Chapter 1404 Overbearing Power

1404  Overbearing Power

A large fleet of ships arrived in the Dark Forest. Giant ethereal creatures carried the queen's entourage toward the dark forest, with Arthur and Tiara in tow. Their quest toward the Spirits Realm required some preparation on the queen's part. "Is this necessary?" asked Arthur as he stared at the fleet of elves brought along by the queen. "I do trust you to protect my daughter, but if the worst comes, I want my army prepared to defend against my brother," the queen said as she stared at the withering forest. "I will ensure that this war will be the last." "There might not be one," Arthur said with a shake of his head. "The Dark Prince doesn't have any supporters at the moment, correct?" "That is correct. However, if he obtained both the powers of envy and famine, then we can expect an army of spirits flooding the gates between the two realms," Tiara interjected with a frown. "I think that he has been planning something." "That seems to be true," Arthur said with a nod. "The lowest layer of the Spirits Realm is called the Abyssal Layer. Those are spirits that refused the agreement with the Spirit's Sovereign. If the Dark Prince manages to convince them… then we might already be too late." The pair of mother and daughter were worried, and the atmosphere grew solemn. As the fleet descended into the camp, the elves received their queen by kneeling on the ground. Once the queen descended, she addressed her people. "Troubled times are ahead of us," she began. "The threat of famine still looms over the skies of Janea, joined by one more. My fallen brother, whom we believed to be dead years ago, has appeared again. But this time will be the last that we suffer fear of his cruelty." The elves raised their heads toward their queen, in unison, as if having rehearsed it. The Queen of Janea raised her hand, letting life bloom from her fingertips. As her fingers moved, the forests moved with her, growing and expanding. "This will be the last fight against death, and life will emerge victorious," the Queen shouted, her voice spreading through the leaves of the forest. "We shall stand as one, protect our nation as one, and thrive as one." The elves cheered for their queen, letting the forests mirror their enthusiasm. Arthur held a small smile as he witnessed their boiling morale. He admired the queen more now for rallying her subjects despite the harsh circumstances. Once the cheering subsided, the queen began giving her orders. Most of the elves would build barricades and defenses against the possible famine. An elite group of scouts was given different orders to pinpoint the last traces of the rescue group. 14:15

"I'm sorry for taking this long," the queen said to Arthur as they awaited outside the camp's gates. "I know that you must be worried." Once the cheering subsided, the queen began giving her orders. Most of the elves would build barricades and defenses against the possible famine. An elite group of scouts was given different orders to pinpoint the last traces of the rescue group. "I'm sorry for taking this long," the queen said to Arthur as they awaited outside the camp's gates. "I know that you must be worried." "I'm not," Arthur said with a shake of his head. "Inside the Spirits Realm, your strength is decided by the spiritual energy that you can wield. Diana, while still inexperienced in wielding it like I am, has enough to threaten the Dark Prince himself. We have time." "That puts my mind at ease as well," the queen said. "But we must hurry nonetheless. If the prince has lured them into the Spirits Realm, their real bodies are at risk." "Their real body? What?" Tiara asked in confusion. "Your real body does not enter the Spirits Realm. Instead, it's trapped inside an interdimensional realm until you leave. Therefore, the prince might target their real bodies to destroy them," Arthur said. "A lot of things can go wrong," the Queen muttered. "Are you sure that you can find them in time? The Spirits Realm is vast." "I know a few spirits who can help us," Arthur said, smiling. "I have a few friends who have taken residence inside the Spirits Realm. They would be more than happy to help me find Diana and the rest." The scouts returned after that. They led Arthur and Tiara toward the last traces of Diana and the rest. Arthur was surprised that they were this good since the clue they found was just a sliver of mana that remained in the surrounding. "But there is mana everywhere," muttered Arthur with a frown. "What makes this special?" "Because it has an attribute that doesn't belong to Janea," said one of the scouts. "We never make a mistake, my lord. Please trust us." "I do, unreservedly so," Arthur said with a grin. "Thank you, everyone. Please take a few steps back now." The scouts and Tiara did as Arthur told them, giving some room for him. His spiritual energy leaked out from his body like an overflowing and raging fountain as he stepped forward. Arthur closed his eyes to remember how to open the gate toward the Spirits Realm. Gala taught him this skill when he was in Alka. It was simple, but difficult to achieve. Arthur had more spiritual energy at the moment which made it harder for him to achieve the perfect balance to open the gate. His spiritual energy was an unstoppable dam that Arthur had yet to master. The control he had over his mana was still lacking, reminding him that he was far from done with training. If he wanted to be the slightest threat to the gods, he would need to hone all of his skills. Thud! Arthur opened his eyes slightly to look behind him toward the source of the noise. He was surprised to see one of the scouts had collapsed on the ground after feeling his spiritual energy. Thud! Another scout fell to the ground, and then they began falling like dominoes. The scouts, whose rank was no less than a demi-ranker, fell after suffering Arthur's crushing spiritual energy. Their souls momentarily separated from their bodies, taking away their consciousness. After what seemed like just a few seconds, all scouts were on the ground, unconscious. The only person remaining was Tiara, but even she had a sweaty face while looking at Arthur. "You are full of surprises, princess," Arthur said with a grin. Tiara smiled at him, but then her eyes rolled and she fell to the ground as well. Arthur sighed and turned back to focus on his spiritual energy.

It did suck… to be too powerful. 14:16
