The Chronicles of the Immortal God

Chapter 390: Knocking

Chapter 390: Knocking

“You want to know this one’s identity?” Thea was not surprised when the silver ball talked back to her. After all, she already did these many times the past 6 months.

But all those times just had been idle conversations, with no intrusive questions coming from Thea.

But this time, Thea’s going for broke, since she knew that Wang Hao will not let her out if she did not try to ask the silver ball some questions.

“Yes, that is why I am talking to you now.” Thea replied haughtily as she tried to appear tough. “You know that I am a different soul, so I could not perfectly recall anything related to you. It was as if that information was just intended for the original soul of this body.”

“You are right.” The voice coming from the silver ball sounded neutral, as if the ball had no emotions at all. Well a ball is a ball, so maybe it not having emotions is acceptable.

“However, even the original soul in this body does not know about my purpose. The original soul does not even have the required spiritual strength to talk to me. So, she was clueless about me. Only you, with your spiritual strength was able to talk to me like this.”

“Oh?” This info by the silver ball made Thea more intrigued. “So my spiritual strength was also the reason I was able to restrain your flare-up earlier? Talk about a surprise.”

“But even with that kind of strength, I will still not tell anything to you about me or my purpose.” The silver ball stubbornly said. “Why would I tell you something that could help that bastard Wang Hao to survive?”

“......”

“I was created with one purpose, and that is to make sure that Wang Hao will not be able to unlock all of his seals!” The silver ball hissed as it began shaking uncontrollably. “So you, do not expect me to just say anything!”

“But you just said that you were created to stop Wang Hao from unlocking his seals.” Thea replied dryly. “Doesn’t that count as you saying something?”

“.....”

“Whoopsie, seems like your mouth slipped.” Thea giggled as she leered at the silver ball. “Why did you turn silent? Come, speak to Elder Sister more! Didn’t you say before that you want to talk to me more? Today is your chance!”

“Scram!” The silver ball said while embarrassment could be heard from its voice. “Just because I want to talk to you does not mean that I like to talk to you! Stupid stupid stupid!”

Thea’s eyes then opened as she was unceremoniously kicked out by the silver ball out of her dantian.

“So that ball is a tsundere huh....” Thea muttered as she rubbed the temples of her head. “Maybe I can use that to tease the silver ball more in the future....”

“So how did it go?” Wang Hao asked he saw Thea opening her eyes. “Did the power say anything to you?”

“Well...” Thea then explained how her talks with the silver ball turned out.

After hearing what happened, Wang Hao just sighed as she shook his head wryly.

“Tsk tsk tsk, so even a ball can be that childish? Seems like getting info out of it will be hard then.”

“So what do we do now? Thea asked as Wang Hao grabbed the orb that she was trapped in. “Do we just let it be?”

“Well that is the best thing that we can do for now.” Wang Hao replied with a shrug. “I am sure that there will come a time that the ball will spill its beans to me. But before that time comes, you just have to monitor the ball for me.”

“Roger.” Thea said as she glared at Wang Hao. “Now, can you let me out of the orb already?”

“Okie okie.” Wang Hao lazily replied as he tapped the crystal ball.

“Pop!”

A popping sound echoed out, and Thea’s body suddenly appeared inside the room. The orb that was trapping her earlier was now empty.

Wang Hao then waved his hands, keeping the orb inside his storage.

“Wu Meng, you can come in now.” Wang Hao said this after he wiped the energy barrier that he put around his house. He gave Thea a wink as the door opened.

In came Wu Meng, who cast a suspecting look to Thea, who just gave a stiff smile in return to Wu Meng.

“This girl... She’s the silver girl, right?” Wu Meng said as she saw that the orb was now gone. “Her body looks similar to the silver girl, but her demeanor and attitude... awee way different from the silver girl earlier.”

“Do not ask me how the silver girl turned to become like her. Stuff happened ok?” Wang Hao replied dismissively as he sat down on the bed. He motioned Thea to sit beside him, while he motioned Wu Meng to sit at the other side of the bed.

Wu Meng, who suddenly saw a slight flush on Thea’s cheek, flared up as her mind began to wander on some things.

“Oh oh oh, what could Miss Wu Meng be thinking right now? It seems to be serious...” Wang Hao said as he patted the large and soft bed that he was in. “Are you perhaps thinking of... THAT?”

“Of course not!” Wu Meng huffed angrily as she sat on the bed too.

Upon seeing that she seemed to be fine, Wang Hao reached on deep in his storage, and out from it appeared an object.

This object had three rings on it, with each ring having a different color.

Upon seeing this, Wu Meng’s eyes widened as she felt a deep connection with this object.

She gave Wang Hao an inquisitive look, with her eyes clearly thirsty for answers.

Wang Hao grinned after seeing her look. He shook the rings gently, which made them produce a soothing sound.

His voice while talking to Wu Meng was soft as he continued chiming the rings.

“This thing right here, is the one that can help you go home.”

“!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

“Time to perform Knocking....” Fang Yu was now all alone inside Genie’s Mist Room, and she was using this alone time to raise her cultivation.

Knocking, the 2nd Sub-Realm in the Third Stage, can only be performed once the practitioner succeeds on Grinding their cores.

If the Grinding Sub-Realm was focused on the surface of the Core, Knocking was focused on the insides of the Core.

In the Knocking Sub-Realm, the practitioner has to ‘Knock’ on their Core, which means he/she has to tap their Core, similar to the way someone knocks on the door.

But instead of making a sound, a ‘Knock’ was done on the Core to induce pressure inside the core.

The pressure created by a ‘Knock’ on the Core will not dissipate as a sound wave, instead it will turn into something that will affect the insides of the Core.

The goal of Knocking was to rearrange the components of a practitioner’s Core into a perfect crystalline arrangement.

In the molecular world, there are three types of molecular arrangements.

These arrangements are Amorphous, Semi-Crystalline and Crystalline.

Amorphous arrangement is the arrangement where the molecules of a compound was arranged in a way comparable to the way trash were packed in the trash can.

Amorphous arrangement is random and unpredictable. There are no guarantees how the molecules will arrange each other. They just... arrange.

Materials with this kind of arrangement are usually weak and easy to destroy.

Crystalline arrangement on the other hand, was the opposite of amorphous arrangement. This arrangement was the result of the molecules arranging themselves in an orderly and pattern-induced way.

There are no stray molecules in this arrangement. Every molecule was in their proper place, leading to a pleasing and orderly arrangement.

Materials with crystalline arrangement were usually very sturdy and powerful.

As for the semi-crystalline arrangement, it was the mixture of crystalline and amorphous arrangement. There are parts that are orderly, and there are parts that are not.

Materials with this type of arrangement have strength and sturdiness between an amorphous and crystalline material.

How are this information then related to Knocking?

When a Third Stage Practitioner creates their Core, the core’s internal arrangement was always an amorphous arrangement.

If a practitioner wants to strengthen their core, then he/she has to change its internal arrangement, turning the amorphous arrangement to a crystalline arrangement.

Only this type of arrangement will be the best type of internal arrangement for a Core.

And to force the insides of the Core to rearrange themselves, ‘Knocking’ is required.

A ‘Knock’ on the Core will introduce pressure inside the Core, which will force the insides of the Core to rearrange.

Repetitive ‘Knocking’ will rearrange the insides of the Core more, which will bring its arrangement closer to the crystalline arrangement.

Only when a crystalline arrangement was reached that the Knocking Sub-Realm could be considered to be completed.

Of course, there are dangers in Knocking a Core.

First of all, the power used in each ‘Knock’ must be the right kind of power.

If the ‘Knock’ is too weak, the pressure it induced would not be enough to rearrange the insides of the Core.

If the ‘Knock’ is too strong, the possibility of the Core being fractured or destroyed is high.

In fact, almost all of the failures in the Knocking Sub-Realm were those who used too much power in their ‘Knocks’.

Now that Fang Yu was about to attempt ‘Knocking’ she had to be careful in the amount of power that she uses.

But that was not just her only problem.

Since Fang Yu has 13 cores, she had to ‘Knock’ all of them, all at the same time!

This is the part that Fang Yu was dreading.

After all, some of her Cores have different sizes and different components compared to her other cores.

For example, Fang Yu’s Duality Godly Divine Beast Core was her largest core, with the Mountain Bashing Boar Core as one of the smallest cores.

This difference in the sizes means that Fang Yu has to apply different levels of power on each ‘Knock’ that she applies on her 13 Cores. What’s worse is that she had to ‘Knock’ all these cores at the same time!

This was like filling 13 different-sized bottles with water all at the same time. No water must be spilled out, and the water flow must be adjusted on each bottle.

The bottles must be perfectly filled at the end, with no bottle spilling its contents or no bottle lacking even just a drop of water.

Well, even if Fang Yu messed up in the water bottles, she can just shrug it off and curse her luck.

But if Fang Yu messed up in her Cores, heavy injuries or even death will be her destination.

“Focus and focus and more focus.’ Fang Yu muttered as she took a deep breath.

Fang Yu’s breathing then slowed down as she adjusted her mental state.

Her eyes then opened wide as she said,

“Time to knock myself up!”
