 3 weapons and 1 chest armor, and they were all Ancient Immortal-grade. My players couldn’t help but stare at me with their jaws on the ground. "OMG, the vice leader’s Luck is so bullshit! Most people would be thanking their lucky stars if they got one 2-Star Outstanding Ancient Immortal-grade piece of equipment after killing TWO Ancient Immortal Rank bosses in a row. However, not only did the vice leader get FOUR from a single boss, they are all 5-star Outstanding or higher!"
High Fighting Spirits laughed. "Man, is this boss a walking arsenal or what? I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen a single boss dropping three high-tier weapons in one go!"
Li Chengfeng urged, "Lu Chen, get on with the equipment distribution already. The second monster wave should be arriving very soon!"
I nodded and raised the Stuart Battle Armor above my head first. "This is an Ancient Immortal-grade metal armor with super high Defense and damage reflect. I already have the Guardian Dragon Armor, so I’m going to give this to the guild. Obviously, I’m the only metal-armor player who was fighting the boss, so we’ll choose the Top 10 cavalrymen with the highest contribution points to roll for it instead. The player with the highest roll will get the equipment IF they can pay the proper amount of contribution points. Otherwise, the player with the second highest roll will get to claim it and so on."
Li Chengfeng, Gui Guzi and more stepped forward without hesitation. I priced the equipment at 190k guild contribution points after checking its system rating.
A few seconds later, Gui Guzi became the proud winner of one Stuart Battle Armor. That was fine. Gui Guzi already had an extraordinary amount of Defense in the first place, and now he was almost at the level where he could stand in the middle of an arrow rain and bask in a shower of 1 damage numbers.
……
Next, I raised the Bone Slayer Axe and said, "This one’s a battle axe with super high Attack and 20% armor penetration, making it a perfect tool for murder. Again, the Top 10 cavalrymen will roll for it. Its price is 240k guild contribution points!"
Everyone was stunned when they heard this. Gui Guzi, Chaos Moon and more grimaced visibly as they complained, "Are you kidding me? Who the hell even has that many guild contribution points…"
As it turned out, there was one person who fit the bill. High Fighting Spirits stepped out and declared, "Hehe, guild leader Eve rewarded me a ton of guild contribution points after all this Luck I donated last time, so I can actually afford this[2]. Give it to me, bro…"
1. E/N: I guess it’s a pet showdown if you are a priest then? ☜
2. E/N: It’s quite obvious Lu Chen did it on purpose and set the price so high that only High Fighting Spirits could get it. It’s even his favorite type of weapon that he’s been using for a while! ☜
